This is just as strong as the original Deathwish coffee with a bit of a vanilla flavor. My chef friend replaced the coffee at work with this an made every employee’s day much better. Caution to the people that don’t drink lots of caffeine: DeathWish Coffee is strong , stronger than you standard coffee, stronger than espresso and will keep you the **** awake, might raise your heart rate a bit an may even make you feel a bit overwhelmed, if your new to coffee i suggest a lower caffeine coffee. As for saving you money , 1 ( 12oz cup ) of DeathWish is 1,875 mgs of caffeine an will keep you awake for a long period of time, so you won’t need to drink more, or another energy drink. I had no business making this coffee when it arrived at 7pm, but did I? Yes. And did i post a review the same day i received it? Yes. Yes, i did because it's THAT good. This coffee is almost other worldly. I thought the reviews on here were exaggerating but omg they are not. Usually, i go for the Peets Coffee Major Dickason's Blend (been purchasing for years) but i figured why not try something new. Nothing ever topped Peets coffee until this. The amount of caffeine is great but that also means you should not have multiple cups of this due to the high caffeine content. This has little to nonexistent acidity for me which is a huge bonus. Its smooth and dark without being bitter. It definitely is on the pricier side but i think it's worth it. To each their own but i would at least recommend that you give it a go, if you have not tried this before, please give it at least a shot and see how you like it. I feel like the freshness was good but if that's something you're super concerned about then you can always order this directly from their website. To me, this is the best cup of hot coffee i have ever had.

I love a good dark roast coffee, and like many people I need the occasional caffeinated slap in the face, so after reading the mostly positive reviews of this coffee I figured I'd give it a shot. Is it good? Yes, especially if you like dark coffee. Dark but not bitter, slightly sweet but in a "90% cacao" kind of way, and not excessively fruity. It has a strong backbone, but I didn't find its flavor profile exceedingly complex. That can be good or bad, depending on what you enjoy. Did it take me on a flavor journey, transporting me through different realms of gustatory experiences as it traveled over my tongue exciting a wide range of taste buds? No, it didn't do any of that. It was, however, good coffee; not one-dimensional, but not complicated either. In terms of caffeine content, I brewed my first cup with a mix of excitement and trepidation. Would the coffee machine be possessed by the spirit of Odin and pour forth a stream of Nordic nectar? Would my freshly shaven face suddenly sprout a deep-red beard that begged me to braid it? Would I feel empowered to take on my daily tasks with the fury of Thor's hammer? No, none of that happened either. It did wake me up a bit, but I didn't ride around my kitchen on a caffeinated tidal wave. Bottom line: This is a good dark coffee with flavor that is robust but not multi-faceted and a caffeine content that is at least what you would expect from a strong cup of coffee. My only quibble is that it is fairly high priced. Whether it is worth its price is up to you; for me, in this price range I like something with a little more complexity. I like this Valhalla and will probably return to it, but for now I will stick with my personal favorite dark coffee for my regular morning brew.

My favorite coffee by far, other than Highlander grog. Easy to grind and just full of coffee flavor that’s not super overpowering.

What can I say about this coffee that hasn't already been said? My husband works at Amazon and spent some time stowing items to later be picked up for orders being shipped and he kept stowing this coffee but couldn't remember what it was called. So we're at a restaurant and I'm on my phone trying to figure out what this coffee could be, and it's three days before Christmas '13, and we find it. At this time I have Prime and instantly order it and sent it to my folks so that we can all try this new coffee. Christmas Eve my parents' UPS guy speeds down the hill to drop off the last present for Christmas and I hand it to my mum and tell her to open it because she's going to want this for Christmas morning, which she resists at first until she smells it. This coffee is so strong you can smell it from inside the box it comes in and she wanted it pretty badly when she finally opened it. We all managed to restrain ourselves (which was hard because we're coffee drinkers, save my dad) and gleefully went to bed later that evening, too excited to get any decent sleep. Five thirty rolls by and I hop out of bed, nudging my hubs who hisses at me, and head to the kitchen to start our Christmas celebration. Our roommate is out in the living room drooling on the couch as I start grinding those beans for our traditional pot of Christmas joe. As it's brewing the whole house fills with this intense aroma that you just want to roll yourself in because it smelled so good. The hour for everyone to taste it arrives and the room is so quiet you can hear the tree lights flicker on and off when suddenly the first "ahh" is said. Then we all chimed in. It's got such a robust flavour, and so many to choose from. For me it's like a rich chocolate drink with a hint of something caramelly and salty but also incredibly sweet, for my hubs he just tastes the dark roast and chocolate, my mum can't even describe the flavours she tastes in it. But I order at least one of these every year, before Christmas, so that we all can enjoy really excellent cup of coffee. (I imagine this would be the coffee that Odin drinks when he needs to wake up, this stuff packs a serious punch.) My only recommendation would be to by the whole beans and not the ground so you get the truest flavour possible from your coffee.

Freakin' loved it. The only other Death Wish Coffee I've had was the Dark Roast, which is my favorite whole bean coffee for working the night shift. I ordered this Valhalla Java Odinforce blend after it went on sale. This might be my second favorite coffee. Very smooth and wonderful taste with enough caffeine to get me through a night shift alert. Death Wish Coffee must employ some heavenly angels brought to us from some higher power-coffee God.
