Perfect for replacing a chandellier with a ceiling fan.
Last year I took down a chandelier and replaced it with a ceiling fan. I should have replaced the mounting bracket but it was hard to deal with it through the 4" opening so I just used the existing box. I could never get the fan to mount flush with the ceiling and it always wobbled when on high speed. "There must be some better way to make this work," I thought. Finally I discovered the Saf-T-Brace, ordered it with Amazon Prime, received it a couple of days later and was ready to redo my previous patch job. The hard part was getting the old mounting bracket out of the way. It used thin enough metal that I was able to nibble through it with side cutters and then bend it out of the way, after removing the junction box.. Somewhat difficult working through that little hole, but not terrible. Then came the easy part: I extended the Saf-T-Brace to about 22", stuck it through the hole, positioned it over the opening and twisted the bar to extend it until it was tightly jammed into the ceiling joists. It was really solid! Though I didn't try it, I'm sure I could have done a one handed chin-up from it without a problem, were I strong enough. Next I slipped the holding bracket over the bar then opened one of the cable feed-throughs in the supplied new box, inserted the plastic cable clamp and slipped my wires through. The handy little magnet piece made it easy to get the included box fastened on -- and I was good to go. Back up the ladder to rehang the fan and now it is tight against the ceiling without a trace of movement when running. The Saf-T-Brace is a well made sturdy product, that installed easily, worked as specified and I'm very pleased with it.

Great in every way. Exactly what we needed.
We had a room with a non functional light switch and an oddly covered opening where a ceiling light apparently once was. On removal we found no wiring and no box; just a completely empty space between two floor joists. A regular box would have required adding some framing (or a weak pop in style) but this worked perfectly in every way and is just strong. I just placed it between the joists with the tabs against the sheet rock, and screwed it into position (the joists were 16" apart). Installed the provided box/clip, ran the new wires (it included screws + a ground screw), and installed the light - easy. Everything lined up perfectly and worked great. Overkill for a light and more $$ but made it so easy to install it was worth it. If I wanted I could always install a ceiling fan in the future and I'm really happy with the light for now. Only neg is that it can rotate (as you are not supposed to screw in hard(wrench) - or enough to stop rotation). Once you get a fixture on it rotation is not much of an issue though.

Good fit easy install
Very good, strong and easy to install even if ceiling has blown in insulation like mine. Like all parts included ready to hang fan or fixture.

Work well and so far is performing
This was easy to install and held up well the magnet to come off so you have to be careful when installing it. The main problem with this is the plastic tabs if you drop it or hit it too hard, the tabs will break and so it makes it more complicated to install.

Easy and Works Great
Worked great saving a trip to the attic and wading through the blown insulation.

Best product ever
I bought one of these based off of reviews and I concur these things are fantastic. You just simply put it in between the studs. You screw it in the One Direction to create the tension. It embed itself in the wood and boom you then have a fan support that is very, very strong. I will continue to buy this product every time I decide to put in a new fan in any room.

Great Solution
This is an excellent solution to adding a fan somewhere in your house. One note is that to really crank it down, you may need to use a crescent wrench to turn it, which may require you to be in the attic space. I did this because I have adequate room in my attic to do so. But it's a great product and an easy way to get a fan in the ceiling.

Time saver
First time I've used this bracket, so after installing it I still went up in the attic to see how it went. Providing that you place it straight between the joists, you're in business. If not, you risk putting it on an angle between two joists compromising regidity of the brace. Otherwise, it's a massive time saver and in a way it serves as a junction box by isolating your wires from insulation (would be better if it was made of non conductive material, probably cheaper to manufacture too). My ceilings are level so I didn't have to deal with balancing the fan blades. However, if you do get a fan wobble, make sure that the brace is sitting flat on the plasterboard on both ends. If it is but you still get fan wobble your celing is not level. Balancing kit will help you sort it.

Does the job
The Westinghouse was sufficient for the light weight fan I installed. I don't have read access to the ceiling cavity so this type of brace was a good option. Did the job that it was advertised to do, easy to install so reasonable happy with the purchase.
