what time of sprockets/wheels fit in the chain?

Lego haunted house elevator chain is too short. Not sure why. I followed all instructions. Are these links compatible?

Look at the piece close. It should have lego logo as well as a part number. It is tiny, but it is there. If its not, then I would return to the person you bought from. As for the Haunted house, I believe it takes extra links.

Are the sprockets the same as the gears?
