Excellent sturdy transfer pole with grab bar, even works on carpet without damaging ceiling.
Our elderly aunt surely needed these, wish we would have gotten them earlier while she still had more strength... Put one next to the bed, near her favorite chair and the toilet ... work well for as long as she can. We have 8' foot tall ceilings, which is the minimum height for these poles, only have to raise and tighten them a couple inches before secure contact is made. Swiveling grab bars is handy, literally. Pretty easy to move around as needed, I tightened them in place just eyeballing being level and straight. Hand tightened using wrench tool until firm, grabbed pole and shook heavily to make sure secure, retighten a day later to allow for settling on carpet. No need to even make sure the top is underneath beams of the ceiling, plenty secure without damage. Pole isn't going anywhere. PROS: - Much better than a straight poles with no handles sticking out to grab onto. - Fits common 8' foot height ceiling minimum. - Easy assemble, Easy to tighten using included wrench. Doesn't need to be so tight you wreck your ceiling, is very secure with medium tension. - Works on carpet and rugs, no problem, just re-tighten after a few hours of settling. - No need to align with ceiling beams, width distributes weight securely. - Sturdy, heavy and well built, can easily handle elderly weight (120 lbs - 200 lbs) and more with no slipping of pole once adjusted tightly and firm. - Also good for hanging things off the grab bar next to bed. - Much better price new than medical supply store. CONS: - None really, would be nice if the grab bar could adjust up and down but it's not really necessary is it's set at a pretty good heigh for most situations and helping from sit to stand.

Outstanding product!
Outstanding product. I liked it so much we purchased a second one. Durable, functional, practical, and easy to install. With one pole I have used screws into the floor to help stabilize it on the carpet. Although it may not have been necessary to do so, I wanted to be extra safe. It is located in the bedroom. The other pole is standing on a tile floor in the bathroom and it is not screwed into anything, just mounted with the provided pressure mounting nut located in the center of the pole. I highly recommend this product! Update: Saturday, May 20th, 2017 Having had two of these poles for about a year now, they are still outstanding for almost anyone who is in a wheelchair and needs to transfer to a bed, toilet, couch, or the like. However, one of the poles had a problem when the small knob that you pull out to change the position of the pole handles stopped working. The knob is supposed to pull out, allowing the user to move the pole handles around easily, then when you let go of the knob, it locks the handles in place. When the knob broke and stopped locking, I was pretty upset. The pole is pretty much unusable without the knob locking. Anyway, after reading advice from another reviewer who had a similar problem, I found that it was easily fixed. Just screw the knob back in to get the pole handles to lock again. Note that you may have to turn the outer plastic knob part many times (to the right) and jiggle the grab bar part back and forth a bit before the knob works correctly again. But stick with it. This method should fix the problem. July 9th, 2021 update: A family member has used these poles to transfer from wheelchair to bed and toilet for years. Other than on rare occasion having to screw the plastic latch knob back in (takes about 30 seconds), no problems at all, and a real life and back saver! January 14th, 2025 update: My 93 year-old mother had a bad fall a few months ago. During her recovery, I bought her one of these poles to install beside the chair she sits in to watch TV. She really likes it!Other people in the senior apartment building in which she lives have come by to see her and commented on it. She is happy to tell them all how much it helps her out. She uses it to steady herself when she gets out of her chair. Did not install any screws for the pole at all. Just used the pressure mount nut included with the pole and it installed easily on her vinyl flooring and is rock solid.

Solid construction. Useful in many situations. Game changer for sure.
Terrific product! Not cheap but you definitely get what you pay for. I have put several in my mom‘s house in those tricky spots where she has to go from bed to walker or walker to toilet. Definitely gives me a little extra peace of mind.

Eight years of safety and independence for my 95-year-old mother.
I can’t say enough great things about this Stander Wonder Pole! I’ve learned that one of the greatest gifts you can give a senior is the ability to move without asking for help. To protect my mother’s independent spirit, I didn't just buy one, I ended up installing three of them to create a continuous path of safety in our home. I placed one right next to her bed, one by her favorite spot on the sofa, and a third in the bathroom. These poles became her "silent partners." Instead of waiting for me to help her stand, she could use the ergonomic, easy-to-adjust ladder-grip to climb to a standing position using a comfortable hand-over-hand motion. She didn’t know I was always nearby watching, whether I was in the room or watching her on my phone from another part of the house, ready to help "just in case." Sometimes I did have to step in, but I respected her independent spirit enough to let her try on her own first. Having these reliable poles gave her the confidence to keep trying the last 8 years of her life, and she lived to 95! It really is a Solo Caregiver's dream setup. As a son working alone, I loved the tension-mounted design. I could install these easily by using just the provided wrench (don’t lose it!) there was no drilling into the floor or searching for ceiling joists. Despite being "tool-free," they felt like a permanent part of the house. They didn't budge, giving her absolute confidence that her weight would be supported every time. The pivoting grab bar is a real game changer here, since it locks every 45 degrees, which meant I could angle it perfectly for her to transition from the sofa to her walker, or from the toilet to a standing position. It pivots out of the way when not in use and is easy to adjust. These poles fit flat ceilings from 7 to 10 feet. Always remember to check the tension once a month just to ensure the seasonal temperature changes haven't loosened the grip. It takes ten seconds but provides permanent peace of mind. My mom loved these poles because they gave her back her sense of safety and independence. They allowed her to "finish strong" with her dignity intact, moving through her home on her own terms. Hope this helps! Finish strong, with a peaceful heart. — Lon | CaregivingFM

Secure but Not Perfect – A Helpful Aid with Some Caveats
Secure but Not Perfect – A Helpful Aid with Some Caveats I set this up for an elderly family member who needed a little extra support getting up and down in the bathroom. The concept is great: it’s a tension-mounted pole with a rotating/locking curved grab bar that gives you a sturdy handhold right where you need it. Assembly was straightforward, and I didn’t need to drill into floors or ceilings, which is a big plus in a rental or if you don’t want to damage surfaces. Once in place, it feels solid and provides reliable leverage. That said, there are a few things to keep in mind. The tension system works, but it can shift slightly if it isn’t placed perfectly straight or if someone leans heavily at an angle. I found myself double-checking the tightness more than once to be sure it hadn’t budged. The curved grab bar is handy, but the rotation mechanism isn’t as smooth as I’d like and takes some effort to click into place. It also takes up a bit more space than a standard straight grab bar, so you need to be mindful of where you put it. Overall, it does its job and has already made transfers much safer, but I wouldn’t call it flawless. It’s best for people who need moderate assistance rather than those who will be putting their full weight on it regularly. Bottom line: A good safety aid that provides peace of mind and flexibility, though it requires careful placement and occasional readjustment to feel completely secure.

OPEN BOX ITEM
This is it! Wonderful product. I'm the caregiver and I can't say enough good things about this. It is robust. Solid. Steady. Assembly is simple(two pins and their retaining clips!) and well within the abilities of any healthy and literate individual. Maybe literacy isn't even required, as the assembly diagrams are clear and readily understood. It is very well designed, with the B-bar offering a range of gripping options for the user. It has greatly increased the ease of transfers from wheelchair to toilet and, by repositioning the angle of the handle, wheelchair to shower chair. The solidity of the product gives the user confidence that they are not at risk of a fall. I, being a cheap bast*rd on a limited budget, purchased an 'open box' used item at around half the cost of new one. All parts and papers were present. There was very mild rust stains(not the stated 'like new, packaging damaged' claim) from where the box had become damp at some point. Nothing that affects functionality and easily remedied with a scouring pad and a shot of appliance white spray paint. Still not enough praise. It's great!

A couple tips to make installation easier! Great product! Purchased two.
UPDATE and warning! We still LOVE this pole . . . but I have had to re-tighten the one by my husband's recliner. The reason is likely my error. My husband weighs about 185 pounds. He has a neurological issue that causes him balance problems. He uses a lot of his weight on the pole as he pulls himself to stand/pivot into his wheelchair, sits, etc. One day I noticed the pole looked like it was leaning! Sure enough, he had pulled it out of plum. I had to reinstall and tighten it completely to where I could not turn the bolt anymore. (I don't use the screws in the ceiling/floor and for me it is unnecessary IF you tighten it completely.) So, two lessons . . . keep the tightening tool AND make sure you tighten the bolt until it can't be tightened any further. Then . . . check the pole ever so often to make sure it is remaining tight between ceiling and floor. Great product that has changed our lives for the better!!! ORIGINAL REVIEW: I wanted to share a video and a couple of tips to make installation easier (or at least it was much easier for me). I purchased two. And had to install by myself. On the first install, I about cracked the tile in my kitchen as the pole fell over twice as I was trying to assemble and install it. Also, each attempted install resulted in a crooked pole! I finally figured out to get a level and duck taped it to the side of the pole (as shown in the video). I also duck taped the base to the pole. Once it was assembled, I was able to move it (in one piece) to the bathroom and use the wrench to tighten it until it was snug against the ceiling. One last tip! these poles are EXPENSIVE. I took a chance to purchase an open box. It said LIKE NEW, but damage to box. I was able to save $60 on two poles. It was no risk as I am a Prime member with free returns. Great product. Has helped my husband get in and out of his recliner in the living room much easier than using a walker and has also helped him in and out of the bathroom. I highly recommend!

This is the one you want
I love it! Super sturdy and secure. Great design. A few things to know: you do not need to bolt to the ceiling (the video of someone tugging on it is for real, the tension apparatus is super strong.) This will absolutely fit a lower ceiling just by removing a part. (We almost returned it before discovering this). If using for tub entry, you will need to have a shower curtain on each side of the grab bar. This is worth every penny for the safety, security and ease of installation without damaging ceiling or floor.

Bulky, heavy and difficult to return
Frustrating return experience with seller and Delhivery pick up partner. Money is blocked, item cannot be dropped for return and Delhivery courier doesn't come to take the product. Don't go for this purchase unless you are absolutely sure it will fit in your bathroom.

Superb aid for anyone requiring extra support to raise or lower themself.
I purchased this to help me getting in and out of my walk-in bath which has a belt seat. It is superb and gives me all the help I need, with the grab bar easy to position exactly where I want it. Assembly instructions were easy to understand and follow and I had it unpacked and set up within 30 minutes of arrival. I laid it flat on the floor in my living room to assemble and then moved it to my bathroom, where I tied it to the radiator to support it , whilst adjusting the height. I am nearly 80 and only 5 feet tall! Just a word of warning, it is very heavy, so it might be safer to have a young or strong person to set it up, to avoid any mishap. It is a very sturdy, well-made product that even came with a spanner to adjust the height. The ceiling support has excellent pads to protect your decor and is very stable in position. A further advantage is that i could be moved to a different location without any damage to floor or ceiling.

This pole is fantastic
I have several of these for my husband. He has a neurological condition and it is hard for him to get up and get around and he is really prone to falls. The pole is super easy to put together and install and I love the curvy handle on it so he can grab it at different heights to pull himself up, either from bed, in the bathroom or off the couch. I even have one in the garage he can hold on to as he goes out the door. They are very sturdy and won’t move and you don’t have to drill any holes in your ceiling or floors (but you could if you wanted to). They have helped him so much.
