Will this work on a hp laserjet2100?

I have an HP LaserJet 2100 and the cable worked perfectly with Windows 7 and is working perfectly with Windows 10.

Can the printer be shared since it is usb and mircosoft stopped usb printer sharing recently?

I did not try that. I only used it between my Mac Air and an HP 4P printer. It was “plug and play”. I did not need to do anything else to make it work. Sorry, could not help much. Good luck!
