Yamaha EMX212S 12-Input Powered Mixer

If there was ever a piece of sound-reinforcement equipment that had the flexibility to cover almost any small-medium sized venue event in an all-in-one package reliably, this would be it. Yamaha has an impressive set of features built-in, where the only limiting factors may be the total number of XLR-microphones needed to plug in, (8, 10, 12). Plus, as you grow, this package also works as a fantastic powered monitor subsystem. Small, light weight, powerful, flexible, and throw in Yamaha's reliability and I knew I had the right setup for the price.

I am not sure if issue is with mine only. But I have tried 2 different types of Microphone and it does respond only if microphone is touching the lips. even 1 inch way is too far for it. When I tried the same microphone on another (Yamaha) mixer which was cheaper, they worked fine even from 3 inch. Something is not right with this model.

I used this unit for the first time last weekend to play some solo guitar instrumentals and guitar-accompanied vocals at a friend's outdoor wedding. The sound was very clear (using 8 inch 2 way Yamaha speakers from my old Stagepas 300 system that finally died last week). Operation is pretty simple, though I haven't read about all the adjustments yet. Seems pretty well made (the Stagepas lasted almost 10 years). It's still light and portable. Plenty of power for my solo/duo singer-songwriter stuff.

I am a DJ and musician and this amp is very versatile for all my needs. It is light but powerful and has a lot of cool, bells and whistles that enhance both my live performances and DJ gigs. The price was the best I found and I got it very quickly. I am very happy with this purchase and would recommend highly.

Does Yamaha ever build a bad product? I don't think so! This is a fully functional amp + mixer, and has on-board effects. Two minor concerns: like many Yamaha sound system products, it has one quarter inch and one speakon jack for outputs. Could use more options. Second, the "weirder" effects such as chorus, phase shifter and flanger are not as strong as the reverb, echo and plate effects. overall, a fantastc little unit!

bought this in July delivered fast, which was great. set it up mic worked great, got some sound then nothing smelled a odor never could get it up and running again. got on computer with Amazon customer service, they were great. Got another mixer shipped right away. Set it up and i am up and jamming again Love this mixer, has all the power i need. Will get a better feel for this mixer Saturday have a party to DJ. Sending damaged one back tomorrow. Thanks Amazon

I am liking this little beast that replaced my Phonic 410/ 100 watt mixer. The additional 100 watts of power drives my passive Kustom 125 watt speakers with ease. I am glad it has speakon as well as 1/4 in input for speaker cables. You can run passive or powered speakers. Has several effects (reverb etc) It has a nice bass boost button and standby button. It has RCA inputs for plugging in a tablet, iPhone or laptop for playing music, which is what I use it for. It has all the power you need to DJ a fairly large event. You could buy more power but won't need it for an event of 200 or so people. People will ask you to turn it down unless you have a wild bunch of kids that want jet engine volume. Lot of mic inputs. No problems with this baby. Yamaha quality.

Unit is lightweight and has plenty of power for my home studio/practice space. Item is as described and is a good value for the money.

I've owned and used many larger more powerful mixers and was a little worried about purchasing this one. My intention was to simplify and downsize my equipment but not to lose quality and versatility. I shopped quite a bit and am very happy with this mixer. It worked great with a five piece band in a smaller hall as well as duo gigs.

When it comes to musicical equipment I associate Yamaha with quality - this unit renders no need, whatsover, to review my judgement. Above all the sound quality is excellent and the controls are set out with total empathy for the end user. I do not play in large venues so the power output of this unit amply covers my requirement even when in the split power mode. This mode I find particularly useful since it allows me to use passive monitors - that saves me money and makes the total weight of my equipment a lot less. One slight drawback in this mode is having to have a mix of speakon and jack connectors for each set of speakers. I will explain this a little more - the split assigns outputs B to the monitor. One of the B outputs is a speakon the other is a jack. The same mix applies to the main output. The weight of the unit itself is amazingly low - it's hard to believe it delivers such power with quality. The effects range is varied and great for vocals - there is plenty to experiment with and end up with exactly the mix you want. Other guitar effects, such as chorus and phasor, will not be used by me as I have separate valve, guitar amp. On using the unit for the first time I was unaware that the effects footswitch does not require a latching mechanism. The effects switch over after each operation - there is not one position for effects on and another for effects off. In a live situation it is not easy to determine if effects are on or off before you start singing. Higher models of this unit provide compressor action on each channel - that could prove useful and may be worth considering the extra cost, however, I am thoroughly happy with the performance of this unit.
