OXO Steel Salad Spinner

This is a great salad spinner. I use prepackaged salads that say they are washed, but I always get an upset stomach from them. I open the package, take out the inner package of dressing and then dump the solid mixture into the inner basket to be washed with water or a mixture of vinegar and water. The strainer basket is fine enough so that even with chopped salads 99% of the salad will stay within the basket and maybe only two or three little pieces will get stuck in the strainer so not a problem. There is no problem at all putting the top mechanism onto the strainer basket as some people have indicated, it’s quite easy. I am in my 70s and I have no problem operating the spinner so I can’t imagine why people have said they count under the top on the rotating basket.The bottom plastic piece is a sturdy polycarbonate that I think will wear quite well, and it provides a pivot point for the basket to spin on. Oxo even provided a finger slot so you can easily lift the bottom plastic beats out of the container to drain water. Since the spin mechanism is collapsible, it doesn’t take much room to store so I store it in the refrigerator to keep it cold for the next batch of salad. The brake mechanism works fine despite what some reviews have said, but normally I let the basket come to a stop by itself as I am preparing the dressing. After all, you bought it to spin so let it spin. So again-no problem. It is true, however, that the stainless steel bowl is rather thin and a bit flexible. But this does not inhibit the operation of the unit. I think the stainless steel ball is just engineered to be adequate and not add unnecessary steal an extra weight to the product. It is not built like a 1959 Buick Roadmaster, but more like a completely competent Honda Accord. If you make more salad than you can eat in one sitting, I recommend getting a universal, flexible silicone top to put on the stainless steel base to store your salad for the next meal.

Excellent easy most sturdy & fastest to use salad spinner that I have ever owned. Yes it's pricey, but it was well worth the money after I used this thing. You just stuff the green leaf lettuces, greens or fresh herbs inside the plastic bpa free strainer bowl & then place the plastic bpa strainer bowl inside of the stainless steel strainer bowl. What I like about this Salad Spinner is that it is built well, solid & it has the safe silicone grip on the bottom of it to make it grip the counter, so while it's spinning it does not slide on the counter, but it does rock. It is so easy to press button to unlock & to pop the button up to press it to spin the salad goodies. It does not have one of those middle things in the middle of this salad spinner like all other annoying salad spinner, so you have all of the entire space inside of the bowl for spinning your green leaf healthy goodness. It's silent while spinning veggies, it does rock a little from side to side a little when you hit the button a bunch of times, but well expected in my eyes. Everything that I have purchase from this company OXO has been excellent quality & I also own other products from them & they are also well made & work excellent just like this excellent salad spinner that I will purchase again when it comes to the end of it's life which I reckon will be in a long time from now considering the well built construction of this awesome looking & working salad spinner. It is an extreme delight to use unlike all of the other salad spinners that I have owned before this excellent product. It is easy to wash & nothing sticks to the surfaces either the plastic basket or the stainless steel bowl. I only wash the this salad spinner by hand & have never put it into my dishwasher & will never put it into my dishwasher because I want it to last & I wash all of my stainless steel products by hand. I also use the stainless steel bowl for organic gluten free air popcorn & for huge salads because it has so much space inside this wonderful bowl & plus it is so easy to wash out & dry out because the surface is just so nice & nothing stick's to it at all. So you should go & purchase this Salad spinner because believe me you will be happy that you finally paid more for a salad spinner because I surely was after I got it & used it.

The stainless steel outer bowl is a clear upgrade over OXO or IKEA plastic alternatives—durable, easy to clean, and visually superior. However, the spinning mechanism itself is a mixed experience. Strengths: • Stainless bowl construction adds durability and aesthetic value. • Locking mechanism is helpful during use and transport. • Adequate performance for standard salad or greens spinning tasks. Design & Usability Issues: • More complex to use than simple crank-based spinners. • Multiple plastic components, including a thin plastic base mount, introduce fragility. Any imbalance strains this weak point, which feels like a significant design oversight. • The assembly has a “max speed” limit—forceful spinning can cause the internal parts to uncouple. • Extra parts mean more time spent on cleaning, with unnecessary complication for a basic kitchen task. Verdict: At $60+, the durability of the bowl doesn’t offset the overcomplicated, less durable mechanics. Functional, but not ideal. I would not repurchase if this unit fails—view the stainless bowl as the real value, not the spinner itself.

The OXO Stainless Steel Salad Spinner is worth every penny. The spinner is easy to use and to clean. This saves loads of time. Most importantly, OXO takes care of its customers - here's what I mean: Only month into having the spinner and using it, we lost the clear plastic disc that the basket rests upon to spin. I called OXO to order a replacement and what did they do? The sent me a whole new spinner! Wow. I'm an OXO customer for life.

I wanted to leave a review here in case anyone is confused if they receive a different salad spinner than what they expected. It seems there is an updated version to the OXO stainless steel spinner. I recently decided to get a proper salad spinner and wanted to invest in a good one. Stainless steel seemed to be a good choice as my previous history with plastic ones were not long lasting. I liked the OXO design so I went with it. I liked it a lot and because it was on sale, I got a second one shortly after as a house warming gift. When it arrived it was then when I noticed that they have two different designs. You’ll notice in the photos that there are two design differences from the actual shape, material on the base, to the centre spinning mechanism (black vs clear) and once you open it, you can tell by the baskets and even the base. The older model had less plastic parts compared to the newest one. The newer one has a flat stainless steel base and comes with a removal plastic plate that raises the basket for it to spin whereas the older model’s base is raised within the design of the steel bowl. I realize the updates/changes could be for a few things such as monitoring any possible mould growth in the spinning mechanism vs. not being able to see in the solid black one. I read in another review that one of the cons of the older model was that there was no replacement part for their cracked basket after the steel base made a hole in the basket’s centre. This makes me believe that the big reason for the “newer/clear” spinner design is to accommodate and match its plastic counter parts (they use the same basket and clear base plate) in case you need replacement for the basket or lid. I can also tell you that the lid and basket for the new one will not fit on the older steel base because they’re not the same size. So you’re out of luck if for some reason need a replacement for the older one down the road. Wrote this as an FYI so that you’re not surprised at a slightly different design or if you’re wanting the older version and trying to limit plastic in your items. It seems they’ll be phasing out the older one. The listings on Amazon are showing the newer model.

É a segundo secador de salada da Oxo que compro. O modelo anterior, que eu tinha também era excelente e durou muitos anos. O único senão é o preço, que é muito maior que o dos concorrentes. Este modelo, vem com a forma externa em inox, o que considerei uma vantagem em termos de durabilidade. Seca muito bem todos os vegetais folhosos verdes. Com o novo modelo de "compressão", ficou muito mais fácil de obter um excelente resultado sem precisar tanto esforço. Há uma dificuldade inicial, até que se acostuma, com o procedimento da limpeza, mas isso é um fato menor. Gostei tanto, que comprei outra para presentear no Natal. O produto veio bem embalado e perfeito, dentro do prazo.

I absolutely love this salad spinner. I have had it for a few years now and it still works really great. Cannot recommend it enough. It's not small, and takes up a bit of space in the cupboard. Really nice solid construction with the stainless steel. It's heavy too. It goes really fast and spins the salad well. Super easy to use. Genuinely I think the best salad spinner i have ever used
