Killer YAMAHA quality for the money
Honey Amber finish on these shells Is absolutely gorgeous. The thickness of the shells allows them to resonate and have pretty good punch but leave room for sensitivity. I have pieced together this kit because I could not find all of the particular shell sizes in one shot. I got a really killer deal on this bass drum and I have always wanted an 18 inch drum. I am still running the stock heads on all of these shells and they sound really great. It all started with the 10 lug snare drum. I was so impressed with the drum that when I discovered the rest of the kit was out there, I went for it. YAMAHA has always been top quality no matter what they make. It is definitely reflected in this drum set. You are getting the value of a much higher end drum set in the way that they produce the shells for the money. Iโm going to order the 16 inch floor Tom when it comes back in stock. This would be a really great kit for someone that is on the budget, or a second kit, or something smaller for gigging. I have not recorded with it yet so I donโt know what that sound like maybe I will change my review once I do so

Excellent kick drum
I got the 20โ diameter, to beef up the kick on my bop set. The 18โ pdp bass the kit came with is fine for all intensive purposes, but man, you just canโt beat Yamaha drums, especially at this price. Looks great, sounds great and does exactly what I need it to do.

3 Broken, junk quality lugs on snare!!!
Junk lugs!! 3 lugs snapped off while playing a gig and rattled inside!!! I have never had a lug fail in my 50+ years of drumming. This is my first Yamaha kit. To add insult to injury, Yamaha charges about the same for replacement lugs as the new snare costs!! Too bad because it is a decent sounding kit. This junk just adds to the waste on this planet and should be outlawed. The corporate scam continues

Great value for the price.
Excellent quality drums you can buy one at a time to build exactly the kit you want. OR, buy one of their sets and save even more. Love the sound of these Birch shell drums.

perfect size with big sound
This is a beautiful bass drum, I think for the money it is a good deal. Considering how much you pay today for bargain brands, go ahead and get the Yamaha and you wont be sorry.

Low price and high quality...๐๐ต
Twenty inch bass in Honey Amber. I swapped out the batter for an Evans EMAD with a Remo Falam Slam impact pad. I used a Gibraltar drum lift to get the drum up off of the floor. I stayed with the stock resonant head, with no muffling inside the drum. Along with a hard felt beater on my pedal, I could not be any happier with how this combination sounds. Big AND articulate. Needless to say, I'm stoked..!

Nice deep, full musicality on the 24x15
This 24x15 drum is exactly the sound I hoped it would be. It sounds like it cost 2 or 3 times what it actually costs. I am not a professional musician, so your mileage may vary, but for drumming for my own personal enjoyment, it's amazing. You can tune it low and feel more of the bass, or you can tune it higher and hear more of it. And you can control the resonance by the relationship of the two heads tuned with or without each other. I like a lot of resonance, and it does not disappoint. I don't currently feel a need to change the heads. This thing slaps right out of the box. ... Edit on 05/26/24: I ended up getting a whole kit of these drums. I'm just a hobbyist, but they sound fantastic. I am very pleased.

Loud! A little deeper than I normally play, but nice tone
I normally play bass drums 14 inches deep or less. I took a chance on this since I had toms and a snare drum that matched and am still getting accustomed to the added depth. One would think that an extra inch would not pose problems, but I play heel down and depend on rebound. I also tend to feather my bass drum notes and the extra inch has thrown me off a bit. Bit, no problem because I go by the adage that "it's a poor crafts person who blames his or her tools." The only change I made is swapping the heads out for a Remo Coated Ambassador for the reso head and a Remo PS3 coated pinstripe for the batter. The beater used in the video is a Vater Vintage Bomber with fluffy beater. As you (should) hear, the bass drum has a lot of attack even with the fluffy beater and my normally quiet playing style. I've come to appreciate the sound and tone, but am still in the process of controlling the dynamics. That will some in time. The construction is impeccable. I am impressed because I also own some custom kits as well as a DW kit and this budget-priced model is every bit as good as those. It does NOT come with a tom mounting system, so add that to your additional expenses if you don't already have one. Other than that, and new heads (which I strongly recommend) this drum is ready to tune up and go, It's tone greatly exceeded my expectations, and it has a very wide tuning range from JAW (Just Above Wrinkle) to high, bop tuning a la Tony Williams, Elvin Jones, Art Blakey, etc.
