Bosch GET65-5N 5 In. Dual-Mode Random Orbit Sander

If you're looking for a good powerful sander, it would be hard for me to recommend looking elsewhere. I bought this for a different use case than a lot of people on here, and it's for automotive and metal prep. I had seen guys on YouTube using 6" electric sander/polishers for prepping for resprays, and I've been using smaller electric sanders, or 3M pneumatic DA sanders. I first decided to go cheaper and purchased the Eastwood 6" Sander/Polisher. I've had decent luck with Eastwood tools, though I'm more of a Milwaukee/Dewalt/Bosch/Makita/Festool guy. I got that sander and paired it with Dura Gold Premium 180 grit ceramic sanding discs. I started panel prepping and in a short amount of time, even at lower speeds, my fingers were going numb from the vibration. Look, when I was 20 I could probably work that thing all day long not knowing any better, but at 48, you tend to feel and question more. While it did sand alright, I knew it wasn't for me. Back in the box it went in November 2025 for a return. I had looked at this Bosch unit several times, but I didn't want to spend the $350. I'm anything but cheap, but this is a tool I won't use all the time and I've got about 15 other sanders, so was it a want or a need? I started to convince myself I could make due with the other sanders I have, and it was more of a want. Then the Black Friday deals show up and the price drops to $250, and I'm like SOLD. I ordered it and it arrived the next day. I quickly assembled it and outfitted it with the same 180 grit disc I was using on the Eastwood sander. WOW. I know some people posted reviews that it has vibration and that is true, it's a sander and it has some vibration, but it is not even in the same ballpark as the vibration from that Eastwood sander. Additionally, on non-turbo mode, it removed more paint than the Eastwood did at the highest speed, and I was running the Bosch on speed 3. I then shut it off, switched to turbo mode, and switched it back on. DOUBLE WOW. This thing removes paint and preps like it's on 100 cups of coffee. While it has a bit more vibration, it is still night and day less than the Eastwood. I will be able to panel prep so much faster than any of my other sanders using this Bosch. It blew me away at how fast I sanded about 8 square feet, and then you can switch back to non-turbo mode to do any finesse sanding. I did not try the dust collection since I don't always use it, but I expect it will work similar to that of other sanders when using the proper sanding discs and dust collector. If I had to give it any cons, I'd say that while it feels refined when running it, it doesn't sound as refined as it feels. A bit of geartrain noise and a pretty loud electric motor. Otherwise, I can't really find a fault. For the performance, it is more than acceptable to me. I have several Bosch tools, and none have ever let me down, and I know this will provide many years of solid service, and it's also repairable which isn't something you can say about all of the name brands out there. A+, Top Notch, Awesome Performance, Time is Money, Exceeds Expectations - that's what I think when summing up this tool. Buy once, cry once! I think it's still worth the regular price, but on sale, it's a no brainer.

Well I did a head to head comparison with the Festool rotex 150 and I hand the crown to Bosch. Once I get it edited I’ll post some videos but the Bosch feels better in my hand. It comes with a vacuum adaptor that fits right on my Ridgid shop vac, it seems to collect the dust better and it sands quicker than the Festool. Like a lot of others I received a slightly smashed box, thanks to amazon for that mess. I was concerned it was a used tool but after inspection it seemed ok. Was really loud, whiney when I ran it though. That concerned me a bit but it seems the Festool is actually louder. I found a video of someone who tested the sound and the Festool was like 2 decibels louder. Not much so it really doesn’t add any value either way. I used some 3m net sand paper on both tools, (new 80 grit paper) hooked them to the same vacuum and sanded a 1/4 of an oak table that I want to refinish. I even vacuumed out the filter between tests so they both had a clean vac to start. In standard mode, both sanders seemed about the same with the Festool being slightly faster. Once I switched to the turbo mode, the Bosch beat the Festool quickly. One thing I noticed was there was a lot of dust on the top of the sanding pad just below the motor on the Festool but the Bosch still looked brand new. The Bosch was throwing less dust while doing a better job. The Festool was supposed to be amazing so I tired a second test. This time with some old pine that had years of dirty finish packed on some 2x old couch legs. I even switched the Festool to the Festool sand paper. It did better with the Festool paper but the Bosch still made quicker work of those old legs. At less than half the price, I would buy the Bosch everytime! It probably doesn’t happen much but my $700 Festool sander is getting returned under that 30 day no questions asked policy…

I just purchased another one of these because I couldn’t pass up the Prime Day sale. At full price this machine is totally worth it. I bought my first one January 2021. It is still running strong after almost five years of heavy use. I run a concrete fabrication business. I design and fabricate sinks, furniture, architectural elements, sculpture, etc. with high performance fiber reinforced concrete as the primary or only component. This RO works great on wood of course. But its main job in my studio is grinding and polishing concrete. And I lean on it a lot. Literally, I press my weight down on it while grinding. With all the use and abuse my tool has seen it is still running strong. I’ve used it on metal as well with great results. The ability to go from an angle grinder action (“Turbo”, spinning) to the RO action is more than just handy. Going from mild stock removal to fine finish with the same tool is a big time saver. I owned the previous model as well. It still runs too. But this model was a real step up. It edges out the Festool at half the price. The only CON is a big annoying one that Bosch should change. The backer pad is garbage. So annoying I almost dropped a star over it. The worst I’ve experienced with all the RO or angle grinder/polisher attachments I’ve used. The hook and loop will wear out quickly and replacements are in the $35-40 range. Really unacceptable for a company like Bosch. ***Buy a pack of Mirka 6” interface pads. This thin hook and loop pad is stuck to your backer pad. You now pull sanding disks, or in my case diamond pads, on and off of the $5 interface pad instead of directly off of the stock backer pad. This greatly extends the life of the more expensive backer pad and increases air flow for dust collection. The one annoying con does not negate the pile of pros for this top notch tool. It took about 8 years for a model update last time. I don’t know what they could do to improve this model other than the backer pad. So it could be awhile before a new model comes out.

Okay - this GET75-6N is a WINNER. I'm not a tool expert - so if you are, this won't be helpful - but if you're a layperson like me, read on for the reasons why this sander is amazing: 1 - ZERO DUST. Seriously. If you've ever sanded with a palm sander with a dust bag, you know that while it looks like the bag is working you end up with dust EVERYWHERE. I hooked a cheap Rigid wet/dry vac from Home Depot up to the dust hose on this sander and ZERO DUST. It's insane. 2 - BUMP GUARD. Guys, you can sand RIGHT UP AGAINST things with this bump guard, it's amazing. It keeps you from catching the pad on something and then making divots/tearing the sander from your hands/etc. It's a great addition and makes me feel much safer when sanding 3 - TURBO MODE. Okay, so I REALLLLLY wanted a Festool Rotex 150 but 'settled' on this sander, and you know what, I'm glad I saved myself the $350 - Need to sand some hardwood floors with a thick gross coat of 30 year old polyurethane on them? Just flip the switch to turbo mode and off you go. (the sander in turbo mode is as described, crazy powerful, so hold on tight to the grab bar!) 4 - GRAB BAR HANDLE. I have tiny hands, so all tools feel awkward in my hands, but somehow this GET75-6N feels okay. The hump at the top of the sander is enough for control in regular mode, but when using turbo mode the grab bar handle is necessary. I 100% could not maneuver this in turbo without the handle. 5 - LONG CORD. Usually with a sander the cord length wouldn't matter, because sanders are something you use outside, or in a workshop. But with this sander that makes absolutely no dust, you can sand in the middle of your living room. My place was built in 1910 and has maybe 6 power outlets total (I know, it's terrible) so this is super convenient being able to sand where I want to and not having to go grab an extension cord. 6. SUPER EASY CONTROLS - There's a clearly labeled dial on the back of the sander to change the speed 7. HOOK & LOOP PADS - I love these, they're round Velcro backed pads and take 2 seconds to change out. Unlike using sheets with say, a palm sander, where you have to stop everything, and unclamp If you need a sanding powerhouse, this is the tool for you!

I have used Bosch tools for many years and had good luck. I have a 6" sander I have used for probably 8 years and is still running. I bought another one of these 6" sanders about 2 years ago has not had a ton of use but has some. Last week it quit working acts like a problem in the switch. Just quit working won't do anything. The last Bosch 2 1/4 hp router I bought I had for about 4 months without much use did the same thing. Just quit working won't do anything. Acts like the same problem. Would NOT recommend spending the money on anything else from them! Very disappointed!!!

August 2020 Update: Fully recommend this unit at half the cost of the Festool Rotex. See video upload of a walnut and epoxy serving tray- the point isn’t whether you like to mix epoxy into your wood projects, but it’s notoriously much harder to sand epoxy properly compared to hardwoods, so I include it for reference. This unit has a fairly agressive stroke, but if you use proper slow movement technique (i.e. 1” per second) and progress through the grits properly, you can achieve very good finish sanding results, even though it can also hog out material on forced rotation mode in lower grits really well too. I think this is as close as you can get to an all-in-one sander, especially for a decent price. Dust extraction is great, especially with net sandpaper because the pad has a ton of both large and small hole patterns...two rows of the larger holes (so double what you get in a standard big box sander) plus tons of small holes similar to what you see on the more advanced Festool or 3M sandpaper. I bet the Mirka Deros wild beat this unit in finish sanding and maybe even on some other categories, and probably festool could beat it in a category like dust extraction potentially, but not sure either of those or any other sander does all that this one does for the price you pay for the Bosch. Just get this one and invest in your preferred sandpaper brand with the money you save. Original: I am very impressed by this unit. It handles extremely well. Turbo mode has more power than you can imagine but creates a beautiful and productive result. In my first use, I smoothed rough walnut stock in quick time and then went to a finer grit with the regular orbital mode to achieve an incredible surface on which to apply Rubio Monocoat. Even with a cheap shop vac, dust collection exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend this unit unless your workshop and craft somehow demands the other brand of green button tools, though I’m not sure that unit would actually be superior to this one, especially in light of the pricing difference. 10/29/19 Update: Note that the 2nd generation unit has an improved dust collection hole pattern (from what I can tell of the 1st generation’s hole pattern). There are very many smaller holes in addition to the normal larger ones that universal sanding papers have. My belief is that the 2nd generation is better positioned to take advantage of improving sand paper dust extraction technology and the new sanding nets.

Nothing new. Same as others, with a vac( I use Ridgid) and I also got the Bosch vac hose, it is longer and more pliable than the one that came with my vac, this truly is almost dustless. Likely there are particles flying around, but I can’t see them. I don’t use a Hepa filter. I use a vac switch with two power inputs on a split receptacle, but you could use a cheaper vac auto switch with one power input and two out as long as it doesn’t draw more than seven amps. Of course you can spend $1000 and get a Bosch or Makita vac, but a cheap shop vac (similar) is fine for occasional use, I would but the pro vac set off it was for job site use. The setup works well with my Makita plug in track saw as well. I only used the turbo function to see if it would work (does) but I sanded with regular mode,

I bought this sander because I have a bunch of slabs I recently bought that I want to work on. Based on the reviews I finally pulled the trigger and bought it. I am not disappointed with my purchase. The slabs I have previously had been laquered, so I need to remove that and some glue. This sander in turbo mode works well for those applications. It is also good for helping flatten slabs or laminated pieces. When I use it in normal mode its much quicker than using my old 5" sander. But 6" vs 5" is a big difference, plus the extra power. It takes some time to get use to the size of it and how to balance it. Because of the dust collection port being the long tube on the side, it takes a bit to get used to. I use it with my vacuum, with the vacuum I find there is no dust. When I dont use the vacuum there is lots of dust left on the table, so if you want to get this its best to hook it up to something (especially since it removes lots of material). It has lots of power, especially in turbo mode so it takes some effort to keep it under control. If its a big job you will get tired holding on to it, but would be worse trying to do it with a normal 5" orbital and taking many times longer. It is much better than a belt sander especially for removing lots of material quickly. It leaves a better finish and better for trying to keep things flat. The normal mode is great for typical sanding applications. Due to its size weight, awkwardness, I dont think I would use it on smaller items. So if you are considering purchasing this, think about the application you want it for. If you mainly do small tasks, you wont get the most out of it.

I have a 6' x 2.5' oak slab with lots of epoxy all over from filling many cracks and knots. I was getting nowhere with my regular 5" orbital so bought this Bosch 6". Woah on turbo mode it s fantastic, very powerful sander and much heavier/bulkier than a normal orbital sander so def not for regular day to day furniture making but for material removal it s fantastic, and 1/3 of the price of a festool rotex Dust collection working very well once hooked up to a vac

Très satisfait de mon achat. Excellente ponceuse orbitale qui travaille super bien. Seul reproche est que l'échantillon de papier à sabler qui vient dans la boite n'est pas vraiment compatible. Les trous d'aspiration n'arrivent pas vis à vis des trous dans le papier...
