On/Off switch for lamp cord
Exactly as described. Quality product. Was able to splice switch into lamp cord very easily. Works perfectly. Fair price. Fast delivery.

Wire connection to switch
This is a high quality inline switch suitable for desk lamps. The switch is about three time the size of a small, inline, rotary switch. The thumb switch is MUCH easier to use than a rotary switch where you need to rotate the switch to just the right position to make it turn on the light. Note: You need a little phillips head screwdriver to replace the old rotary switch. I simply cut the lamp wire on both sides of the old rotary switch, stripped the two wires leaving about 1/2" of bare wire exposed. The wire on most lamp cords is actually a bundle of little hair-thin wires. You need to get all of those little wires twisted so they form a nice, tight single bundle. Split the plastic sheath about 5/8" more so youcan put the wire into the new thumb switch. Use you Phillips screwdriver to take the thumb switch apart. Look at the inside of the switch. There are two screws next to a little neon light. Look at the screws from he side and unscrew the screws until you see that there is enough space between the bottom of the screw and he base so you can insert one of the wires coming from the plug. Insert, tighten the screw and then do the same with the other wire and screw. Next, attach the wires that come from the light to the other two screws using the same technique. Reassemble the case of the switch and you are ready to test the light. -- This type of connection is unusual for most home products but is fairly common in many commercial applications. If you know how to solder electrical equipment you may want to "tin" the four wire leads to do a more professional job.

Inexpensive, comes with helpful nite lite.
Nice replacement. Easy to install if you know how. I liked the nite light that was very helpful in the dark that the original did not have. Wish only it came in a choice of colors. Still a very good deal!

Easy to install, works well.
When my lamps original issue cord switch stopped working reliably, I purchased the only inline switch I could find in a local store. It was one of the thumbwheel rotary switches with press fit vampire tap into the wires. My lamp cord is DC (ie it uses a wall wart) with thinner cord than AC lamp cord, so it was tricky to get the cord pierced right by the switch, and then the switch itself became flaky in less than a year. I tried all three different thumbwheel switches I could buy locally, and they call died in less than a year. My local stores were always out of the larger, morst expensive Leviton rocker inline switches they supposedly carry. So frustrating. This switch installed easily using a positive screw down terminals for the cord; you can be sure you are getting good connection. The indicator LED does not work on a low voltage DC cord, but that was to be expected. What I needed was the switch, and the switch feels good and does work. Only time will tell if the duty cycle claims are correct and it holds up better, but it feels more rugged initially. It is even less expensive to buy 5 of them than the 3 rotary switches were, and it is easier to install and remove, so worst case it is still a far better buy for me. These switches have a smaller size than the more expensive Leviton, and I like the ergonomics of the switch toggle much better as well.Mine came with no instructions. You have to have very basic understanding of electrical circuits to know that you need to keep the hot side of the wire on one pole of both sides of the switch. It isn't rocket science, but if you've never done any wiring at all you might not get that without some instructions. Simpler switches that pass thru one side of the wire and switch the other are harder to mess up.

Nicely crafted switches and easy to install.
Very basic switches, but very well crafted. I used them to replace a set of old switches, and it was very easy to install.

Look good but really just mediocre.
These switches look good. No way they are 250v as stated though. I got them for 120v so they serve my purpose. The connection blocks ( under the screws ) are mediocre at best. I ruined one quite easily trying to get it tight. Do NOT try to tighten they will break. Can't get them tight enough to suit me. Loose connection equals heat which could equal fire. I will most likely get a different kind.

Easy to install & works good.
Installed on lamps.

Work fine
Pretty easy to wire, because they are so big. I do wish they were smaller, but I knew what I was buying. The light works well too, depending on how you wire it it's either indicating on/off, or power availability. If you want it on/off and you find that it's always on, flip the switch around.
