Spectre Timber Fixing Screws | 6.3 x 150mm | Ruspert, Green | Box 50

Although these screws aren’t arriving until Thursday coming I have had these screws before from this seller as well as various other sellers and manufacturers I refer to this type of screws as Timber Drive Screws or Timby D’s. They drive into Timber posts and sleepers with ease and the quality is flawless. I could secure a 4” Timber gate post to a wall with one 150mm screws and a 10mm grey winged wall plug and this post would be solid however I always use 4 just to make sure it goes nowhere. The screws can be fired in using an impact driver and a hex bit functionality is second to none. It’s a beautiful thing.

I like these. I’m not a professional tradesperson but have used them quite a lot. They appear very strong. So strong I used them to try and jack out a couple of fence posts in a way I’d seen on YouTube. Unfortunately they bent and snapped. The fact I tried it with these rather than anything else indicates my opinion of them.

These screws are, to an average DIYer, great value for money. Have been able to find a wide range of uses without any of the heads giving way to an over-zealous impact driver! Well worth the purchase and I have bought 3 packs so far!

I was really impressed by these screws. I bought the 150mm to attach 100mm Fence posts to a concrete block wall, for plumb & added support prior to concreting in to ground. Fortunately the Hex bit was included in the pack I received & I am sure made a big difference to ease of use. I decided to use my electric power drill to drive in screws. I tried to drill slowly, but the screws absolutely flew in & a few of the Heads went into the timber posts. Hard to control, but that is far less a problem than when you are struggling to tighten the screws to insert them in. A great product & I would definitely buy again & recommend for any heavy duty landscaping projects. UPDATE - I ordered a further 5 boxes of the 100mm length to fixed oak sleepers to wooden posts (see photo). I had to remove 2 of the boards to cut the posts down to finished height & they were so easy to remove. As the bit that came with EACH box is magnetic the screws were held by the driver at withdrawal. They also went back in perfectly fine. Hopefully they stand up over time to the British weather, but as others have said, these bad boys are fantastic!

Would have given 5 stars other than the fact the hex head seems to give way in drill bit when drilled in with extra force.
