The Pocket Edition Text contains the complete and unabridged Text portion of A Course in Miracles - Original Edition as it was completed by Helen Schucman and Bill Thetford in 1972. Taken from the original manuscript for the Course, the only editing that has been done to this great spiritual classic has been to correct occasional typographic and spelling errors and to render capitalization and punctuation consistent. This Text volume is the companion to the popular ACIM Pocket Edition Workbook/Manual published by Course in Miracles Society. We call it a pocket edition because the book is designed to go anywhere with the student it is only 8 x 5 and just less than 1 in thickness. You can toss it in a backpack, briefcase or even a lady's purse. Like the Pocket Edition of the Workbook, the Pocket Edition Text is designed for rough treatment it is printed on a durable paper and has a laminated cover that resists spots and staining. Review: Definitely Worth It! A Wonderful Read for those in need of a life-changer - There are few books that really speak to my heart like A Course in Miracles does. A few months ago, I stumbled across a woman named Marianne Williamson on Oprah TV. Oh, Oprah! She always introduces me to the most enlightening people, and incredible works! Anyway, Marianne - a spiritual teacher, professional speaker, former-presidential candidate etc. - spoke about the power of love. It was this direct quote from that video that led me to A Course in Miracles. "Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate, Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure." Take, a moment. Let it sink in. Say ahhhhh. Marianne explained that the quote was not her own, but from an old spiritual book that relayed some of the teachings of Christianity (though not too directly) in a new love-centered way. The Product: My experiences with desertcart continue to amaze me. The book arrived on time, packaged in a neat cardboard box that actually fit in my mailbox perfectly without hindering the book. I love the simplicity of the books exterior; black, plain text "A Course in Miracles." Though some people might want the standard, heavy-duty version, the "pocket" size is perfect for me. It's a regular 8x5 that I can take anywhere, and contains a little over 650 pages. I've been reading A Course in Miracles in unison with Marianne Williamson's own book, A Return to Love which lightly puts in context some of the bigger messages from A Course in Miracles, and overall, enhances my reading experience. A Course in Miracles is a spiritual book, so I don't expect to finish it in the next week, month or year. I expect to learn from it, day-by-day. Eagerly, I enjoy the benefits its lessons about God, humanity, and the transformative power of living a love-centered life bring me. Review: Come on... you know you want to! - What on earth can one say about a seminal book that has changed the world, in the quietest, most unobtrusive way, under the radar and with incredible stealth? hmmm... I shall give it a go, and the reader will forgive my ineptitude! I have downloaded this little puppy on my kindle, so I can easily read this huge (and I mean huuuugggge) book without it breaking my knee, but I have ready it several times, in my life, and I think I am just getting a handle on it! For those of you who don't know, this book came about after a heart-felt plea for a "better way" to be revealed. The author, and her colleague were working at a highly prestigious and highly competitive college in New York, where the back-biting and negativity was literally frustrating and draining them. Shortly thereafter, Helen Schucman began to take notes, which eventually became A Course In Miracles. ACIM is basically three books in one, a text, a work book and a text for teachers. The premise is that most of us have been indoctrinated via our culture and society to think in hate-filled, non-loving, competitive ways, and that this is a kind of insanity. In order to return to sanity, we must retrain our minds and remove the outer layer of indoctrination. Underneath all of this, lying unconcerned and unsullied, lies the eternal love which is our true nature. We asked not to seek love, but instead seek all the blocks to its awareness inside. The Course is not the only way to do this, but it is one very powerful way that I believe works best with the western, educated mind. It slowly buffs away the callouses of the ego, until we can see ourselves revealed within. We actively do this by employing the workbook lessons, and having some understanding of the basics of the text. However, that said, it can take years for this wisdom to seep into every corner of the mind. I still find myself reading a passage that I have read before, only to see something so profound, so amazing, that it blows my mind. I did not see it before, because clearly I had resistance to it. So the whole thing becomes a bit of a journey, to say the least. Of course, from my perspective, what other "course" can be worthwhile? When I first came across ACIM some fifteen odd years ago, I found it incredibly annoying. I found myself unable to read it, and wanting to trash the book. Luckily I had the insight to wonder why it raised such anger because it was, after all, just a book. Then, over time, and searching the internet I found many others had a similar experience. One woman was so flustered by the concepts in the book, that she stopped her car on a busy bridge, during rush house, ran out and threw the book into the icy river below. When I read that I just knew that there was something in this book that I wanted to find and wanted to know. ACIM is not a quick read (to say the least!) but if you are ready and if you can get past your initial resistance (the ego is pretty tricky!!!) this book can and will change your life. Think about it and be patient and loving with yourself, because this journey leads home little prodigal! Enjoy!

com ) I wish I had read it before so I could include some of the amazing statements in my own book
This book is taking me a long time to read as it is so packed with incredible information. I am a late comer to C in M, after having written my own book on the same theme. (http://TheGurusGift.com ) I wish I had read it before so I could include some of the amazing statements in my own book. It just verifies that the Second Coming is about the transformation of the mind/ego to heart/divine. This is the next stage of human evolution where we all live in harmony and love and no more time, hatred, anger and war. The story of how Ms. Schucman got the book is quite fascinating too. She was the original reluctant channeler, and seems to have been trying to hide this from the world when it should have been blasted across it. I also recommend the workbook. If you do the exercises, your mind is going to change and your true self is going to emerge. I cannot think of another book... no not the Bible, Bhagawad Gita, or Koran that can do a better job of transforming humans to Gods.

Compact and portable!
I returned mine because it arrived in a bag and was damaged in transit. I have not bothered to replace it for fear of a repeat I also own the Workbook in this edition. Easier to carry around than my blue FIP 3-volumes-in-one copy. I also prefer the more straight forward language. I look forward to adding this version of the Text to my hard copy or Kindle library at some point.

Uplifting!
Truly the most uplifting and encouraging book thus far, and I am an avid reader. You need to get through the first 2-4 chapters to have some of the concepts click. It is well worth it in every way. It has enhanced my life and my husband is now on chapter 7 and loves it. It is simple, yet profound. I name this my "bible" it is so good. You will never regret reading this book and will have a more peaceful, joyful, fun life applying the guidance written--it speaks to the depths of your heart and soul.

I love that the author uses love and religion as its ...
I'm a big fan of Course In Miracles. I love that the author uses love and religion as its main themes, and combines it with modern spirituality. The only reason I gave the book, (not the content) four stars, is because it could have been written in half the words, and preferably not having it strictly narrated from Christ's point of view. We know that that is what the author actually believed, but it would have been more respectful to Christ himself, if, she had given Him a bit of a leeway instead of being so absolute. And Of course the prose is extremely wordy, and truthfully, a beautiful subject like this one, could have been explained in half the pages. But if you don't mind the wordiness, and repetitive use of language, which at times can be confusing, go for it. Especially if you're looking for a spiritual journey that differs from the others, and goes just a tad a deeper.

College level at least
This book was recommended by a friend. It's quite deep. I have to read each sentence a few times to comprehend. This 70 year old mind is not as sharp as when I was in college. But the content is wonderful. A must read.

Careful: This particular edition features heavy italics & often on the wrong words.
As a 20 year student & reader of ACIM, I cannot recommend this particular edition of the book because it features way too much italicization & very often emphasizes the wrong words in each sentence. I deeply recommend reading ACIM but finding a different edition - particularly the one in the deep blue cover published by the Foundation for Inner Peace. I had to go back to the blue version after this version's italics became way too distracting. Just my experience. ACIM, as it states is a required course. We will all learn these lessons eventually (or right now, if you choose to.) For me, it was much easier to hear the voice of the speaker when reading the blue version, not this altered one. I hope that helps.

The Foundation of New Age Teaching
I have not yet finished this lengthy book, yet I have only positive things to say so far. If one can really focus their mental energy on taking in and digesting each lesson, it is well worth it. This book has become the source and foundation for many New Age teachers, such as Tolle and Williamson, and reading it allows you to go directly to the source of a developed consciousness teaching. The core message of the book is evident: nothing exists except for love. Yet the book allows one to come to terms with this idea and practice it in their own lives. Perhaps before one attempts this book, as it is not a light read, they should read Tolle's works or Williamson's 'A Return to Love' in order to gain a better idea of key terms before delving into it. Overall, if you have the inkling that there may be another way to live life, one that will bring you inner peace, then this book is for you.

Just allow the greatest spiritual text to transform and heal your life.
This is the greatest book that I have read so far. I was prompted to read it in quite an intuitive way. After reading Deepak Chopra's 'Quatum Healing' (a very nice book) in August 2014, I wanted to explore the subject of healing in greater detail. It was evening and I was on my terrace when the title 'A Course in Miracles' started repeating itself in my mind. I came down to my room and googled it... With few clicks, I downloaded a nice pdf. And so, the journey into 'the Course' began... I was awestruck at the beginning lines. Who can talk in such a solemn manner about subject of miracles? The tone was not trying to convince me. It was rather flowing like a river... in its own gentleness and rhythm. The title itself has become holy for me. It has come to me as a great blessing. I am graduate in physics and I never imagined myself talking in this manner. But the Course is that great! How can you not-love it? The deepest truths are presented in most simple manner. Often, a sentence concludes a hundred years of learning. Also I haven't seen such beautiful language anywhere else. The words touch you in the deepest manner possible. I have wept quite many times while reading through the pages... So if you have come here and reading this, then stop thinking now whether to read the Course or not! Just allow the greatest spiritual text to transform and heal your life. Godspeed!

The most transformative spiritual information I have ever read
Not for the faint hearted. A certain amount of determination to know Truth is required to complete the Course, but absolutely worth it if you do. With the willingness to read daily and apply the information in your daily life, the movement from fear to forgiveness begins and ultimately a tangible reconnection to Self/Christ/God is established. Although written in a biblical style, it is not about religion but a manual for self-realisation and freedom.
