For the money, not a bad little microwave!
My old microwave finally gave up the ghost after around 13-14 years of pretty decent service. I mostly warm up meals and made-for-microwave entrees, and of course the obligatory batch of popcorn from time to time. Saw this pop up and it had pretty good reviews. Plus, I've owned Farberware products going back decades. I still have a Farberware Percolator coffee-maker that's probably pushing 40 now, and a small countertop convection oven that I've been using almost daily for 16+ years. So I'm pretty cool with the brand. It has a much smaller footprint than the old microwave, but curiously has pretty close to the same sized heating chamber for capacity. This is rated for 1000w, and it definitely warms/cooks things much faster than the old unit. I can cook a full bowl of popcorn in 3 minutes in this one, whereas it took 4:30 in the former microwave. The front panel is sleek and simple, and for most things it'll do just fine. If you want to warm something for 5 minutes, you just push the 5 button on the pad and walk away. It takes care of the rest. However, I think it's unusually fiddly when you want to input a very specific cook time, like 3m20s. Yes, you can do it. But you have to go through this whole process of setting the power level first, then inputting the total cook time. It's just a bit of extra keypresses when you need a very particular cook duration. It also seems a bit noisier to my ears than the old unit. Not necessarily standing under a jet engine noisy, but it's definitely noticeable. I got used to it within the first few days, and it's not that big a deal since I live alone, but if you're given to late night kitchen raids and want to avoid waking the wife and kids, this one is going to thump and hum a bit. For under $100, I have no complaints. If it holds up as long as my other Farberware items, I should be set for the rest of my days. And if not, this didn't break the bank, so it's all good. For the cost and the efficiency I gave it 5 stars, with the caveats about the time input and noise. If you can put up with those, it's a great value.

Review: Farberware 1.2 Cu. Ft. Countertop Microwave Oven
It heats food evenly, operates simply, and has enough power to handle common tasks like reheating leftovers, making popcorn, or warming frozen meals. The controls are straightforward and easy to understand, which is a big plus if you do not want to deal with anything overly complicated. The design is clean and modern, and the overall unit feels like a good value for the price. For anyone looking for a dependable microwave that covers the basics well, this one is a worthwhile purchase.

Great price
It states that it's stainless steel but only the trim on the door is stainless steel. The rest of the oven is black. I was hoping for stainless. Noise level is normal. The child lock is dumb, a waste of time and a waste of an extra button. I'm glad I could remove that function. The vents are on the sides and bottom not on the top like my old one. I like that because I can put items on top and not worry about covering the vents or dirt falling inside. Works great, the right amount of power and the perfect size for me. My only complaint is the light is not bright enough. Hard to see the food while it's cooking or even with the door open.

Attractive, versatile & powerful microwave oven
Itโs rather odd, but the top criteria for my selecting a microwave oven to replace our old one that broke was how it would fit into the decor of the kitchen. I needed something that was black with stainless steel offset. It basically came down to a choice between Black and Decker and Farberware. The second criteria was power. I previously had a 900 watt microwave which I was used to but was looking for a compact unit that was just a little bit more powerful. As far as versatility is concerned, I liked the layout of the Farberware controls better., especially having the Time Cook and Power buttons right there on top. So I went with the Farberware, The microwave was not that noisy. Yes you could hear it running. With all the comments on how noisy the microwave was, I was expecting it to be noisy. It was quieter than the last microwave I had. If there was one criticism I would have, and itโs entirely a personal one, itโs the fact that it has 5 beeps when it finishes which is the same as my coffee maker when it finishes brewing so I canโt hear the difference between the two. Other than that, the five beeps are perfectly fine. It does exactly the job I want it to do as a microwave oven. It cooks the food thoroughly and evenly, better than my previous microwave oven. So itโs exactly the appliance I was looking for and does exactly what I want it to do. I use the microwave heavily on a daily basis so my hope is that it holds up for at least a few years or hopefully longer. Replacing a microwave oven is an inconvenient and painful event. Inconvenient because you lose the cooking appliance you are dependent upon on a daily basis for cooking and reheating a lot of your food. Painful because you have to transport a rather heavy piece to a facility where it can be processed.

NO FRILLS REVIEW.... GREAT MICROWAVE OVEN....
My 33 year old Sharp Carousel II Microwave oven died.... A LOUD transformer buzzing indicated a blown High Voltage Diode.... (MOST COMMON FAILURE).... I could have repaired, BUT, after 33 years, I deserved a NEW Microwave Oven.... I found this 1.2 CU, FT / 1000 Watt Microwave Oven listed for $97.99 and bought it.... It runs **VERY** quietly.... Beeps five times when cooking stops.... You CAN easily, permanently, disable the "Child Lock".... The INSIDE measurements are: WIDTH = 13 INCHES.... DEPTH = 13.5 INCHES.... HEIGHT - FROM TOP OF GLASS PLATE = 8 INCHES.... WATTAGE DRAW = 1659 WATTS.... AMPERAGE DRAW = 15.63 AMPS.... GLASS PLATE DIAMETER = 12-3/8 INCHES.... "SPIN RATE" ~ 6 SECONDS PER REVOLUTION.... This oven is NOT an "Inverter" type.... "Power Levels", 1 - 10 is a percentage designation, (x10), of "Klystron ON TIME", I.E. a "5" Power Level, (50%), for 1 minute cook time = the Klystron is "ON/HEATING" for 30 seconds, OFF for 30 seconds.... The saying- "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure", is/has never been more true in preventing spatter with ANY microwave cooking by COVERING YOUR FOOD.... PERIOD.... EVEN MY COFFEE.... I have no need of and do not use the fancy "Auto Cooking" features.... For the money, it is a GREAT Microwave Oven.... I'm Happy.... Done....

Unit was dead on arrival.
EDIT 12/25/2024: Rating reduced from 5 stars to 1. It would be zero if I could. The unit arrived in a day and there was zero damage to the box. The unit also had no visible damage to the cabinet or the power cord. But it was electrically dead right out of the box. I read the manual and followed the instructions which were few and simple. The display would not light up. The control panel was completely unresponsive. I plugged it into several outlets proven to be working with other appliances. Nothing. It's just dead. Back it goes. Already processed the return. It's disappointing. I'd expect at least minimal quality control like plugging the units in to see if they'll at least power up and the lights come on before they're shipped out to retailers. Apparently that didn't happen. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Just for clarity since their are multiple versions in this product listing, I bought the 1.3 cu ft, 1000W version with the stainless steel finish and the curved door handle. A microwave is pretty much like a coffee pot or a toaster oven to me. We use it 99% of the time to..... 1.) Heat up coffee or tea. 2.) Defrost frozen stuff. 3.) Reheat leftovers. 4.) Make popcorn. So the question becomes can it do the basics with an easy to use control interface and is it durable / reliable. The answer in this case is yes. This is a direct replacement for the exact same Farberware branded microwave I bought 7 years ago for the exact same price. The only difference is that the original one was black and this one has a stainless steel finish. The styling and control interface is identical except for a couple of feature additions in the new one. But as an offset, the old one had an output of 1100W and this one is rated at 1000W. No big deal. The physical size both inside and outside are identical. That's critical for me as this thing has to fit in a built in cubby / garage over the counter. And this is the largest unit that will fit I've ever found. As for the inside, it will fit a large dinner plate. Good enough. As for the control interface, there is a zero learning curve as it's almost identical to the one it's replacing. It has the basics covered..... 1.) Time cook. 2.) Time defrost. 3.) Weight defrost. 4.) Power level adjustment 5.) 5 presets for popcorn, pizza, dinner plate, potato, frozen veggies, and beverages. 6.) One touch cook time from 1-6 min. The old one was 1-3 min. 7.) 30 second one touch add by pressing the start button again. It's obvious that they put some thought into the interface to make it really easy to do what microwaves are used for 99% of the time. If you need to read the manual to use this, well... you need help. LOL, it's that easy. As for value, the original black one cost me the exact same $135 in March 2018. It's not dead. It still heats fine. But the timer / clock display flips out intermittently then comes back to life randomly before failing again. Just annoying. And the inside has seen enough wear that its not possible to get it really clean looking any longer. But hey, this thing gets used probably 10 times daily by 4 people on average. And at $135 the original lasted 7 years. That's about $19/year or $1.60/month. I'm OK with replacing it with a newer version at this point. I got good value out of it. Hopes this helps anyone trying to make a decision.

Product Is Not Australian Compliant.
I am extremely disappointed in this Microwave. I live in Sydney Australia and I purchased this item from Amazon AU. Therefore I expected it to be Aussie Compliant. But it has a foreign electrical plug and every time I press the START button it trips my circuit breaker and switches off. It is un-usable. Obviously I will need to return it and that entails a whole other world of hassle and annoyance. What a joke. Time wasted and expense not to mention the endless reading you need to do and follow to get a simple refund. Not happy at all!!!

On time and correct
I was hesitant to purchase this. Give him the reviews about late deliveries or no deliveries at all. I ordered this to Toronto and, as promised, it shipped 5 business days after I ordered it. It arrived exactly when described and delivered by Canada Post. It's a high quality machine and very attractive. It is a little bit bigger than I expected so it is worth measuring since the 3D option on Amazon is not perfect.

Electrical appliance sold in the UK that cannot be used in the UK.
This electrical appliance is sold on Amazon UK. They do the deliveries in the UK for free or for a fee. It makes sense that appliances sold on the UK site and delivered to UK can be used in the UK. I bought it as a gift for a friend. However, it turned out that it is an item that could be used only in US since it is produced for 120 V voltage and has an US plug. When I went back to the product info it says only in the small print (in the specifications) that the voltage is 120V. Many people will not be even familiar what that means. This is really unserious and I am also not sure if it is legal to sell in the uk appliances that cannot be used in the UK or in the rest of Europe.
