Kali Linux Hacking: A Complete Step by Step Guide to Learn the Fundamentals of Cyber Security, Hacking, and Penetration Testing. Includes Valuable Basic Networking Concepts.

This book was an overview of some of the commands in Kali Linux. Since the book was published in 2019 I found that the VPN site no longer worked that was in the book. There were some commands I haven't seen before that were valuable and wrote them down. The author briefly went over how to install Kali Linux. What the author didn't go over is the fact you can lease a Linode server for as little as five dollars per month in the cloud and have the basic distro setup in as little as 5-10 minutes, which is the option I took. Good introductory Kali Linux book.

Think about it like this if you’re hacking or into hacking. Sometimes you wonder if you’re organized or learning the right way this books helps

This book is a great starting point to Linux Kali family. All the important basics are covered very clear. I'm not hacker yet, but I'm on a good way.

I skimmed every chapter of this book and did not learn anything I didn't already know. It is very basic and for a total noob. I'm giving it 3 stars because it will look cool on my book shelf and there is value for someone who knows nothing. But if you have an experience, this is very very basic.

well written easy to follow

costly and read it if you don't know anything at all about cybersecurity and Linux

This book won't teach you anything about hacking. Subtitle reads: "A complete Step by step Guide to Learn the Fundamentals of cyber security, hacking and penetration testing" - well, this is false title. It should read: "DEFINITIONS of Fundamentals of cyber security, hacking and penetration testing". Yes, this book is full of it. Just definitions. First 50 pages contain just definitions. It feels like reading wikipedia articles, only less detailed. You will do better if you donate £10 to wikimedia foundation, owner of wikipedia, rather than buying this book. It will do more good. Next few pages explain how to install kali linux from an usb stick. Really? Everybody knows Rufus or Universal usb installer or the like. These instructions belong to another book: "Basic operations in Windows and Linux". The rest of the book describes metasploit framework, explains how to install it but doesn't say anything about how to use it. If I open a random youtube video about metasploit I will certainly learn more. The author mentions about existence of hundreds of hacking tools in Kali linux, but he fails to at least list them. If this book at least explained the purpose of each tool in just one short paragraph of text, then at least this book would be at least an index, a point of reference of further searches, but without it, this book is completely and utterly USELESS. The author either does not have any hacking experience or he is unwilling to share it. In either case the book is useless if your goal is to become a hacker or even if your goal is to learn something about hacking. Not sure what was author's motivation (other than make some money) when he wrote this book. I am surprised about so many positive reviews. I need to be more careful in the future and try not to be suggested by the reviews. A lesson for me.
