OK, keep in mind grandma and grandpa aren't going to be packing a new refrigerator into the kitchen after hitting a sale at their local Home Depot! Yes they allow two people to move some pretty heavy items, but ponder for a moment how stove up you might get after hoisting 4-500 pounds worth of "Whatever" to "Wherever" in your home! If you're ambitious, of sound mind and in good physical shape, then by all means strap these babies on and go for the gold! We purchased these to move a refrigerator from our kitchen, down two steps and out to our van. This was a father/son move, and dad ain't no spring chicken so there was some moaning, groaning and a few stops before reaching the van. We got the job done, but it felt pretty much like I was backpacking half a refrigerator. There's a slight learning curve when actually lifting and walking, but you figure it out pretty quickly knowing you still have to maneuver around a few things and then get out the front door and down the steps. We had to stop and adjust the straps to get down the steps because the lift is somewhat higher and you're paying more attention to keeping your balance while navigating each step. Following a brief rest and final readjustment of the straps we made the short hike to the van and loaded it in. When I woke up and saw my wife and son leaning over me in my hospital bed sobbing uncontrollably, I knew something went horribly wrong...KIDDING!!! The straps work as advertised. You can lift some pretty heavy items and maneuverability is far more flexible than an appliance dolly. Navigating steps can get a little hairy, and I'm not sure I would trust myself to try and carry a refrigerator up and especially not down a full flight of stairs. The person on the lower portion of the lift could get seriously injured if the weight shifted uncontrollably or the upper lifter couldn't hold their portion of the load. Some basic common sense needs to be implemented when attempting to move any heavy object, whether its on a dolly or utilizing this strap system. The components are all made very well and they are quite wide so stabilizing the load with some help of your hands is intuitive. Manuverability is also very good, so getting in and out of tight places or around other objects is fairly easy. Overall the process is straight forward and you are literally up and moving in a matter of minutes. The only caution I would make is to not make a lift if you have any back, neck or leg issues because all three become the human frame that both lifts and supports whatever weight you're trying to move. This is a pretty slick way to move heavy objects and about the cost of your time and money to rent an appliance dolly for a day with the bonus of owning the kit for any future moving for yourself, friends or family members. I would recommend this item as a great alternative to using dollies for moving heavy items into, out of or around the home.

These Shoulder Dolly Moving Straps are incredibly effective, safe and worth the money. I have used the Forearm Forklift moving straps and they are not simple to use and take a lot of arm strength. I have a $300 Magliner Aluminum Hand Truck with the additional $80 stair climber kit and it is incredible if you only have one person but that requires considerable strength with heavy loads. With two people, the Shoulder Dolly Moving Straps are faster and less risk of injury to yourself and the furniture than most other methods. People are returning these straps, not because they didn't work; but, because they worked and now they feel they have no more need for them. Buy them. Keep them. You WILL use them again...promise.

I really wish I had pictures of my 4'10" wife and my 5'10" self carrying our 8' Ikea sleeper couch through our basement or our 180lb 7' long TV console (in a box) around our house and down our steep basement hatchway stairs but we were too busy trying not to destroy our house to get our kids to snap photos. The couch We needed to move the couch roughly 40' through a 36" door in our basement. Being 8' long it stretched the limit of the Shoulder Dolly for us (even though it said it could handle 9'+). The tricky part was that we had to tilt the couch on its side to made it through the door so the weight was not balanced. We found after trial and error that we had to align the strap off center to compensate for the weight imbalance. My wife found moving the couch difficult even with the strap although we ultimately did it. We definitely couldn't have moved it with our hands alone for how unwieldy it was. The TV console This box was roughly 7' long and weighed 180lbs. This object was a much better fit for the Shoulder Dolly being a rectangle. We had to move it through our front door, around our house and down a very steep set of basement stairs before moving it into place. This time we much more easily lifted the object, taking some lessons we learned from the last step. The biggest mistake we made was having me go first. I read that when traversing stairs the taller person should go first but I believe that is only true going up stairs. Going down it seems the opposite is true so that the taller person can get the object over the stairs. When going down both the front steps and the basement by me going first, my much shorter wife couldn't raise it high enough even when the strap was fully tight and I nearly pulled my back out trying to compensate. When we got to the basement bottom, it worked much better. Still, same as with the couch, we couldn't have physically moved this with our hands. The workers who brought it into our house seemed to have used a commercial grade version of the Shoulder Dolly themselves. Plusses - Well made straps and buckles - Does what it says and really does help move heavier objects without needing arms or brute force - The balance with the single strap under the object worked better than I thought it would. - Can also use as forearm straps (although we didn't try that method) - Has a pretty large object length limit although I'm questioning if it can handle a 9' object as our 8' object didn't leave much strap length. Minuses - Needs more instruction for various scenarios such as up and down stairs. There are decent instructions overall but we would have had less struggles - My wife at 4'10" found the straps a bit hard to use. They didn't seem to fit right and she was wanting move adjustability with how they fit her. She also thought the strap might have been slipping in the buckle a bit. - I wish there was a bag included with the straps for the price as getting them back into the box is a pain and they will sit until the next large object needs to be moved. - The price is high for what it is

So very helpful once you figure out how to wear the harness. We we able to easily left and safely carry a wide variety of furniture including a very heavy and wobbly mattress, an awkward chest of drawers, etc. Much easier to move things and making it easier to control saves wall dings as well.

These shoulder straps were a life saver. And a back saver. Bought specially to move a very large fireplace tv stand that was about 100 lbs. move was sooooo easy!! Straps are durable, thick, adjustable and stable. Good no matter how tall or short your moving partner is! Wished I would have bought a LONG time ago. Will never move anything again without using them! Highly recommended!
