Great value and excellent cooking for a 120v Countertop cooking surface
I bought this to try out induction. I seriously disliked my ceramic top electric stove and was looking to replace it with a high end gas range with an upcoming kitchen renovation. However, the amount of "waste heat" you get in a kitchen from gas always bugged me and I've seen more and more positive things about induction. So, I bought this unit to see what I thought about it before making my final decision on what my new kitchen range would be (Gas or Induction) My wife and I tried it out for about a month and it was so much better than the old electric cook top that we pretty much used this exclusively unless we absolutely had to have two or more burners going at once. Cooking with induction is just as responsive as gas (turn down the heat, it goes down immediately, crank it up, it cranks immediately) and this cook top even plugged in to a wall outlet (just a 120v circuit) boiled a whole pot of water in under 1/2 to 1/3 the time that the standard electric stove did. Yes, we had several good pots and pans that were not induction compatible - we knew that going in but we were so happy with this burner that we decided we could commit to full induction. Ended up buying a Frigidaire Induction range and are very happy with it. However, that's not the end of the tale here - we still find this cook top to be useful - we had a bunch of friends over for a dinner get together the other week and used this as a convenient "fifth burner" and then switched it over to being a warmer The temperature specific control is a feature even our full induction range doesn't have (the ability to set this unit to a specific temperature instead of just 1 to 10) .. it's really really useful for holding /warming a dish of food for serving thought the night at a safe temp but not burning it. The unit stays pretty cool to the touch and we're about to switch back to using it for daily cooking while the aforementioned kitchen renovation takes place (we liked Induction cooking so much that we bought the new stove before hand since we could buy and swap out the stove right away without waiting for the renovation to run a gas line. So, this is as much a review of induction cooking as this burner but .. if you're looking for a decent countertop burner, this is way better than a classic electric model and the induction cooking is powerful enough for daily cooking. The unit is easy enough to keep clean and we can stow it away in a cupboard when not in use. It's great for an extra burner when your stove is extra full (like managing holiday cooking etc) and it serves very well as a chafing/warming burner due to the temp setting.

Great Cooktop Overall
This induction cooktop heats quickly, cooks evenly, and is very easy to use. The controls are intuitive, and it feels well-built and reliable for everyday cooking. It’s also easy to clean, which is a big plus. The only downside is that it can be a bit noisy at times, especially when running at higher power levels. Other than that, it performs excellently and I’m very happy with the purchase. It came in clutch during my kitchen remodel.

If you are in a dorm or oven without a hotplate, BUY THIS
I am absolutely blown away by the performance of this tiny, fairly cheap burner. I live in a small dorm at my university without a meal plan, and have zero way of cooking food without going down to the communal kitchen; however, due to my allergies, I am largely unable to utilize its appliances as the risk of cross-contamination is far too high for my liking. So, in an effort to find a way that I could cook both safely and privately, I decided to order this little cooktop in hopes that it would do the job. Safe to say, I was blown away by its performance. There isn't much else to say other than it functions like a regular, full-size burner on an oven. The heat level is decent, but it can overheat when first turning it on, and it works even when plugged into a power strip. If I could, I'd give it a 4.5, but it's done too much for me on late, hungry nights for me to settle for anything less than a 5.

Works well; happy with it, given the price. A great way to try induction
I've been using this for about 18 months now, for many things, instead of my gas cooktop. I got it because I wanted to try out induction cooking, and I'm not thrilled with using a gas cooktop (which came with my house) - I don't like having open flames anywhere in my house, and I'm not thrilled with the air pollution caused by the burning of natural gas in the house. The Duxtop cooktop performs pretty well; probably worth 4.3 stars (but not 5). I'll check back in in another year or so (esp. if the unit stops performing adequately) to update this review. I can identify two small issues. The first is pretty minor. 1. The lowest setting is just a little too hot for a lengthy slow cook of chopped onion - but if you add water, it will be fine. If you do a lot of cooking over very low heat, the unit might not work for you for this. (I'm not sure whether more expensive induction cooktops would have such a low setting.) 2. If your pan goes dry, it can get extremely hot very quickly. It would be better if this cooktop had a safety switch which shut off the unit if the pan gets too hot. I unplug it when not using it. I haven't used this for frying; I use my gas cooktop for that. That's because I have this induction cooktop on the counter, near a wall, and I don't want to be cleaning up oil spatter on the wall and counter, and also because the frying pans I usually use are not induction compatible. I use the Duxtop almost daily, if for nothing else, heating water. It works really well for long, slow cooking in heavy bottom pans (soups, stews, pulled bbq chicken, etc.), or cooking vegetables with a steam in a sauce pan. It would work well if you need an extra burner at holidays. I think getting one, or two of these cooktops would work as well as having an induction cooktop, and would be much cheaper. Most people rarely use more than two burners at a time. Try this - you might discover you don't need to spend >$1,000 for a new induction range.

This is a wonderful kitchen tool
This is a fantastic little induction "hot plate" that works extremely well. I could argue that it works better than some range cooktops. Clearly, you need to have the right pan, pot or skillet. That's about the only downside I can see. It gets hot very quickly, while the cooling fan is audible, I am not getting any odd noises from the induction process itself. For the price of this unit, a person could give induction a try before deciding on a range, or simply use it for jobs that it does better than other types of cooktops. I think it's impressive. Additional detail: We have an induction range in one of our homes. I like it a lot. So, as part of a remodeling in another home, we are replacing a GE Monogram pro-style, dual-fuel range with an induction range. I had **two** tradesmen at different times ask me for the range we are replacing. One person said they had an induction range and would rather have my old range... There is a certain amount of personal taste associated with range types, I'd guess. I understand completely. (Induction is exceptionally fast, comparatively safe, efficient (doesn't throw off a bunch of extra heat) and cleanup of a glass surface is easier than exposed burners and grates. I invite you to try one of these little induction plates and see for yourself.) So, one of the tradesmen has my old dual-fuel range, and we don't have the new one yet. "What do we do now?" I bought this little induction unit. After a couple of days, my wife said, "You were smart!" That praise is kinda like winning a Nobel Prize. LOL. This little induction unit compares VERY favorably to the gas cooktop on the range we just removed. Surprisingly so. It sets on the counter, so it's a couple inches higher than a flush range would sit. It has a power cord, so a person should be careful and avoid pulling the unit off of the counter or spilling whatever you are cooking. And, yes... after using it, I did say to myself, "Boy, this works surprisingly well... In 2020, do we really need these big ol' ranges and cooktops???" But I only said that to myself. I still want the new range. Very nice product. I highly recommend it.

Using with a Presto 23 quart pressure cooker - Here's some helpful hints
I bought this specifically to use with a Presto 23 Quart Induction Pressure Cooker for mycology. Cooking inside created unnecessary heat and unwanted odors, and my crappy electric stove had neither a timer nor good temperature control. This was the solution! Here are my comments and tips . . . - The diameter of the actual induction cooking ring is 8.5", whereas the base of the Presto is 8" . . PERFECT! Note that the Presto's diameter of the cooker is wider, but the actual BASE that makes contact with the cooker is 8" which matches this cooker ideally. - The timer function works great! No more burnt batches from forgetting to watch it. For those wondering what is the maximum time . . The timer has a maximum duration of 170 minutes. If you don't set the timer, it will automatically turn off after 120 minutes. While some may find this auto-shutoff annoying, I think it is great because even if you forget to turn on the timer you won't overcook your grain bags (or food). - You can adjust the cooking level after you set the timer, which is great if you want to adjust up or down. I noticed reviews on other cooktops that didn't allow for adjusting the temp or level after setting the timer. Fortunately this one does. After experimenting a bit . . . I heat it up on Level 10 until the water is boiling; then I put the pressure cooker lid on; then I set the power level to 5.5 and set the timer, including an extra 15 minutes as it takes about 15 minutes for the pressure to build up to 15psi (depending on ambient temperature and elevation). You could also just wait until it reaches 15psi and then set the timer, but I just like to get it set and forget about it. The level 5.5 seems to work perfectly to keep the pressure at 15 PSI and the valve wobbling just right, and yet I have also tried lowering it to 4.5 after it is already wobbling, and it seems to be fine and still maintains 15psi . Of course ambient temperature and elevation could change the timing; I have been using this outdoors at 80F and at sea level. I wouldn't say this heats up to 15 PSI quickly, but 1800 watts is about the most powerful you are going to get in this type of cooker. - Note that you MUST have a pressure cooker that specifically states it works with an induction cooker, because most are 100% aluminum and aluminum does not work with an induction cooker unless it has a steel bottom. - The power cord is a generous 5 feet long, making it fairly easy to connect without an extension cord. - I like that the power levels are in half-steps, not just whole numbers. For those who want to know, the unit starts at 200 watts at the level 1 power setting, then increases 100 watts for every .5 of temperature increase all way up to 10. So you actually get double the expected "10" levels to fine tune your cooking. - One word of caution about starting off at Level 10 . . . Remember that induction heats the metal, and the hot metal cooks what is inside the pressure cooker. I have melted a few grain bags and even cracked a couple ball jars by leaving it on Level 10 too long - This heats up the metal HOT, so I've learned to either start on level 7 or maybe start on level 10 for just 10 minutes and then lower it. This is not a problem with the cooker of course, this is just a tip for my mycology friends. Overall, the cooktop works great. It suits my needs, and so far I have had no issues or anything I could complain about. Helpful?

Compare All You Want, This One Has the Features and Price
Was looking for an induction hot plate to use on my balcony. I live in high rise building doesn't allow barbecues on the balconies, but the rules don't say anything about cooking outside; just no open flames. A way around this is to use an induction hot plate that can get really high temps and a hardy cast iron skillet. As you may see in reviews of other products, some hotplates turn themselves off due to excessive heat. We are searing on high heat steaks. Have not had issue with the unit turning off. We have a high end Samsung induction cooktop and know what to expect from induction. This hotplate performs. Plus, it's a breeze to clean. Top is totally flat surface so some cleaner/degreaser and a few wips and this guy is ready to go back into the box. Speaking of the box, I wish there was a handle on the end of the unit. We put this back in the box after each use. We do not leave outside. It would be so much easier to take out of the box. One hint that I learned about induction cooktops when using cast iron, place a piece of parchment paper under the cast iron. That saves your cooktop from scratching. Also, if you want to shake your pan around, any type of pan, use the parchment paper. My first induction range, I didn't know this tip and our cooktop really got scratched. The paper will turn brown but won't burn. Remember, the cook top is not creating heat; the pan is. A tip when using this hot plate especially if using cast iron. Remove the cooking utensil from the hot plate after cooking. The hot plate has cooling fans that run until the unit reaches a temp that can be touched. Leaving a cooking pan, especially cast iron, requires that the fans run for a long period of time. Or if you unplug the device before it has fully cooled you are causing potential damage to the unit. Overall, this is a very good product, at very reasonable price. It's attractive, well made, quality material, and works as expected.

Works very well, sleek and convenient
This Duxtop Portable Induction Cooktop is the perfect cooktop for a suite for a student to use for cooking. In addition to a microwave, this is perfect for a student in the studio suite we provide for students. It heats up quickly, is easy to operate, is safe to use and the student likes to use it. Plus it wipes clean and is convenient to store as it is light and thin. Just be sure to plug it in on its own. I like that it beeps when you when you plug it in so you know that it works - ie) that the socket works!

Potente y funcional

Perfect for a reno or travel
Cooked for my family of 6 when I was doing my kitchen renovation. My only regret is that I didn't buy 2 so that I could cook more than one thing at a time. Used it solely (several times a day) for 3 months. Works better with cast iron heavy pots as it heats up faster and holds its heat longer. I have cooked on gas my whole life (and still do) and I was very impressed with how quick this heat up my pans. The product is small, versatile and portable. It had various temp settings for what I was cooking. The timer was a great feature as I could walk away and it would shut off on it's own. I took care of the glass surface and have no scratches. I have stored it back in the box for when I will travel again.

It looks good but it has a noisy fan
This is my first induction cooktop, so I have no prior experience to compare it to for my review. It works fine and looks beautiful. I have two issues with this induction cooktop, which might not be specific to this model. The first one is the fan noise, and the second one is the pan noise. The noise from the fan can be annoying, especially since I use it for hot pot and Korean BBQ, which requires sitting very close to it. The pan noise is not bothersome, but it is there and sounds as though the pan is cracking or ringing. I hope I get used to it pretty soon.

Just purchase it it’s fantastic
Great product but they don’t tell you you can only use stainless steel or glass on top of these glass counter stove top. Nobody told any of my family members their stove top are glass and they’re completely wrecked and ruined. It look horrible. Before I purchase my stove, I googled how to take care of it and what to use. Use the other one for my kids cause there’s no way they’re going to cook anything on my stove. They can use the oven but not my stove top. This item is very nice it heats to the size of the pots and pans I love it.
