Numark Mixtrack Platinum FX DJ Controller

I loved this controller. It works perfectly, is very easy to use and handle, and the quality is excellent. I highly recommend it. It’s worth every penny! You won’t regret it; the quality is very good.

I have a lot of experience using different controllers for my DJ work and i have got to say that as far as the lower end of high performing deck controllers, the Numark Platinum FX is certainly one of the better pieces of equipment i have ever had the pleasure to own and work with. let me take you through both the pros and cons of what i have experienced so far for this piece of equipment: PROS: ) Has options to plug directly into the controller itself instead of trying to work out the audio channels for your audio cue. this makes mixing sounds and previewing them so much better. )AUX cables for external speakers. super convenient to have as i can plug in amps and even a subwoofer if i want to without having to go through extra steps to make sure my computer has the ability to run it. )external microphone jack. so now i can actually put in the ability to use a stage microphone which in most cases especially when trying to make announcements or speak during parts of a mashup im making, i can do so without the curse of having weird background noises from a computer mic set up. )smooth and easy to use hardware. picking this up and using it is easy enough as long as you have a basic understanding already of how things work. being able to run 2 decks for songs then 2 separate decks so i can play loops and stems in addition to the music opens up the possibility to mix matching and remixing music for me i was not able to before. and now CONS: )as well made and intuitive this controller can be, shifting between decks 1 and 3 as well as 2 and 4 comes with some difficulty. you have to push down on the shift key then while holding it you press scratch and that tells the hardware that your now using the other deck on that particular side that you pushed the buttons on. as simple as it may seem, it can be difficult, especially during critical moments when trying to execute a drop that requires the coordination of 2 decks in addition to the primary deck playing its song i dont see why it wouldnt make more sense to introduce a toggle switch or even just have a completely different set of buttons that all you have to do is push it. for that matter... why is the shift key and the scratch button all the way apart on opposite ends of each deck? why not just have them closer and positioned so i dont have to use 2 hands or awkwardly stretch my hand to just to shift to the other deck. )buttons and slides and toggles sometimes dont register. what i mean by this is if i swap decks real fast and try to twist a couple of dials and drop the volume down if i move to fast or dont have everything positioned just right when i make my swaps and audio changes the commands sometimes dont register in the hardware so the software wont register either. this leads to undesired overlap of sounds sometimes ruining an otherwise perfectly good mix recording or the perfect set up to a drop or well executed fade out in a song transition or failure to transition a song correctly. ) make the FX buttons customizable. as nice as it is to have the flanger and phaser and what have you readily available, i dont have the ability to change those buttons from those functions to instead run something like noise or pitch/speed changes on the fly when i want and need them to happen. if i go through the settings of my software and painsakingly make those changes that means i have to change the function of my FX buttons through a long and tedious process that during a DJ set i frankly dont have the time to deal with or do. so its either your stuck with your preset FX effects from the start of your set till the end or risk fumbling while trying to fight your software and switch decks in a difficult way OVERALL: Its a good piece of hardware and as frustrating as it can be in its moments, it also has brought along some of my most incredible sounds and transitions. i would most certainly recommend this controller to anyone however, best to get experience with maybe a nuwmark mixtrack pro 3 or something first and get used to playing with only 2 decks at a time before taking on this beast and its 2deck to 4 deck shift key set up. First thing's first: I'm old, and I didn't know people were beatmatching by pressing a "Sync" button until I got this thing. Who knew? While beatmatching doesn't matter a ton with the music I play live, I can see the "sync" being helpful for beginner DJs. I don't care about having tons of bells and whistles. I play mostly new wave and goth, and my audiences want to hear the songs the way they were recorded. Having a little sampler built in is cute, but I'll never use it. I really just wanted something that was easy to transport, didn't have a huge learning curve, and was laid out like regular non-computer mixers I'd used in the past. Honestly, this controller does so much more than I need it to do... I only chose this model because I wanted the LED displays (remember: I'm old) and wanted a built-in sound card and mic input. Maybe I could have found something cheaper that does what I need, but I didn't find anything that seemed as well-built. I'm happy with my purchase for sure. I'd never used Serato until I got this controller. I played around with it (Serato Lite) for a few weeks and just couldn't get into the workflow. Using this controller with Serato actually made me dislike the controller at first! Fortunately, this controller works great with Virtual DJ, as tragic as that software's name is, and now I really enjoy it. The only drawback I'm seeing is that only having RCA outputs isn't going to work for some people. I mostly play music at regular bars and parties, not big clubs, so I'm fine going without.

So I do love this controller and I upgraded from the Numark Mixtrack Platinum but after a while my volume control on Deck 2 has decided to do its own thing in the software even when you aren't touching the volume on the controller itself. It will shoot up on its own, it will shoot down on its own not for nothing but another DJ friend of mine had the same problem and he just replaced it with the same controller and his has been fine ever since. 4 months now I've been checking Amazon to see if it would go on sale because I am on disability and have a fixed income so not only would I have to make payments through Amazon because I can't get approved with Affirm I certainly need a working controller for my one night a week DJ gig and when I DJ at home on TikTok. Well yesterday hallelujah which was Saturday August 8th I looked on Amazon and the controller had went down to $229. The first time in months that I've been looking hasn't gone down like that so I planned on getting it through Amazon's payment plan but first I decided to contact Numark did you see if maybe they were aware of the problem and could help me before spending any money that I didn't have. They had me reset the software to factory settings which sucked in itself cuz it went back to the day I installed it but they thought that might fix the problem. It did not so they put in a ticket for me but it's not under warranty or anything so I decided that like one in the morning I was going to go ahead and get the controller on sale and make a lower initial payment and monthly payment. Don't you know that when I got back online it had went back to the $279 like it never even went on sale. I was so mad because I thought for sure I have at least a day or so. I check it everyday sometimes 2 or 3 times a day so it was less than 24 hours that it was on sale. It sucks because now I'm using the old controller that I upgraded from and now I have to go in and fix my settings in my software for them having me to reset everything to factory defaults so I am back at square one. If it wasn't for that second deck issue with the volume I would have given this five stars. It's an amazing controller and I know that the price doesn't seem that far off for most people but when you're on a fixed income like disability which everybody knows isn't enough to even live on you can't just go and buy it but I definitely suggest this controller. Thank you.

This might just be my best purchase from Amazon. Everything exactly as expected.

Great for beginning or hobby DJs. Weightier than I expected, which is good. The up and down faders and platters are sticky out of the box, but are starting to loosen up. Buttons are clicky and pads are not wobbly. The crossfader is decent, but feels cheap banging against the plastic cover, but this is also a sub-$300 machine, so it’s acceptable. I’m not a fan of having to go into serato settings to adjust the fader curves, but again, a small inconvenience relative to it’s price point. You will need a subscription to Serato, and it does run well streaming from Tidal. Coming from turntables and not having played anywhere for a few years, I was surprised at how easy it was for me to immediately start making good blends, and effects and loops and cue points were also easy to learn. Scratching is proving slightly more difficult to master, and I’m not sure if it’s a fault of technique or hardware or both. As you can see by the pictures (ignore my messy office/studio), it’s a very nice size. For this price point, you get a feature-packed, solidly built piece of gear from a well-established brand.

It is definitely different making a transition from a dedicated mixer and turntables/cdjs. This isn't a replacement, but for someone that is looking to reduce the amount of equipment for smaller gigs it is a plus. It has great size and functionality, the jog wheels have a good feel and good display brightness. Since the outputs are rca I run it through a small mixer so I get the sound quality of balanced xlr. As for compatibility I use a MacBook with djay pro and serato dj pro (not lite). ***Note: The only issue I have is the the pitch sliders aren't as precise as I'm used to. But as I mentioned that this controller isn't a replacement for a dedicated mixer and turntables/cdjs

Excelente Controlador, es el 2do que pido. El anterior ya tengo 3 años con en el cual lo traía trabajando todos los fines de semana y me sorprendió la durabilidad y el material del cual está hecho y siendo honesto, preferí este modelo que cualquier otro de gama baja de Pioneer. Después voy por el Mixstream.
