Will This Remove My Type of Mastic or Flooring Adhesive?

Type 1 mastics are water-resistant and may require longer dwell times. Type 2 mastics are commonly found on concrete floors and typically remove more easily. Black mastics also soften well but often create a messier cleanup process.

How Does Adhesive Thickness Affect Removal Time?

Thin layers usually soften and liquefy quickly. Thick applications, especially over 1/8 inch, may require several hours of dwell time. Keep the product wet while it works to ensure maximum effectiveness.

How Long Should I Let the Product Work?

Allow at least 1 hour of dwell time for best results. Black mastics often soften within 1 to 2 hours, while vinyl and acrylic mastics may take 4 to 8 hours. Stubborn adhesives can require longer dwell times.

What Conditions Deliver the Best Results?

Best results on clean, dry concrete at 55°F–85°F. Let sit at least 1 hour and keep wet while working. Thin mastic removes faster; thicker or older adhesive may need longer dwell time to fully soften and release.

What's the Best Way to Clean Up After Removal?

For black mastics, apply an absorbent material such as oil-dry before collecting the residue. Lighter mastics can typically be scooped into a disposal container. Always clean the surface thoroughly before installing new flooring.
