Great Small Rod
I have wanted a small rod set up for small stream fishing in the mountains and this rod fits the bill well. It is most certainly a medium fast action with good snap making roll casting easy and will toss a line a reasonable distance. Don't expect big stream distance throwing with the rod. Use it for what it's made for and you too will be happy. Its fit and fish is excellent and I expect it to last a long time. For the price point.... HIGHLY Recommended.

Great little rod
Been using this for fishing smaller streams and really love it. I have no issue casting with it and it feels sturdy yet lightweight

First Impressions are good
I bought this rod through amazon warehouse deals for a third the listed price. It is a two piece, 8'6" graphite 6/7wt flyrod. The rod looks great and casts very well. I already have a 5wt fiberglass rod and a 8wt fiberglass rod so I really wanted to get a graphite rod for a good price in a different weight that I did not have. I had previously owned an 8wt graphite rod but the rod was over 30 years old and broke during a fishing session. My first impressions is that this rod even though is a two piece, is very sensitive. I could feel the fish through the rod even if they gently took the fly and when fighting the fish I always knew I was hooked up. This rod also casts extremely well. It loads then propels the line through the guides so smoothly you need less effort to cast. With my fiberglass rods you really have to bend the rod with the flyline forcefully to get a similar result. My 5wt is the same size and number of pieces as this Okuma rod and the Okuma rod is superior in every way. I really enjoyed my first few hours of fishing with this rod. Great sensitivity, great casting and at a great price. I will update with more information soon after I get a few more hours of fishing with this rod but initial results are good. ***UPDATE*** 10/27/2014 I fished a couple of more times with this rod and I have to say I like it a lot. The one complaint I have is that the reel I am using with this rod does not stay in the reel seat because the tightening ring on the rod does not stay tight. I have a 100 dollar rod that has two tightening rings for the reel and that seems to be the best but I have not had this problem with my other rods that have only one ring. I never want to over tighten but I may have to. The reel has never fallen out but after fishing for about 15 minutes the reel kinda rattles in the reel seat so that I have to tighten the ring again. This is just my experience with the rod on a few occasions that I have taken it out. Otherwise this is a great rod. Casting is effortless but I am using an 8wt line on this rod just because I had either 8wt or 5wt to try it out and the 8wt seems great. I will have to update again when I try a 5wt line with this rod.

love this fly rod!
absolutely love the crisium! got the 6/7 in 8'6'' and the 7/8 in 9' as far as i'm concerned okuma has a winner. the 7/8 is super stiff which i like. the 6/7 is slightly more flexible but not at all mushy. it loads very well and had no problems casting my entire line and still felt as though it had power left over. only tried a dry fly briefly and didn't have any trouble putting a delicate presentation down, just adjusted my cast accordingly. the 7/8 i haven't had a chance to use seriously yet but the few casts i have made were just as desirable as the 6/7. i even gave it a work out with a 9 weight and a 10 weight line for trials sake and it launched those quite well. even caught a bronzey on a test cast and the big rod had no problems with it. the only critique would be for okuma to put a full wells handle on the 7/8... my own preference for the heavy weight rods. for my own fishing style and fish i chase the rods are going to become workhorses! the price is incredible aswell which was originally my concern when i purchased them. without naming names or prices... the crisium is on par with my high dollar rods for a fraction of the cost.

Best Deal for the Money, Hands Down
If you are looking for a forged billet fly reel -- well, you're probably not looking on Amazon. If you're looking for a high-quality, great-looking fly reel with an excellent drag system on the cheap, look no further than the SLV. I have a size 4/5 and a size 7/8 for steelhead. I can say that the 4/5 does an excellent job with scrappy smallmouth bass. The reel is cast aluminum, made in Taiwan. But the quality is there, no doubt. The drag had no problem with 15" bass; very smooth. As far as the steelhead go, I'll let you know this weekend. . . . I have purchased several "low-end" reels, including the Cabelas three-fork and the Reddington Crosswater. Both reels are more expensive than the SLV and neither comes close to the quality of materials or smoothness of the drag system. Honestly, unless you're fishing for tarpon or long-casting to bonefish, I don't know why anyone would pay 5 to 10 times as much for a similar-quality reel!

Excellent casting, great value.
I started fly fishing after a 25 year absence and bought this rod on Amazon based on the user reviews. I have an 8'6" inch fiberglass Fenwick which I purchased in 1980. It is too valuable as a collectors item to use fishing. I purchased the 8'6" Okuma Crisium 4/5 wt. I use a 4wt-wf Supra line, 2x Flourocarbon leader and 3x or 4x tippet. I use it for dry flies. Awesome! Works great. I liked it so much I purchased the 9' 5/6 wt.Crisium fly rod. It is much stiffer than the 8'6". I use it with a 6wt-wf line for fishing nymphs and streamers. I liked both these rods so much I bought another of each as a spare. I have looked at many a high dollar rod up here in Montana where I live half the year. I can not see or feel much difference between them and the Okuma Crisium. I have not fished with any of the high dollar rods that are available from the shops here in Montana, I am sure they are excellent fly rods. I doubt they are so much better than the Crisium as to justify spending 5 to 10 times more.

Quality review *updated
4/09/14 Speaking solely on craftsmanship (have not cast it yet, report back in 2 days) this is a top quality rod. Having owned and used everything from a $30 starter kit to a loomis to bamboo to building my own this is without a doubt at the top tier. Blank is what was the top of the heap just a few years back. The cork is AAA and sanded to a perfect wells grip. The real seat is beautiful rose wood and anodized aluminum with an unlocking seat. The guides are reasonable quality, nothing to write home about but are all straight with perfect thread wraps (no spaces). Action is a crisp medium fast, which I like for everyday trout large stream/small river. Will report back in a couple days, once I've put it to use. 4/14/14 update Casts like a dream! A very well balanced rod, crisp enough to pitch into a steady wind yet supple enough to lay it down gently. Accuracy was better than I thought it would be.

Good value for the price. Okuma for the win.
This is my second okuma rod, my first is an ultra light 9'6" side drift. I have to to say I'm really liking this brand. This fly rod was perfect for blue gill fishing on the lake. It was easier to use then my old cabelas prestige rod, I was very upset that it broke a day after warranty. This okuma rod lasted its first 8 hour fishing trip amazingly. It is smaller and didn't kill my shoulder by the end of the night, casted easily and accurately. Over all I'm very happy with this fly rod, and I don't feel as bad if it ever brakes in the future. I only spent a fourth of the price on this compared to the prestige, so my wallet won't cry if it breaks.

Broke the first day on the river!
Very nice design. Actually I had high hopes on this rod. Feels great to keep it in your hand and handles the line very well. I was using a 4lb test leader and while trying to release a snag, it broke in half! I was very shocked! I wasn't even fighting a fish or something. I would not buy this again.
