Can anybody tell me how long this cable is in inches ?

The actual cable portion is 4.75 inches. The USB connector housing on one end is 1.5 inches. The Surface connector housing on the other end is 1.75 inches.

Why not just plug the usb c cable into the usb c charging port?

If your Surface has a USB C port you can but depending on the charger and cable it can be very slow, Microsoft does not seem to recommend it. This cable works great with the right charger.

Is this compatable with Surface Go 3?

What's the maximum number of watts that this cable will deliver? can it deliver 100 w from a 100 w charger, or will it only deliver a maximum of 45 w?

The surface have two charging powers 15v2.58A and 15v4a, the maximum power of my cable is 15v2.58A. Most usb-c chargers do not have the power of 15v4a. Basically, the nominal value of 60w is 20V3A. The surface requires 15V, so 15V4A is actually not available in USB-C charger. In fact, 15v2.58a is enough, the surface cannot work at full load for a long time, and the daily office power is only about 20-30W.
