Down-and-out ex-baseball player, Charlie Jones, needs to meet his community service hours as a coach, but no team wants him. It takes the Yankles, an obscure orthodox yeshiva baseball team desperate for a coach, to give Charlie his second chance. A humorous match made in heaven, both Charlie and the team rise to unexpected triumphs resulting in entrance to the college world series. Review: the yankles - Had been awaiting the release of this movie ever since I heard about it. Thouroughly enjoyed the story. While the cast was mostly unknown to me I found them to be quite good. Will watch it over again with my family and whenever I want a good laugh. You do not have to be a baseball fan to enjoy this movie about a yeshiva baseball team which finds its way into a its athletic association's "world series." Would like to have gotten to know more about the team's subsequent history. Review: funny funny movie - hubby and I loved the humor AND good ethical lessons learned. since I do not like swearing at all, especially using God's Name in vain, I cringed when His Name was used as a swear word. Other then that, it was a great movie! I dare film makers to make movies where there is no sexual inuendos, cursing, violence. It can be done. these three situations don't make a movie good.

Sweet film. Lotsa chutzpah and heart!
This is one of those quirky little fun films that you walk away from feeling lighter, with a smile on your face. Not chicken soup for the soul, more like blintzes for the soul. Michael Buster is quite charming as Elliot! Would love to see him land more film roles.

Defective disc
This is not a review of the movie. If youโre looking at buying this, youโre probably already familiar with its premise. The movie seems a low-budget indie production thatโs a bit of a cross between โCool Runningsโ and โRockyโ, and while itโs plagued with a heavy-handed zeal, characters whose facial expressions donโt match the scene, and a few other shortcomings, itโs still cute and enjoyable. My review (and complaint) is the Blu-Ray disc itself: it will not play on two of my three Sony Blu-Ray players. (No problem with other discs.) Proper cleaning of the disc made no difference. It is obviously defective in some way.

Fun Show
While the beginning was a little slow, the film built up and turned in a great performance. Funny, poignant and inspiring. Themes of forgiveness, redemption, family, commitment to God, and unity figure in the story. I recommend it!

silly, predictable movie, but....
I enjoyed it anyway. The Jewish scenes (okay, the whole movie is Jewish scenes) seem to have been written by someone who knew something about Jews and Judaism, but not very much. It's the kind of movie that a group of kids might have made, with no depth to the characters, a plot you can predict from miles away, and every stereotype about Orthodox Jews thrown in, but there was enough fun in it to make it worth watching, but only if you are a baseball fan and a practicing Jew.

What a movie
This is not a baseball movie, this is not a Jewish movie ... this is a movie about the underdog, heart, and an ending with a twist. No wonder it has won so many festival awards. See it, you'll love it.
