Lists soil as among things you can test. how do i do this? soak soil in water, then use water? how long?

Yes. Collect samples from the areas you wish to test. Mix the samples and fill a mason jar half full. Cover with distilled water (you don’t want the water to affect the result), shake vigorously and set aside. This lets the layers to settle and you can see the composition of your soil. Dip a test strip in the liquid to measure the PH of your soil. This will give you an idea of what kind of amendments you may wish to add to your soil.
