Remington SP-5 Pre-Shave Talc Stick Face Saver For all Men's Shavers, Net Weight, 2.1 Oz, Pack of 6

I ordered a six-pack of Remington FaceSaver SP-5 Pre-Shave Talc Stick from LilGift (fulfilled by Amazon) for $28.03 on 3 March and it was delivered on 5 March 2016. I have been using FaceSaver since at least the mid to late 90’s. I always check other products every time I buy a six-pack, but the ratings for other products are never as good and so I have stuck with FaceSaver. I have never had any problems nor have I been disappointed in any way with the minor exception of the small wasted part at the end of the applicator. This stuff ain’t cheap! It has always worked great. I am not a heavy user. A six-pack will last me a couple years since I primarily use razors. I only use FaceSaver a couple times a week with my electric razor when I need to do a quick touch up before going somewhere or when I go more than a day without shaving in which case the blade is going to hurt no matter how sharp it is. I first bought it at the commissary for under $3. After I retired from the military and the price went up I started getting 6 packs from Drugstore.com. Recently l have been buying them from Amazon. There are several other places online that sell it, including Walmart. I wished I would have checked some of them first. Several were very competitive and StockNgo.com has an awesome deal. I uploaded some pics of the current version of the product I received as well as a pic of the old version. The ingredients listed on Amazon ((Beeswax (Apis Mellifera) and Menthol)) are different than what the product says. Other websites with the product match what my product shows: Talc, Paraffin, Paraffinum Liquidum, Iron Oxide, Perfume. Per Tech-Fac.com: Paraffinum Liquidum (MINERAL OIL) is a petroleum by-product and is created through distillation. Mineral oil is an alkane/paraffin that is composed entirely of hydrogen and carbon. It is completely transparent and is basically a liquid form of petroleum jelly. It is produced in large quantities and is used in many different ways all over the world, mostly due to its low toxicity and low cost. Mineral oil is safe for both skin contact as well as ingestion, and can be found in most drug stores. It can be used as a preservative, LUBRICANT, coolant, and non-conductive thermal fluid. Note: It does have some mild toxicity when used in other ways, particularly aerosols in which case one might inhale it. That being said, it never occurred to me that inhaling it could be an issue, but I suppose that could happen while shaving. Note 2: On the MATERIAL SAFETY DATA SHEET for “Remington Face Saver Stick” it also lists additional ingredients of Isopropyl Myristate, L-Menthol and Ethanol. For “Frangrance” it simply says “Various, No Ingredient is Listed” and <0.08%

When i was young I used to watch my father shave with a small powder stick. That was 50 years ago. I discovered Remington Shave stick about 10 years ago when Mennen discontinued it's shave powder. The FaceSaver stick is a compressed powder with medicated additives. You rub the stick over your face and use your fingers to spread the powder. The powder removes the "sticky" feeling of damp skin and lets stubble stand up. I find my razor glides over my skin with less irritation than pre-shave liquids, and I shave just as close. When I am finished I just wipe my face with a damp cloth. The medicated part of the stick is just enough to leave a "fresh" feeling to the skin, with no razor burr. As far as the seller, the delivery was quick. I was surprised how rapidly the shipment arrived. I am no longer able to buy FaceSaver at Wal-Mart or other big box stores. The price I paid brought the price per to just over $4.10 apiece, much lower then I was paying. That is a good deal, especially with Super Saver shipping!!!

I have been buying this product since I started shaving as a teenager in the 80s. In those days, you could find this product at most every drugstore or variety store. Nowadays, the only place to find this is at a local shaver shop or on the internet. I have no idea why it's so rare. If I ever open up a store, I would stock this Face Saver product on my shelves and make a small fortune. People that use this product swear by the results and are very loyal to it. This product is essential in preventing shaving knicks and marks on my face when using my electric shaver. Basically you remove the cap and rub an event amount from the powder stick onto your face and neck and then shave. Be sure your face is completely dry first. It does an excellent job by acting as a thin, smoothing barrier between face and shaver to provide an even and clean shave. Some people use liquid Electric Shave but those bottles don't last long at all and are pricey. One Face Shaver powder stick lasts about a month or so for me. Face Shaver is well worth your investment and works with any dry, electric shaver. I always buy a 6-pack per order as it's the most economical.

Found this when buying replacement electric blades. I like the smooth shave it gives, although there is a drift of talc/whiskers that piles up in the sink. Better than the liquid lotions I've tried for shaving comfort, but messier. It would be nice if they updated the scent to something more appropriate for the 21st century. Seriously, it smells like I remember my ancient great-grandmother. I bought a six-pack and have finished three, so I don't mind it so much now. Oh, and this is Alexandra's husband, just in case you're wondering.

I had purchased this same product from Walmart for my son when I gave him a nice electric shaver. Walmart stopped carrying them. When my younger son began shaving I knew I had to find these for him! Thank goodness for Amazon! Not only did I find what I was looking for, but I found a six pack of them. This stick makes it so easy to use your electric shaver! It easily glides on, makes your whiskers stand up and your shaver glides over your skin. My oldest is a personal trainer so he shaves a lot of his body and this makes it easier. Your skin feels silky smooth and you don't get irritation anymore! BEST PRODUCT FOR SHAVING EVER!

I have used ordinary talcum powder as a drying agent and lubricant for electric razors. It can wear out the blades prematurely The Remington product works for both problems. It is hard to find so I am please that Amazon has a supply.

This stuff definitely works - but I'm not convinced it's worth the price, or the mess it creates. Only occasionally do I see it for sale at a decent price. When applied to your face, it definitely relieves burning, but it creates such as mess in the process.

Not positive if it does provide a better shave, but the usage in itself in a messy outcome. The powder goes all over the sink area, and then you have to wash your face carefully so that the powder does not get anywhere else. Then there is the issue with cleaning the shaver itself which basically is almost impossible. I have a braun shaver that goes into the container to clean the shaver after each use. Well in this case it left a complete mess. Unfortunately, this pre shave stick will find the way in the garbage
