Order yourself an industrial sized can opener while you’re at it…
I have no doubt that this item is amazing considering all the other reviews I’ve read about it. That alone made me jump at the chance to order myself two cans. I intended to immediately open one to use right now and then save the other one to use later on and purchase more depending upon how well my family liked the can we opened. Here’s where I should have paid more attention to the comments in the reviews but didn’t, and it was a mistake to overlook this. I too, found out that I’m unable to get one of these cans opened up with any of the can openers that I currently own. Upon further investigation I went to the manufacturer’s website and they suggested that in order to open up one of these cans you should use an industrial sized can opener or one claiming to be heavy duty! No where on this item description do they bother to let customers know this in advance of making a purchase! So now I suppose I’m expected to also make a purchase for an appropriate type can opener so that I can enjoy the item I’ve already purchased. Just FYI, if you don’t own the appropriate type opener, toss it in with your order for this or you can just plan on sitting this can aside. The lid sits down too low for a regular can opener to reach it in order to make a cut. I won’t take away from the product when this information should have been disclosed by the seller, Amazon in order to inform the customers about the product they’re buying beforehand. ***** Update ***My Son worked at opening this can with the can opener that I already owned and that I had been trying to use. He finally managed to get it opened but he had a mess with lots of loose slivers from the steel can that we had to be very careful about not getting mixed in with the strawberries. We used tape to catch the slivers and then wrapped the edge of the can with the tape so we could dump the strawberries into a large ziplock bag. My can was more than 3/4 full and the strawberries are amazing, just as others have mentioned. We made a strawberry cake with cream cheese frosting and tossed in some of these strawberries to bake in the cake mix and it was delicious! This is a wonderful purchase with the exception of having difficulty opening the can. A heavy duty can opener or access to a commercial can opener would be very helpful. Maybe a school or senior center would open the can for you if asked or a restaurant owner. **** Another update, just fyi I failed to mention that this is what’s known as a Number Ten (10) can in the food industry and the appropriate type of can opener will usually mention that it is capable of opening this type of can. The main difference between this type of can and your average can from your pantry is this type of can has a slightly larger depth from the top edge of the lip where the can opener will rest to the lid where it will make the cut. If you think about it, it makes good sense to have a larger seal if you’re gonna expect it to stay fresh for 25 years, unopened. I need to purchase some more because the family already found the ones that I had hidden to save. Anything you love to use Strawberries in, here’s your answer! Cakes, ice cream sundae, smoothies, fresh salads, fruit salads, the possibilities are endless.

Great stuff
This bag absolutely crushes it with beautiful Color, Fresh smell, and a "I want one more flavor power." If this bag was a race car it’d be a top fuel drag car Smashing into your taste buds at 300 MPH with nothing but whoop as*. So why are you still talking? Gift your taste buds with a kick of flavor that lasts longer than this convo. P.s. You can thank a human for this compilation, no ai was used. 😉 Chew ability was great. Ingredients are great, sugar, free. I don't know freshness was awesome. Sugar content was whatever view was top-notch. And anything else on the checklist, who freaking cares? It was as edible as a fresh container of strawberries. Take that algorithm.🙋♂️

DELICIOUS blueberries, strawberries and bananas! Heed the stated volume!
In January 2026 I bought a #10-size can each of Augason freeze-dried blueberries (12oz for $28.60, $2.38/oz), strawberries (6.4oz for $20.60 @41%off, $3.22/oz), and banana chips (25oz for $12.32). I loved the taste of the blueberries and strawberries, but the banana chips tasted more like potato chips than bananas. This is the first time I've purchased freeze-dried fruit, so I didn't know what to expect and certainly am no expert. I'm just giving my first impression and preferences. I bought them to add to oatmeal and smoothies instead of frozen berries taking up my limited freezer space. I already know I won't get the bananas again, only because I love the taste and texture of still-green bananas though i didn't expect these to be the same. I just don't see myself eating them as much as the berries. The berries are pricey, especially the strawberries, but also delicious. I was disappointment to see you only get half the volume of the other two. Opening a can half full is a bummer, but the ad does say you're getting 6.4oz, not 12oz (blueberries) or 25oz (bananas). I poured all 3 cans into Cambro food-grade containers and, well there you go. Enjoy!

Great healthy snack, quantity could be better.
I absolutely love these they're such a good healthy snack and they taste so good. My only problem is for the price you would hope it would be full in the can but it's only half full after opening, see picture.

Got What I Paid For; Good for Long Term Storage
First, and most important, the weight of the strawberries I received was 6.6 oz., a little more than the specified weight. So, I got what I paid for. By the way, the unopened can weighs 16.7 oz. By itself, the can and lid weighs 10.1 oz. So, in the future, I can tell whether I got the correct 6.4 oz. without having to open the can. And the can was nearly full, surprising me. About 5" of the 7" tall can, or 71%, was full of berries. Second is the number of servings. Following the printed statement on the can label, I measured out 10 grams, or 1/2 cup, of berries that was supposed to equal one serving. 10 grams did equal 1/2 cup. I actually got 18 servings from the 6.6 ounces of berries. But the last cup full had a fair amount of powder in it. Third, the quality. The berries tasted good. Both dry and rehydrated, they had a reasonably sweet taste, just a little tart as you might expect from strawberries. The main difference is that when dry, they are very crunchy. When rehydrated, they are squishy. They do not have the firmness of fresh berries. But that should be expected. As for their appearance, they are shriveled as expected, but they were good-sized even when dry (see pictures). The coloring was the expected "reddish" color of strawberries. Finally, I rehydrated some, following the directions on the label, putting some warm water over a handful of dried berries. I left them in the water for about 15 minutes to make sure they were rehydrated as much as possible. One thing I noticed was that only about 1/4 of the 1 cup of water was absorbed. Next is the cost. These berries cost $22.44 (on sale) or $3.5/ounce. At the retail price of $33.99, the price per ounce would be $5.31. But if we assume that the 6.4 ounces of berries were roughly equivalent to, let's say, 4.5 pints, then the cost per pint is $4.99/pint, or $7.55/pint at the regular price. By the way, the sale price went up nearly $4 the next day. So, we pay the extra cost for the benefit of being able to store the strawberries for an extended period of time - for emergencies. And I would buy these again for such a contingency. (Now that I've opened the can, I will need to eat them in the next few months.) But I would NOT buy these for regular or daily use if I had access to dried berries at the grocery store. PS: Some people think that because they get a large can, they should get it full of berries. But the picture clearly shows that the net weight is 6.4 oz. (or is supposed to be). I'm not sure why they chose 6.4 oz., but a check of two other vendors shows that they also put only 5.6 and 7 ounces of berries in their containers. Yes, Augason could put more berries in the can, but they would charge more for the berries. There is a cost associated with the production - the more berries, the higher the cost. The #10 can is a standard sized can used not only by Augason, but also other manufacturers who sell long-shelf-life food products. Using one size can is cheaper than having many different size cans. I have #10 cans with products weighing 2+ pounds. But 6.5 ounces fill most of the can. If someone got only 1/2 of a can full, then they might question the amount. But you have to go by weight, not apparent volume.

They are such a great quality of dried strawberries!
Absolutely the best tasting dried strawberries 🍓 They are large in size and taste like no added sugar was used. They are such a healthy snack. Even my bunnies love them and it gives them the zoomies. I have tried other brands but these win hands down everytime. Will be purchasing again and highly recommend.
