Works great, and I recommend using a chain lead. I liked that it had connection hooks on each end of the chain.

Good chain for the money better than I thought

I had never used an anchor chain on my river anchors… just a plain rope. It makes a huge difference in the performance of the anchor. I have a small 18 ft Alumacraft boat which I use on the Mississippi River. Currents make holding position above wing dams a challenge. They never held until I added the chain. Same anchor and same boat…night and day difference The generous zinc galvanized coating on the chain will keep it from rusting.

Over a year ago, I joined a boat club knowing absolutely nothing about boats. I figured it would be a good past time since my family moved out to area with a large lake and I didn't want to invest a huge amount into something I knew nothing about. Over my many boating experiences since then, I've learned a lot about boating. I also learned about what I like and didn't like. Of those dislikes, I've learned that I *HATE* mushroom anchors. I suppose it's because they are cheap is the reason the boat club uses them for all their boats. I've read about them too... they do have a purpose but given the lake where I spend my time, they do absolutely nothing to keep the boat from drifting away. So with that said, I read a bit about anchors from Boating magazine and how to construct your own anchor rode. Following those instructions, I created my own anchor rode which I tote around every time I go boating. This chain is a big part of construction your own anchor rode. The purpose, according to Boating magazine is: "Regardless of boat style, all anchoring systems should have a boat length of stainless-steel or galvanized chain separating the rope and the anchor. The chain prevents chafing and abrasion. Its weight also keeps the anchor’s shank horizontal, allowing the flukes to better bite the bottom." Since then, my boat has never once drifted. Although this is just one component of the anchor rode, I assume because I made it correctly is the reason this works. The chain is heavy duty and fits the needs/specifications of the boat I use primarily (pontoon). Would recommend.

I'm new to sailing, but at just about 4 feet long, with two shackles included, this handy package seems like just the ticket for our little 26 foot Macgregor 26X "trailer-sailer" with its 7 pound Fortress FX-11 anchor for the Potomac and Chesapeake, both of which have average depths of 21 feet. For their FX-11 Fortress recommends 6 feet of chain per 25 feet of depth with a minimum 5:1 scope along with 3/8 inch nylon rope. So, given that we are likely to be using anchorages of 20 feet depth or far less, this little chain should do the trick along with the surprisingly fine-looking "Wellington Marine Anchor Line 3/8 in. x 100 ft. White Nylon Boating rope thimble" I got over at eBay from the seller "merz67" for less than $12 bucks with $10 shipping. So all in all, for just about $35 total, we now have what I believe is a perfectly adequate anchor rode for our present needs--and for only about a quarter of what I had been expecting to have to lay out.

It is heavier than I expected, almost as heavy as my fluke anchor. Pretty sure I will stay anchored now.

I've now had this for 3 seasons, it's a great addition to any anchor and easy to attach. I have never added chain in 30 years of boating, and decided to try it as I got a new rope to add to my 30 year old anchor........ it is still as good as new, and helps the anchor dig in and stay secure when there are waves and the vessel drifts less than anchors without a chain....

Arrived as described and on time. This chunk of lead chain will allow my mushroom anchor to function properly (lay on it's side on a muddy lake bottom) and hold our 12' boat. Shackles at either end are easily attached to anchor and rope, and wrench tightened. Good to go!
