Satnam Wooden Tabla Tuning Blocks (Gattas) Sticks - Set of 8 Tuning Blocks

Great tuning blocks! I installed all 8 of these tuning blocks on a baya (i.e., the big bass drum) from a Musician's Mall regular Bombay tabla set. They provide a great improvement to the baya as sold (without tuning blocks) by allowing me to tune the baya to the daya. I used the claw end of the tabla hammer (included with the tabla set) to pull the baya straps away from the drum while pushing the tuning blocks through the straps (two straps per tuning block).

Even though the round ends are not big enough, the stick is long so does the job really well.

What seems like a good deal, turned out to be an ok deal. What I got was nowhere near as uniform in color or shape, and the ends were conical, not spherical. It looked like 8 different people attempted to make each of these pegs, and then traded at the last minute to work on one end of their classmate’s peg. Despite being bait and switched, these turned out to work ok on my tabla bayan. I thought they were too thin, but I had to wrest them in because my straps are tight. By slightly alternating them, and keeping them close to the head, I’ve created the pitch I need to have.

All different. There were 8 not 10. And 3 were cracked badly.
