The phone does not require an ac adapter to recharge the batteries. It uses the current present on the phone line to trickle-charge the internal batteries when the line is not in use.

Can you change the cord on this phone or is it "hard wired?" I like the longer cords.

Michael is correct. You can chose the cord length of your choice for both the handset and the phone itself. When I bought my phone, I also purchased a longer coiled cord for the handset. Great phone.

Can the be wall mounted?

It can't be wall mounted if they don't include the mount in the box. Mine didn't include one.....

Does this phone have a voicemail indicator light or any other way of signaling that a voicemail has been received?

From the description of the phone's capabilities it does not appear to have a built-in voicemail or messaging system, so I wouldn't expect it to have a light to indicate voicemail on the unit. Now some folks have voicemail available through their phone service carrier (not internal through the phone itself) so I'd expect there is another way to access the phone carrier's system to check on voicemails, record outgoing messages, save/delete messages, etc.
