Classic comic strips from the pages of the official Doctor Who Magazine , featuring adventures of the 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 7th Doctors! Ground Zero collects a range of classic black-and-white comic strip tales featuring four different Doctors, all digitally remastered! All stories have been taken from the official Doctor Who Magazine, now in its 40th year of publication! The title story has been long awaited in graphic novel form by Doctor Who fandom; it involves the death of the Doctor's companion Ace, and marks the point where the DWM comic strip began to follow its own continuity. Review: The Swan Song of the Seventh Doctor - "Ground Zero" ranks among one of the best graphic stories from Doctor Who Magazine. Beautifully illustrated and intense story. The evolution of the Seventh Doctor, from comical clown in the beginning to a dark and cunning schemer, comes to a climatic conclusion in this gripping and tragic adventure. A Doctor Who classic! Review: The finale comics. - Fine volume of classic Doctor stories. Sadly in black and white.

The Final Piece of the Jigsaw - No 29
After 15 years the collection of Dr Who comic strips from primarily the Doctor Who Magazine is up-to-date - apart from future 13th Doctor stories of course. So much has happened since the graphic novels began , initially from the very beginning with the 4th Doctor stories from 1979 when the magazine began (initially as a weekly). When these graphic novels commenced, Doctor Who had not returned to our TV screens which it did eventually in 2005. The graphic novels appeared twice a year although there was a gap before The Crimson Hand collection appeared. After consecutive runs of strips appeared in graphic novels, a run of stories from the past followed by an anthology featuring the current doctor would appear so to anyone getting the magazine, these stories would appear extremely recent. Anyway, the stories in this collection are from issues 228-243 of the magazine and feature five doctors and their companions. There are six amazing tales but the stand-out story is Ground Zero in which the Seventh Doctor and Ace walk into an ambush in London's Notting Hill Carnival and discover that a hidden power has been manipulating them for a very long time. No spoilers but the comic strip which was not in colour in those far-off days would never be the same again. It has been a long journey of 15 years and 29 graphic novels; presumably every six months there will be a collection of the current doctor's stories from now on. A suggestion - why not give the graphic novel treatment to all the other Doctor Who stories which appeared in the Classic Comics range? There were many that never appeared before the 1990's comic ceased publication after 27 regular issues and one Special - perhaps these other barely remembered tales could alternate in graphic novel form with the stories featuring the 13th (and future?) incarnation(s) of the Doctor?
