iOpener - Heat Pad Adhesive Opening Tool for Tablet, Phone, Laptop Repair

I believe I first heard of the iFixit brand on a JayzTwoCents YT video. Jay has some fun with the promos, so I had to see what the offerings were. For my modest laptop needs, I picked the iFixit Opener kit, even though I didn't have a need for the phone-specific tools. The spudgers, screwdriver and bits, and tweezers were the most valuable, as well as the smartly designed tray for holding the screws as you remove them. While I have occasionally seen reviews where the people are not happy with the spudgers, not only did I not have a problem with them, they were, as the saying goes, "The right tool for the job." Maybe their laptops were problem child types. My HP is bad enough, but thanks to a helpful vid by TheHGCGamersClub, disassembly was fairly straightforward. HP has two sabotage screws that are hidden, for no good reason, but the iFixit tweezers worked just fine to remove the coverings for extricating the screws. You may need to use the picks to keep things separated as you work your spudger around, but with patience, you can get things apart with relative ease. So, do I recommend this kit? You bet! Thanks to both iFixit and Jay. I might have eventually found iFixit by chance, but glad to have made this choice on the basis of other reviews and Jay being a fanboy, with reason. Wow the packaging is superb, I'm getting a second set of goodies for a excellent price, can use the squeegee card to clean CC machines amongst everything else

I bought the iOpener kit in hopes that it would finally break through that pesky adhesive preventing me from replacing my Surface Book 2 base battery and needless to say; it worked, but I also can't say it's the end all be all for adhesive removal on hostilely engineered devices. The iOpener is a liquid filled bag that you microwave for 30 seconds at a time and use it's retained heat to soften adhesive in a more controlled manner than a heat gun. While a heat gun is certainly faster than the iOpener at distributing heat, it's very easy to overdo it and potentially damage something. Not the case with the iOpener, which doesn't get any more hot than you need and concentrates it's heat distribution evenly along one area. It definitely does what it's intended to. That said, the iOpener is really only as effective as the tools you pair it with and depending on the job, that can either be a cakewalk or an absolute headache. Unfortunately in the case of my Surface Book 2 job, it was the latter in large part to the additional tools that came with the kit. While there isn't anything inherently wrong with them, none of the tools are well suited to penetrating sunken and extremely tight gaps such as those on the Surface Book base. I ended up using two double edge razor blades since they were the the only things I presently had that could fit in the gaps and leverage them open enough to fit the picks and opening tool in. Even then, the tools I did use seem expendable and were pretty tore up after the job. I probably won't be using them again for other work. In conclusion, I would just get the iOpener itself and put the few bucks you save towards tools you know you'll actually need for your job. It's certainly not terrible value if you know you'll fully utilize what's in the kit, but for one and done type jobs, you're probably better off with the iOpener itself. It's worth a look.

This works so amazingly well came with every thing you need to do repairs on electronicss makes the ease of installation so much easier. It comes with my favorite set of magnetic screw drivers. I love how durable and comfortable they are everything fits together

Mainly purchased for the heat pad which worked perfectly. The magnetized screw bits was an added bonus in helping put the tiny screws back where they belonged.

Makes phone repairs easier as the adhesive is pretty strong comes with the bits and screwdriver in the set great value. Compact and will fit in most go bags material is some kind of liquid? Unsure but works wonders

The tools are all good quality and I use them in my kit except for the heating pad. I find that it doesn't retain heat well and doesn't direct it to where it needs to go. Personaly I am skilled enough to use a hot air station to do the same job and not burn what it is I'm trying to lift. The heating pad seams to lose one side and I can get it up but then I have to reheat it place it on the next section wait and then pull it up. With a hot air station I can just circle the entire aria heating it all at once removing it in one go at a quicker speed.

Tanto el iOpener en sí, como las herramientas incluidas son de gran calidad, como todo lo de iFixit, lo único malo podría ser que la caja llegó algo maltratada, aunque no se rompió o dañó nada. Muy recomendable.

I picked up this iFixit iOpener kit to help repair the back panel on my Samsung S21 Ultra and the camera lenses since they were both cracked. It made the whole process much easier than trying to do it without proper heat. Everything in the kit feels like really good quality material so it doesn't feel like your going to break the tools while prying stuff apart. Definitely recommend if your doing some DIY phone repairs, really decent value for money.
