My new bag of holding...
I have been carrying a Targus laptop backpack around with me for years. Well, let me qualify that a little. I have been carrying that around with me for years while I have been trying other bags. Honestly, I was perfectly happy with that Targus bag for the longest time, until I got old In the last 4 years or so, I have had some issues with my right shoulder, and slinging that backpack around on that shoulder has occasionally aggravated that. I know what you are saying, why not wear that backback as a backpack? Well, there are a lot of reasons like accessibility and convenience and comfort, along with the face that it makes me look/feel like more of a geek/dork/fat than I am already. I tried to find a good sling backpack, but they are all either ridiculously expensive, cheaply made, too small or the sling is on the right hand side. Most recently I tried a Solo messenger bag, which worked in form factor, but had it's own issues like the pocket in the flap bulged out nasty when used, the flap closure clip was single in the middle of the bag which made the bag front roll up on the corners, and the pockets just weren't adequate enough for my space needs. Enter the last try, the Rothco Vintage Classic Army Messenger Heavy Weight Shoulder Bag. This is a messenger-style bag made out of heavy/durable canvas material. It has 2 roomy front pockets big enough for me to carry all my odds and ends including my Kindle, usb drives, mail, my little travel hygene/medial kit, etc. The 2 side/drink pockets are great Normally those kinds of pockets are only 3 or 4 inches of mesh, but these are almost full bag height solid canvas pockets which work fantastic for carrying things like all my assorted cables and my glasses case, etc., and can be secured with snaps at the top. There is one small zippered pocket on the inside that is big enough to carry all your assorted pens and paraphernalia. Lastly the single main interior compartment is quite sizable. Although not padded for laptop carry itself, you could easily fit a 15'+ laptop in there with plenty of room to spare for your chargers, books, papers and probably your lunch too. Also, worth noting is that the bag, even when packed, does not look oddly malformed or too bulky to carry comfortably. I mentioned previously that this was made of durable heavy canvas. That level of durable construction appears in every aspect of the bag. The stitching is solid, the hardware all the way around is metal and build for hard use. I am quite impressed with the strap itself. It too is made of a wide width heavy canvas, attached directly to the bag and is not removable. Many other messenger bags use cheap plastic clips or thin metal dog clips which invariably bind up on something and detach at the most inopportune moment. An added bonus of the strap being canvas is it does NOT slide off my shoulder All in all it's a great bag and so far I am quite happy with it. For around $25 you just can't beat the price. I highly recommend this for the rest of you commuters, it gets 2 thumbs up!

After 2 years, Still going strong
I bought this bag will in college, and though my expectations weren't high, it has surpassed them. I have been carrying it nearly everyday, for almost two years now--first lugging books and a 13in Macbook Pro around campus, and then lugging stuff to my office or around my small town. CONSTRUCTION: Very good. The canvas is heavy duty, but not stiff. The seams and hardware are all holding up incredibly well. I've not had a single problem with it. Some of the edges are starting to fray a little bit, but nothing major at all. One minor flaw: The velcro closure method is pretty much worthless, so it won't stay closed. This isn't a problem for me. Overall, it is holding up incredibly well. USE: I carry a 13in MBP (often in an incase briefcase. Sometimes I'll carry the laptop without a sleeve, but it is unprotected. The main compartment is incredibly large. It can fit at least a 15in laptop, all the laptop peripheries, an ipad in sleeve, a textbook or two, with a little extra room. There is one small zippered inside pocket that works well for pens, cell phone charger, keys, etc. I have started to carry a small mesh bag for other accessories. The two front pockets are my favorite aspect of the bag. I use it for storing all kinds of handheld items. I keep a bible, moleskin, and Kindle in one pocket, and books and other junk in the other. The side pockets fit my 32oz Nalgene water bottle, or a coffee mug perfectly. Sometimes I'll clip my water bottle to the hardware using a caribiner. Works great. Stuffed full, the bag isn't super comfortable to carry. With a laptop, its manageable. With some books, water bottle, and iPad, it's really comfortable. For the price, the bag can't be beat. I'll probably be able to get at least another year out of it, if not more. I am, however, looking at getting a new leather briefcase bag for durability and professional reasons. The canvas just isn't the best looking thing around--but it works for me. Not sure when I'll jump to a leather bag, because this bag serves me so well.

Israeli Paratrooper Shoulder Bag
When I first started looking for a shoulder bag I wanted something that did not look to girly. I got the Olive Green Israeli Paratrooper Shoulder Bag because it kinda had this jungle look to it. Like if I am on a safari or something and does not look like a purse. The faded red logo in front of it kinda looks cool its a diamond with 2 wings on it (but it the diamond suppose to be a para-shoot). For the record I am not Israeli or support their army. They just have cool looking bags. When It first arrived as soon as I opened it and touched it I was like WOW. The marital on this is THICK (100% cotton) and feels really durable. It is one of those bags you can drag on the a rugged dirt road and nothing will happen to it. The martial adds on to the look I was hoping for. A rugged jungle looking bag. I did not measure the size, but I know it does not fit my 17 in laptop :(. So I am guessing its about 14-15 in wide. Not bad tho it is not overly big. The straps are pretty long and again looks very durable. It feels very thick and well stitched on to the rest of the bag. it comes with these latches so you can hook the strap either on the side of the bag or on the back. I like it on the side because the weight is uneven on the back of it. Either way the latches on the back add on more to the look of the bag. The inside is pretty wide and kinda deep. You can say you can fit an NBA basketball in it. It also has a divider down the middle. right outside is a smaller pocket about 6-7 in long and pretty wide. A good place to put a lot of little things in. Like a book or water bottle. That part has its own flap which can be buttoned up. With 2 buttons. It also has a muli pen/pencil holder maybe about 20 pens. (I am not counting) And finally outside the bag has a big strap which can latched on. Its not Velcro but who cares? The latches look cool. So here are some pros and cons. Pro: It is wide big enough to carry around and put a lot of stuff in. Like shoes and a small lap top. It also feels very durable. Con: I wish it had some kind of side pocket for a water bottle. But I guess I will use the small front pocket for that. You can hold a big Gatorade jug in it. That is why I gave it 4 stars lacking water bottle holders. Overall if you want a bag that looks very cool and not so much as a purse. Get this one! I love it. And for the price only 20 bucks 25 with shipping it came in less than a week; that is CHEAP! You can not beat that! A bag like this in a store will run about 40-70 bucks. I can see my self having many adventures with this bag.

The Perfect Messager Bag: Great Aesthtic, Incredible Durability, Quality Company, Perfect Price
Great Company: A few years back, I was gifted a smaller cross-body bag, made by this same company (Rothco, and that first bag I had was their 'Canvas Military Tech Bag') I liked that bag and used it for years, the canvas was very durable and comfortable. My only complaint with that bag was that it was meant to be a smaller bag, great for day trips and whatnot, but I wanted something I could use more as a 'backpack/bookbag' to carry my laptops and notebooks to college or elsewhere. Because I liked the quality and style of that first bag, I specifically sought out the same company (Rothco) for this new bag. . Size/Pockets: It is big enough to fit my laptop and notebooks in, and even have some space left over. It has one main section with a small zippered pocket within the bag (good for cash or personal items). There are two pockets on the front, under the flap (good for phone/keys/wallet/headphones/pencils/other small items). The flap closes loosely with velcro over those two pockets, and then there are two long pockets on the sides (important for me, since I wanted a pocket where I could carry my water bottle/coffee thermos). Since it is 100% cotton, it is washable on delicate cycle then hang dry, and it can be folded up small when not in use (great if you live in a dorm with limited storage). . Durability/Aesthetics: The canvas is thick and durable, as the carrying strap, which is wide and thick enough that it doesn't hurt to carry even when heavy. I appreciate that it comes unmarked (no logos), a solid color (I ordered black). The style makes it neutral and versatile, could go with any clothing and appropriate to fit many situations/formality levels (could go with a t-shirt and flip flops to the beach, or could go to carry a laptop to office hours with a respected professor, or even job interviews). I do have some friends who like the canvas since you could customize it with fabric paint or markers or have patches sewn to it if you wanted to. . I have found it to be the perfect upgrade as a young man who does not want to carry a crummy backpack anymore without looking like a "man purse". I prefer it to many of the leather briefcases and satchels I saw on the market (this is bigger and able to carry more, it is more ethical than leather, and more budget-friendly)

Very thick strong canvas, 5 🌟
I love canvas bags. I have like 10 of them. I saw this and liked the size. I like big messenger bags. This is a super thick canvas. Very strong and well made. You can put pins or patches on this to personalize it too. Nice long strap to fit for crossbody (I'm 5'10" and fat and it fits me with room to spare). I recommend

Great for travel
When I originally bought this bag, I was looking for a bag I could use as an everyday messenger bag that I could carry my laptop in or just my regular everyday items if I didn't need my laptop. Unfortunately, I am completely awful at judging sizes online. I see the numbers and I can visualize what 15 inches is, so I think this must be fine! But no, I received the bag and it was HUGE! I tried using it for a couple days, and when I had my laptop with me it was pretty okay, and didn't feel overwhelmingly huge or anything, but if I went out with my wallet, kindle, phone, regular things I carry in my bag, I felt like I was drowning. I didn't return it, however, and I still give it 5 stars. This may seem like a contradiction, but in the end, this bag has actually worked out amazingly. Now, I use this bag when I travel. I like to travel for concerts, and I usually end up just going somewhere for one night or maybe 3-5 if I am going to a festival, and this bag has turned out to be absolutely perfect for this! Before, I was using an even bigger bag! And when I had only one night to pack for, that was totally impractical, so now, if I go for one night, I can use this bag to pack clothes, pajamas, hygiene stuff, and my computer stuff. That's basically all I need. If I am going somewhere for a longer period of time, I may take a separate bag for my computer stuff, but this bag is big enough to fit a very good amount of stuff in it. I'm also a good packer from lots of airline travel where I had to squeeze everything I owned into bags, so I can fit a lot more than someone might expect in this bag. I once took a bus trip for a week only using this bag, and the clerk was very surprised I was going to be gone a week and had nothing to check. This bag has made it so convenient and easy. It's also nice looking, very gender neutral. I really don't know what I would do without this bag. I really lucked out buying the wrong product in this case!

Good Bag for the price
I was looking for a medium size canvas bag to carry a few work files and small materials. My previous bag (A Jack Bauer bag from the TV show 24, "Season 2" finally wore out). When I typed in "Jack Bauer bag", hoping to find the same bag I had, this bag appeared. This bag must be a newer bag in later seasons. Anyway, this bag is good, but a lot bigger than I thought so I will be using it for travel rather than a work bag. I wouldn't recommend this bag for a laptop unless you are very careful with the way you handle the bag off your shoulder. I think this bag will be a good "carry on" bag or if you have large files, stacks of papers, magazines and/or small books to carry to school or work, then it would be a good bag to buy for the price. It stays on your shoulder okay and has five small pockets: One small pocket on each end, two medium pockets under the flap side by side, and one very small zipper pocket inside. The velcro holds down the flap okay unless you have something very heavy inside, like a laptop or heavy books. It only has a shoulder strap and not a hand handle like my other one did. All and All, a good bag for the price.

The men's version of a bag for every occasion
If you have a job with a dress code that says no jeans/shorts, or travel on mass transit, you should not wear a backpack. I guarantee you're hitting some lady in the face with it and that is not nice. Plus you look like a turtle who is on his way to 3rd grade, not your big boy job as a business analyst. But I know, you don't want a briefcase and have a bunch of stuff to bring to/from work. So here's a great solution. A good-looking, durable canvas bag that is versatile enough to look appropriate with almost any level of dress without looking too stuffy or too casual. I have a nice leather bag and "downgraded" to this one when I realized the leather was leaving marks on my clothing. But, this bag looks great and functions better than any of my other bags. There are pockets on the side and front for stuff like travel mugs and keys, and it's big enough to fit my lunch and gym clothes. But it's not overly bulky, and it's easy to control, so you're not hitting people with it when you turn around. There's no specific pocket for your iPad, it's all one big compartment. I like that though, it makes it easier to arrange stuff in the bag. I do wish it had a magnetic or snap closure rather than velcro, but for a bag at this price point, I'm more than happy with it. I like it better than my expensive leather bag, no question.

Great all purpose bag
I'd been looking for an all-purpose bag for work for quite some time. Had all the paralysis by analysis syndrome as I needed to pack notebooks, a Macbook, Sony tin headphones, an iPad, charger cables, pens, pencils, INIU power pack, a bottle of water, plus more. Mid paralysis I was sitting watching an episode of '24' and saw the bag Jack Bauer uses for his field kit. On a whim I searched and found that the bag he used was commercially available, and for under £40! Being an anorak I purchased one. PRODUCT: The bag is spacious and there is plenty of room for all the above just using the large central compartment, however, the two front and side pockets are reasonably large and the side pockets easily accommodate a litre bottle of water. The bag is secured by a large over-flap that is velcroed. An adjustable carry strap can be lengthed or shortened to the wearer's needs, and it is comfortable either worn with the strap across the chest or just hanging from the shoulder. When placed down the bag invariable sits squarely on the surface and doesn't flip over when fully loaded as above. The bag is made of solid canvas material and the straps are held to the bag with robust metal rectangular holdings. I've used it daily since purchase and am delighted with its practicability for my needs. This may be for you if you're after an inexpensive, practical bag. Even if you're not doing field ops for CTU!
