For the love of Cacti
A couple of years ago my mom asked if Iโd be interested in a cactus or three (she had Christmas Cacti, Prickly Pear, and a kind she didnโt know; all of which sheโd inherited). Having just found my green thumb and knowing that cacti were drought resistant I jumped at the chance. However, when I went to pick them up I ended up with ALL of them. A few sheโd had since 1989, all of which sheโd NEVER transplanted! Up until this year I had done my best to keep them alive, but some of the Christmas Cacti were dying off. The others, were thriving and even after getting rid of over a dozen Prickly Pear I was drowning in cacti (still am). Well I decided this year I was gonna do it right and buy the correct soil and save the Christmas Cacti! I purchased this and was a little afraid of root shock, so I took to my Prickly Pear and other cacti that are multiplying without my consent. Well, several injuries later, I transplanted a few pots and now.... I have even more multiplication going on! I also transplanted my aloe vera plant, because it had consumed all of its previous soil and was just a root ball with a little dirt. In the month since I have transplanted it, itโs doubled in size and was already pretty big! I did my research and discovered that while Prickly Pear and the other cacti (a finger-like cacti) are happy with little water, as they are desert cacti. Christmas Cacti are happy with MORE water, so to go with this I purchased some coco coir to hold more water for them. Then came the dreaded task of โOperation Save The Christmas Cactiโ, as I want to give a couple away as Christmas gifts this year. So I sat down with everything I needed. I used a small amount of coco coir, as it is just to help with watering, but once rehydrated (I bought the compressed kind) I mixed it with this soil. And started dissecting the planters and getting rid of the old soil and finding my roots. The old soil was no longer holding water and I had been poking holes in it to get water to the roots. It seems as if I may have lost three or four four plants, but if I found a root system I thought might be able to be saved I replanted it. I replanted the first planter (of four) and was happy with the new arrangement, then set it aside. I replanted the second, was equally happy, went to set it next to planter one. And... what? Planter oneโs plants were already noticeably happier, their leaves were brighter and were moving! I could see them perking up. Ok, maybe itโs just me. Nope, my dog is now standing between me and said planter and she looks concerned. I quickly tell her itโs ok, but by this time my other dog is now watching. They have now decided to stand guard. I finish up the third planter, and once again planter two is noticeably more happy. Now when doing planter four, this is the planter that has my plants that need that extra TLC, the oldest plants that were the most damaged. I decided to take a plant from each of the first three planters and place it in the fourth and add a extra TLC plant in itโs place in the original three planters as I ran out of the coco coir mixed soil, the fourth planter would also have a TLC plant in it. I had read that doing this can help plants โrecover and healโ. With all four planters assembled, it was now after 9pm (which was the goal) so I watered everyone and went inside. I got up the following morning and my leaves were no longer โdingyโ and โdustyโ looking. They are bright and colorful. They are no longer droopy, but are perking up and within a couple days are budding. This is ALL four planters, not just the ones with coco coir. I have seen a little green coming from two of the four TLC plants so far. I have ordered a second bag and am going to transplant ALL of the other cacti, and most likely sell and/or give away a good portion of them as I too often get attacked by them if I look at them too long. Iโm surprised my dogโs have not been attacked by them. I also have cats and I donโt need them jumping on cacti, which is why my from porch has looked like a cacti outlet for the last 4 months at least. Do I recommend? Absolutely! How โCactiโ not buy this again!

Good but costly
It is what it says. I had no issues or concerns with it. Seems a little costly but it works.

The Secret Ingredient for a Plant Party!
I recently started using Miracle-Gro Cactus, Palm, and Citrus Potting Mix, and let me tell you, itโs like the secret sauce for my plant collection. I mix it with other potting soil to create what I like to call the โUltimate Plant Blend.โ This mix is fantastic for adding a little extra magic to my cactus, palm, and citrus plants. Itโs like giving them a VIP pass to the plant party โ they get the perfect balance of nutrients and drainage to thrive. My plants seem to be loving their new soil combo, and theyโre growing like theyโre on plant steroids (but the legal, non-enhancing kind, of course). If youโre looking to make your plants feel like theyโve just stepped into a luxury spa, this potting mix is a great start. Just mix it with your favorite potting soil, and watch your plants enjoy the good life. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to give their green friends a little extra oomph!

Worked great for potting succulents
I ordered a bunch of succulents to give as gifts and I purchased this Miracle-Gro Cactus, Palm & Citrus Soil to use as potting soil. It worked great and the succulents are doing really well and are growing fast. This potting soil was easy to use and I just poured it from the bag right into the container. It was also way more economical than most of the other potting soils that were available. I will definitely buy this again.

Great soil...with a helpful tip
Its a really good soul. I love Miracle Gro and use the houseplant mix and also the cactus mix for most of my plants needs. But let's face it, all store bought soils now are infested with aphid, whitefly and/or other things that can threaten your plants health. Instead of planting my plants immediately in soil, and then eradicating these pests as i see them, i have devised a system that works nicely. I found this recipe online, 1 qt water, 1 tbsp Dr Bronners liquid peppermint soap and a 1 tsp peppermint oil. I mix it well in a large bucket. When the soil is saturated (but not sopping), it sits for a day or 2. It will begin killing whatever begins hatching. Then i spread the wet soil out on a large area with plastic underneath and let the soil dry out a bit before i use it on my plants. (Commercial dish soap is dangerous to plants and can possibly burn them.) This system works for me and trust me, i have been thru 3 yrs of battling whitefly and black aphids. Black aphids were a huge nightmare with my potted African Daisies. I now have everything pretty much under control now. I just wanted to pass this on. its def not for Orchids or those types. I keep this mix in a spray bottle and use it to spray top soil as needed when i see a small problem with usually whiteflys. But nowhere near the bug nightmare i had before i began treating the soil.

I have finally re-potted all my plants in desperate need for this soil. Everything is looking better, greener and much perkier than usual.
