Chef Craft Select Slotted Sturdy Skimmer, 13 inch, Stainless Steel

This item has turned out to be one of my favorite kitchen utensils as it's great for so many uses. I originally purchased it to replace a cheaper version that came with one of my Big Daddy Fryers. This item is well-made and is easy to clean. The handle length is perfect for getting my fried fish out of the fryer without getting popped by the grease. The price is well worth it for all that we use it for.

Am I not using this utensil for cooking. Another reviewer mentioned using this as a kitty litter waste scoop. So I decided to give it a try. This is very good for scooping! A mesh scoop is great for very small bits but this works very good for the bigger bits. It's easier to handle and maneuver around the litter box. It does well at scraping if needed. Boxie Cat Air litter sifts easily through the slots, meaning less dust clouds. It's lightweight and pretty solid tool. The design of the "scoop" makes it easier to get in corners. I'm not putting this in the dishwasher. But it cleans off well if it does get cruddy.

This product is made strong and sturdy. Perfect for scooping and straining. A must have if you do any deep frying! I always keep one or two in my drawer.

... an instapot or slow cooker, you will at some point be glad you have a skimmer shaped like this. It is cheap stamped steel so be careful of the edges, and soon corrosion will be an issue if not cleaned and dried well. The handle is cheap plastic, almost like the old bakelite stuff, so it will likely not survive the lower rack in the dishwasher many times. Still, it will do fine till I can find a good one.

I started using a slotted skimmer like this a few years back for cat litter, after reaching wit's end from the horrible plastic ones. Out of desperation I grabbed one from the kitchen and to my surprise, it worked amazingly, especially for clumping litter, which can leave small clumps that fall through the plastic scoops. so if you have a cat and you're getting one of these skimmers for cooking, get two. You'll be pleasantly surprised. Just make sure to remember which is which.

These are amazing kitchen tools. So versitle and great to have. Every kitchen should have one.

You do wonder how many of these are ever used for cooking. Going by the reviews, most people use it for cat clumping litter and no wonder, it’s perfect. Strong, with quite a sharp edge so it cuts through clay clumping litter with no bother at all. Its shape means it gets really close to the tray wall and the holes are narrow enough to filter out clean litter while retaining the used bits. It lives up to its name, really sturdy. Like some other reviewers, I’d been using a skimmer which was about 60 years old, and never thought I’d find one as good. This one is.

This scoop works great for kitty litter. Strong and lasts way longer than the plastic one they sell for that purpose.
