I Love the Game, but Buyer Beware
01/29/14 So far, the product is great. I've played the game for about three hours now and no technical problems have occurred thus far. I have been pleased with the game experience as well. The fourth gen look and format really makes the game pop out, and the features from third and fourth gen Pokemon games are really nice to have as well. However, I thought the shipping was ridiculous. When I first ordered this, I was wary of the 67% approval rating of the seller. At first I wasn't even going to buy from Leolx, but then I decided it would probably be better to buy from an Ohio outlet since I live in Ohio. I figured it would take less time for the product to reach my apartment. Of course, the week I ordered this, we got buckets of snow, and MLK Day also occurred days after the order. I anticipated the game would arrive by Saturday or so. It really shouldn't take more than three days to ship a package from one end of Ohio to the other. So, by Saturday I figured, okay, it's probably here. The package was being processed in my hometown and I figured it would arrive on Saturday. Yet, when I looked up the tracking process the next day, the package was 470 miles away in Nashville, Tennessee! I nearly spilled my dinner in shock. How and why on earth did this happen? I thought the package was ready to be delivered. I sent an email to Leolx asking what was up, but never received a response. That's pretty pathetic, if you ask me. When I received the package today (01/29), I was even more shocked to know the seller is out of my hometown! Why would it take over a week to ship an expedited package from the seller to my apartment?? I again acknowledge the weather has been nasty, but there is simply no excuse for the service I received. I ordered a 2 to 6 day expedited shipment for an infinitesimally sized product, (the package contained only the cartridge), and from my hometown no less! I am extremely upset with the seller and even more upset I ignored my gut feeling to avoid this seller. If you're like me and want to buy from someone relatively close to your Ohio home, carefully consider your options. Overall, the three stars represent 1) the great quality of the product 2) the amount of fun I've had playing it so far and 3) the hopes the seller Leolx will improve their shipping. I will update this review in the future after I've had more time to play. *Update* 01/30/14 I'm about fourteen hours into the game so far and I've beaten the Violet City and Azalea Town gym leaders. I'm currently in Goldenrod City and I own 22 pokemon. I love the visual effects and the formatting, but I believe I stumbled upon an issue with the game. After reaching Goldenrod, I explored the Game Corner and got the coin case from Mr. Game. However, when I go to play against him, the screens are black and only the music is playing. I don't know if this is a problem with the game cartridge or the DS, but I've turned the game on and off a few times to see if restarting would work. This has not worked. I'll be sure to find out the reason for this, but if anyone can help me with this I'd appreciate it. *Update* 01/31/14 I have changed my rating of this product back to two stars after the following experience: I currently have the first four gym badges, and I have made it to Olivine City. However, I can no longer say I have any confidence in the person who sold the game. When I went to resume the game today, I got two black screens with the Olivine City music playing in the background. I couldn't actually resume without starting a completely new game. I went online to find out what this could be and found a forum on the Nintendo website talking about the same problem. Apparently the black screens occur for some people after beating the fourth gym player: they save their game after beating the gym leader, come back later to resume and get the two black screens of death. According to some of the people in the forum, the problem is likely linked to a fake cartridge. The following message is from the forum (at [...]) Jan 5, 2012 7:47 AM in response to: -------- Re: Soul Silver Leading Problem If you are playing this game on a DS or DS-Lite, it is possible that the game is counterfeit. You can verify this by trying it in a DSi, DSiXL or 3DS. If it does not play at all and gives a message that an error has occurred on any of these systems, then the game is counterfeit, and you should return it to the seller. I was devastated to learn that this could be a counterfeit product. I spent some time trying the forum-recommended tests on my DS; for one, some people recommended blowing on the cartridge and in the slot to dislodge any dust. I tried this and all of my other games work perfectly on the DS, including Pokemon Diamond version. However, Soul Silver still did not work. I may very well have bought a counterfeit game. I cannot account for this claim, but I recommend buyers everywhere to take extreme caution buying this game. The link I provided has a lot of incidents where people bought Pokemon SoulSilver from an online source and got a bad product. I would recommend finding a brand-new, never opened version of the game. Your chances of getting a working product will likely be much higher. I still love this game, though. It's been a lot of fun so far and a five out of five star game for sure. I just hope to find a version of this that will actually work. I requested to return the product today and I hope to get at least half of my money back. Again, I recommend buying a brand spanking-new version of the game if at all possible. *Update* 02/04/14 I currently have a brand new copy of the game, and so far I've managed to regain about a third of my original pokemon. The new copy came much faster than the first one. It has worked satisfactorily so far. I don't really have much to say at the moment until I reach the level I was at with my previous card. The person who sold me the first copy still hasn't responded to my return request. I do not recommend you buy from this person: Leolx. The new copy I have is from Games-2-Play. I'm happy with the fast delivery they offered, but I can't say much else about them as well until further gameplay. *Update* 02/05/14 I've just reached Goldenrod City and I was excited yet nervous to test out the game corner. When I went to play there with my original game card from Leolx, the screens went black with the music still playing in the background. However, I can thankfully say the Games-2-Play store sold me a good copy: the game corner works! Getting an unopened version of the game is definitely the safest way to ensure you do not get a glitchy game. This makes the product even more appealing to me since I was afraid the game was going to be glitched no matter what condition the game card is. It seems to me then the first game card I got was in bad shape through use of its previous owner. However, I'm not entirely sold yet. There's one more potential obstacle I'm aware of and I'm hoping I don't experience it with the new game card. I'm updating my rating to three stars. *Update* 02/17/14 I've long since beaten the Elite Four. This means I am completely satisfied with my purchase from Games-2-Play. The game is even more fun knowing I got a working copy. I was able to get past the fourth gym leader without worrying about getting the black screens of death after saving, quitting and returning to the game. I hope that other prospective buyers will consider Games-2-Play. When I purchased from them, the product arrived on time and in great condition. The game is loads of fun. A lot of differences do exist between SoulSilver and Silver, but in my opinion, it is a worthwhile game. I update my rating to five stars.

100% Authentic cartridge in very good condition *DISCLAIMER BELOW*
The most important thing I can say is that GamerGirlzOnline is an authentic cartridge seller. I read some previous reviews and noticed some people got an authentic original Nintendo DS version of Soul Silver so I decided to give them a try. My package arrived 8 days early (as others have said it arrives very fast) and I immediately went to check the cartridge for faults. The front label is in amazing condition considering the game is over a decade old, a couple of minor indentations but you’ll never find one this clean other than an unopened package. The cartridge is black (NOT grey) and clean, and it passed the light test. I shone a light through and it came out a nice wine color, meaning it has trading compatibilities with other official Pokémon games. The serial numbers matched up on the label and the plastic indentations on the back. The metal pieces at the bottom of the game are in fact a golden color, which means it doesn’t fade easily and is made with higher grade metal. There is a small rectangular indent at the top, which indicates it’s authenticity seeing as fake cartridges miss that detail. The game plays very smoothly and has not crashed. The music sounds clear and exactly how it should. Game corner works which is a deal breaker since most fakes crash in goldenrod city. GamerGirlsOnline is legitimate 100% based on the reviews I’ve read from them and the game I managed to obtain. They gave me a piece of candy and a seal of authenticity which gives you a small tutorial on how to spot a fake game from a real one. I’m very surprised by this and was expecting to be an unlucky buyer and receive a fake- but I didn’t, and most likely you won’t from this source. This is my first review but it’s necessary given how hard it is to find authentic Soul Silver cartridges. If you’re reading this: GamerGirlsOnline is the seller you should buy from- unless another seller on here has a better reputation (which at this time I’ve looked at all of them and to no avail) THIS is the place you want to buy from. Worth the money too considering the prices are rising

I was robbed
This game was a pirated fake. The first time I powered it on and loaded the save file it froze, black screen with music playing. I dismissed it and started a new file. A short time after I reached the fighting gym the same thing happened again. I had no idea that fake games like this existed until I researched it. And this game showed all the signs: it does not rattle when shook, it does not have the code under the nintendo seal is a different font, the codes on the front and back don't match, the word 'pokemon' is slightly discolored, lugia's roar is hardly audible during the opening sequence. And to top it off I have gotten a hold of the seller, printed out the label, mailed it back, and they claim it is not recieved. Never trust independant sellers as its easy for them to write items returned as 'not recieved'. I have been trying to deal with this problem for months but the seller was just leading me on until it was too late for me to file A-Z.

Blast from the Past
I bought this game pretty much entirely because I used to play Gold and Silver back in the days of Game Boy Color. My girlfriend bought the SoulSilver version, and it's been great times for both of us so far. This is a great recreation and enhancement of the original Pokemon Gold game. If you didn't like that one, this probably isn't for you. That being said, if you did like it, you're also in for some additional fun from there - with the addition of new Pokemon, new areas, multi-battles, DS Wireless, online play (if you can find a WEP-encrypted wireless connection, that is), and more, it's a blast. If you're used to the old Game Boy Color graphics like I was, the graphics will totally blow you away too. One of the things I dig the most about the game is actually the cheesy little peripheral included with it: the Pokewalker. It's a pedometer that you can load one of your Pokemon into, and it gains experience and Watts as you walk. The more you use it, the more little paths you uncover, and the more you can find on it. I think it's a cool way to level up a Pokemon while I'm living my real life, especially for Pokemon like Magikarp or Ditto that can be somewhat tougher to level up on their own. The device surprised me by how inconspicuous it can be: sure, it's shaped like a Pokeball, but it's tiny and you can mute it and stick it in your pocket, and voila! Having a pedometer is also kind of a neat way to encourage a little extra exercise, or appease your morbid curiosity about how many steps you take at work. You can also play on the Pokewalker a little bit and either find items or catch other Pokemon, which then transfer back into your game. Pretty sweet stuff! My least favorite thing about the game is that I can't find a suitable wireless connection to play on WiFi. I have a DSi, and it can connect to pretty much any wireless network you need it to for its own internet purposes, but it HAS to be a WEP-encrypted connection for any games to work. It seems short-sighted of Nintendo to design games that rely on what is very quickly becoming outdated internet protocol. Long story short, some McDonalds or libraries may have the connection you need, it seems none in Flint do. There are ways around this, and I'm looking into this - there's apparently a USB Bluetooth adapter that can do the job, but either way, it's pretty challenging. Of course, many home routers can be switched between WEP and WPA, I just happen to have one of the few that can't. Long story short, if you like any of the previous Pokemon games, buy this one. It's a blast. It's also very different from the other Generation IV games, i.e. Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum, so don't worry if you have any of those - this is still a fun investment.

Soul silver and heart gold, best pokemon remakes!!!!
Pokemon heart gold and soul silver are the best pokemon remakes. Great graphics, sound track, and improvements. Fire red and leaf green were amazing remakes, but heart gold and soul silver are better. Great gameplay, awesome game. Improvements 1.Pokemon stay out of their pokeballs-The pokemon in the front of your team stays out of its pokeball. This is alot like pokemon yellow. Your pokemon can give items sometimes,so talk to it. 2.A story with suicone-Sort of like crystal, heart gold and soul silver has a story with suicone. 3.Pokewalker-You can transfer your pokemon into the pokewalker, and it gains experience by walking around and holding it. 4.Trade wirelessly-Like diamond/pearl/platinum,you can trade wirelessly and trade from diamond/pearl/platinum. 5.Running shoes-The original gold and silver never had running shoes. Now,you can run where ever you want. 6.New legendary pokemon-More legendary pokemon to catch. The honnen trio needs a event by beating the story, and the shino one need an event, too. Not sure if their still able to get. Probley not. But,you can get latias(in heart gold). Or latios.(in soul silver). You can even get mewtwo!!!! And even celabi!!!!(but, that was another, event, not sure if it's still possible to do it). 7.Three starters-the kanto, johto, and honnen starter pokemon are available. 8.Mount.Silver has been remade-Mount.Silver is where the final boss of the story is. Sadly,it's remade into a difficult maze. Gameplay=9/10 Everything is awesome about the gameplay. It's much better then gold and silver. The only problem is,is that the pokemon levels are so low!!!! Real hard to train. Overall, awesome!!!! Best pokemon story!!!! Two regions,16 badges, hundreds of pokemon, and tons of puzzles!!!! Graphics=10/10 Great graphics!!!! Much more realistic then other pokemon games. Awesome quality, color, and effects. Best graphics for a pokemon DS game. Difficulty=10/10 Yes,this game is hard. Clair, the 8th gym leader,is so HARRRRRRRRRRRRRD!!!! It took me forever to beat her. Morty, the 4th gym leader,....HE'S SO ANNOYING!!!! ALL HE DOES IS HYPNOSIS AND DREAM EATER!!!! And then,lance....I've played the original pokemon silver, lance was a pain. His dragonites drive me crazy!!!! He has to be strong in this one.(never made it to lance in the remakes). Overall, hard game, but still great. Music=10/10 Awesome music!!!! Best pokemon soundtrack ever!!!! The remix of the kanto wild pokemon theme is awesome!!!! So is lances and reds theme. The music for the game beats the new music!!!! Overall, this game is amazing. This is one of the best, pokemon games. Highly recommended to anyone who never played gold or silver. Wonderful remake,of a beloved classic. One of nintendos greatest remakes.

Solid party based RPG.
I remember playing Pokemon Red on my Gameboy Pocket when it came out, just to put things into perspective. Red became red and blue, gold and silver, ruby and sapphire, diamond and pearl and I dont even consider myself a fan of pokemon and yet have played each installment along the way. Simply put Pokemon puts a new take on many popular leveling and party based RPG mechanics. As with most RPGs, you get to level a character or characters along the way, well in pokemon there are 100 levels and it takes quite some time to get there, so there is plenty to work towards. On top of that, each pack has roughly 150 pokemon (often some are new with certain ones from older generations making cameos) to catch until you unlock the ability to trade ones from other packs and unlock however many the current total is. Simply put the ability to catch hundreds of different characters with different abilities, type combinations and moves amounts to lots and lots of possibilities. That open-endedness combined with a very linear but not dull storyline puts most other RPGs to shame. Plenty of options but hard to get lost. In a nutshell, the graphics and storyline are very PG so dont expect more, but the game mechanics behind it are top notch and what makes the game so addictive. That being said there are a few things about silver worth noting. The pokemon in your top slot follows you around. Ever since yellow I wished I could walk around with my starter or other favorite pokemon. Wish granted. Functionally its pretty much irrelevant but is a very fun touch added to the game. Lets just hope they still follow you around for black and white. The graphics are on par with Diamond and Pearl. The map is still a tile based grid, and everything is from a top down view, but compared with the previous generations it is a very lush experience.

Good Times are back... Only Remastered!!
I totally Love It!! Everything especially scenery graphics are remastered and the battle songs and others were remastered as well. Though I must say that it's just not the same as the old classic Gold version. Cause out of all honesty I thought the Gym battle theme in Kanto was just amazing. The best part of all the game is that once you Defeat ALL 16 Gym leaders you can get this device that changes the game audio to it's classic GameBoy sound with that being said it gives you the feel of good ol memories from when you were a kid playing Gold and Silver on your Game Boy Color. And what makes this game even more Interesting is that on a certain day and time each gym leader will be taking a break from their Gym and go off some where. That's where you come in and find them, When you do, talk to them and you will get their phone Number for your Poke' Gear and they even tell you what day and time to call em for a rematch. This time they're tough with their new team. Especially some of their pokemon are from the Sinnoh region. And what makes this game better than the Original is that You can collect lots of phone numbers even more than the Original cause on the Original you were only able to keep a certain amount to the point where you had to delete some to make room for some. Which that didn't make it any easier... And the Battle Scene is just Beautiful especially the fight with team Rocket. If you're a Pokemon fan and you loved Gold and Silver. GET THIS NOW!!! You won't be sorry!! And this is a MUST HAVE

Pokemon Heart Gold; Freakin' Excellent
I haven't beaten Heart Gold Version yet, but I've gotten pretty darn close. You see, I grew up with Pokemon. As an 18 year old, I was in the middle of all the hype back in the day of old school GBA cartridges. So I played Red, Blue, Yellow; Hell, I even played Green version on a special Japanese Game boy when I lived on the Air Force base in Yakota, Japan. I got both Gold and Silver versions when they came out; Loved em. Needless to say, Pokemon and Nintendo were a very big part of my childhood. I never really could get into Pearl/Diamond Versions; I borrowed Pearl from a friend for a bit. But when I heard that they released Heart Gold/Soul Silver versions as remakes for the DS, I was soooo stoked! I immediately got all nostalgic for the good ol' days of staying up late under the covers, playing the crap out of Silver/whatever. Man did I go through so many AA's back then... HA! The premise of the Pokémon series is this: You are a boy or girl wandering through the world trying to catch as many of several hundred elusive creatures, known singly and collectively as Pokémon, as you can. Once you leash one and it becomes part of your menagerie, you then train it and make it more powerful by carrying it around and deploying it in battles against other trainers. So Pokemon HG/SS are back and better than ever. Here's an overview of all or most of the features. If I forgot anything, well, tough noodles. Here we go; - Heart Gold is nice looking and fairly pretty, with the same engine used for Diamond/Pearl versions. Especially impressive is the 3D animated Ho-Oh/Lugia flying or swimming. Honestly, the Lugia animated intro looks totally bitchin' compared to the simple(yet nice) Ho-Oh animation. But don't let that affect your decision. - The PokeGear is back and better than ever, with a menu that stays open at all times, for ease of use. - If you remember way back in Yellow version, how Pikachu follows you everywhere? Well, the same thing happens in HG/SS versions; the difference being, it's the first Pokemon in your party that follows you, regardless of what Pokemon. So even if you have a huge Pokemon like Lugia or Groudon or SOMETHING as your first, primary Pokemon, they WILL follow you. But because they're so damn big, they'll return to their poke balls when you enter buildings. Caves and forests? Psht, you're good to go! - Pal Park; my best friend. Pal Park is something that was introduced in Diamond/Pearl versions. Here's what it is; Pal Park enables you to permanently transfer over any 6 Pokemon of your choosing from any GBA version of Pokemon, EXACTLY AS THEY WERE. For instance, if you had a level 88 MewTwo with a "Impish" nature, and a certain set of moves; you can transfer it over to HG/SS as soon as you reach the town with the safari zone(name escapes me at the moment. Yeah. That's awesome. In fact, I've been replaying my copy of Ruby version just so I can transfer over a Rayquaza for my epic team of epicness in my HG version. One thing, though; your DS has to have a GBA slot for the GBA Pokemon games, otherwise your SOL.. - You can now do Gym Leader Rematches. That's pretty self-explanatory.. - Because of the Pal Park system, and the ability to trade with Diamond/Pearl versions, AND the advent of the Action Replay cheating device, it's possible to get pretty much ALL THE POKEMON EVER IN THE WORLD in HG/SS versions. Oh, excluding, of course, the newly released Black/White Versions. - There are some new areas created specifically for the sake of putting new things in. For instance, there is some tower or something that is accessible after beating Trainer Red. In this area, it's possible to capture either Groudon(SS) or Kyogre(HG). You can even get a Rayquaza, but you gotta have both Groudon and Kyogre FROM SS OR HG. They also changed the Suicune story a little bit. But don't worry, purists, it's just fine the way it is. - The Poke Walker; Everything about the PokéWalker is focused on walking, a pedometer built into the device counts steps taken throughout the day, resetting to zero at midnight, but storing the information along with a complete index of everyday you've spent with the device. Walking is like a currency as it builds up "watts" that are used to play two activities available directly on the device. I can choose to carry Pokémon in my pocket and achieve results by simply going through the motions of my day, adding to the game while doing some of those occasional aggravations that take me away from it, such as work, family, eating, and sleep. It doesn't really matter whether the PokéWalker is in the hands of a kid or in ones belonging to someone looking to get a bit nostalgic with the Pokémon series, the device makes us all equal when I gladly admit that I'm leaving a meeting to take my HootHoot for a walk. I'm going to put it out there and say that the whole package here makes this game a far more rewarding deal than that RPG getting all the noise this month, not to invite a frivolous argument, but because I dare you to pick this up and try to act disinterested. Sorry about the wall of text, but uh.. yeah. Enjoy! I hope this was informative and helpful! :)

Awesomely Addictive!
So, it was 2013 and I still hadn't played one pokemon game. I looked on many websites as to what pokemon game is the best. There were loads of different games suggested, but my mind eventually settled on Pokemon SoulSilver, and what a great game to start me on the pokemon saga. I currently have 6 gym badges, so roughly around halfway through. I also thought the 12 gym badges instead of the usual 6 really lengthen the game a lot. This game is definitely worth the money. Gameplay: Addictive. I love the feeling of catching wild pokemon and adding them to my pokedex. Trust me, there are loads of them for both Johto and Kanto. I have also just taken to walking through the long grass to fight wild pokemon to level up my pokemon, give them new moves and, more importantly, seeing what cool evolution they are going to take on next. After you have beat the game don't worry, as there is still side quests to complete. Music: Good music for different areas that helped bring out the atmosphere in them. Every pokemon has a different sound when they come into battle as well. Pokemon: They all look pretty cool. As mentioned before, it is really exciting when your pokemon evolve as you don't know how they are going to change. May that be getting bigger muscles, developing legs or something else. Gameplay length: I have played this game for 43 hours already and I am in Mahogany Town and I only have 6 gym badges, halfway through the amount. There is also Kanto which is a new land I haven't reached yet. Of course Kanto has its own pokemon as well! As mentioned before there are also side quests to complete after you beat the story. Pokewalker: This is a great new addition to the pokemon series. When I go out walking I take my pokewalker with me. You can find items and level up your pokemon in your pokewalker when you transfer it back to your DS. Overall: 10/10 without question. This is the best DS game I have ever played and I will definitely go back and play it again. I will also play the other games in the series, which I hope will be as fantastic and addictive as this one.
