Instead of fussing about your kids leaving the lights on, install one of these guys.
Overall, I liked the sensor switches, easy to install, worked great. I replaced the manual light switch at the top of our stairs before someone accidently mis-stepped in the dark and got hurt. Only one minor issue, when in vacancy mode, when you manually turn on the light and trigger it, you can't turn it off manually, you have to let it time out to whatever you set it to, but I only used that mode for 1 of the 4 units I purchased, occupancy mode worked perfectly, and the one unit in vacancy mode wasn't that much of an issue in the area where it was installed.

Work in single and 3 way applications with LED bulbs.
I tried switches that didn't require the neutral. They didn't work great with LED bulbs (flicker). These worked great. I have installed more than 10 switches in both single and 3-way fixtures with LED bulbs. I recommend.

Will work, don't follow wiring instructions
It could be me, the wiring instructions did not work that came in the box. In order to get it to work, power on, and detect motion, watch this video,"Two Occupancy Sensor 3 way, by Kevin Pon". The video is also a bit confusing but it works. Took me a few watches with trial and errors but it will work when you figure out which switch is the power source for both of them. The only issue I have with the sensors with this set up is, and yes I have 2 sensors on both ends of stairs, when 1 sensor comes on, it becomes the primary switcb. Meaning, when the top of stairs motion and lights come on, the Downstairs switch will not turn off with a manual push to turn them off. Once the light cycles off after time runs out, the bottom light is now primary and the motion sensor works and the manual switch will work. However, they are motion sensors and I have timed for 15 seconds. They don't need to touch to be turned off. Again, could be the wiring but they work kwith this set up. Got 4 for basically $10 a piece, great price. Looks good and nice size.

Two 3 ways for same load/light. How to fix
The instructions that come with the switch will not work if you are wiring two of these for your lights, like either end of stairs. The main problem is that one of your 3ways is an auxiliary and auxiliary other is a master. What that means is the auxiliary switch doesn't always have power/current. Unfortunately, these switches require power at all times for the sensor to work (and is why the gave to be connected to a neutral/common). If you follow the instructions, IT WON'T WORK. I found the work around in a video posted on youtube by Kevin Pon called "TWO Occupancy 3-WAY Switch HACK BYPASS THAT WORKS!" After following his guidance, my two 3-way switches are working. One weird thing I noted. If your switches loose power...power failure or breaker off, you have to manually turn them on and off to initiate them.

They work and great for keeping a germ free house.
These motion sensor light switches are AWESOME!! It was very easy to install and they detect and turn right on. It's nice if you have kids that leave lights on and not have dirt hands on your lights.

Worst instructions ever
PRODUCT RETURNED. The instruction included in the box is garbage. It is the worst wiring instruction (or any instructions) I have ever seen. No customer service phone or email to contact for tech support. I wasted 2 hours of my time trying to get it to work. Maybe I am just not that good in reading, so I included the instructions for you to decide. I won't do business with this company EVER.
