If you want to get to know the 65xx processor family, this is a must
Take a deep dive into the architecture and instruction set. The 65xx family is a great place to start

A Thoroughly Complete Manual about 65xxx Architecture and its Programming!
This is quite the hefty tome, but the included software listings alone are worth the price of admission. The book is extremely thorough in fully exploring the 816 architecture, instruction set, processor logic, addressing modes, etc. It's also a complete primer for 65-2 and 65C02 programming as well, if that's what you're attempting to do. It meets the needs of a design and/or software engineer very nicely indeed.

Great book for W65C816S and W65C802 with a little for the wd65c02
W65C816S programming manual and for the 40pin W65C802 with a little for the wd65c02. Written in 1986 but there is nothing better. WDC used to give this out for free when you bought their products.

Must-have book for 65x programming
I wore this book out thoroughly when I programmed for my Apple IIgs and Apple IIc. It has all of the codes for the entire series (including 6502, 65802, 65816) and explains which is covered by which. It describes each op-code in detail, and in order. It makes an excellent reference, and should be on every 65x programmer's shelf. It will get a lot of use...

Too confusing to read
This book should have focused on one processor only. Switching from one processor to the next always left me wondering whether they were still talking about one processor or all or two. Who knows. This book will not teach you how to code the 6502 very well. May be useful for those interested in the architecture.

A must have for 6502 family developers
The venerable Rodney Zaks book "Programming the 6502", my copy dates from 1978, only deals with the original NMOS version of the processor. "Programming the 65816" takes the same framework as the original and expands it to the entire modern family of 8 and 16-bit processors which are being produced by Western Design Center Inc and are still available for renovating old machines or creating new, retro designs. The book touches on hardware but is mainly focussed on the software interface to the processors and their inherent differences. At 607 pages, this is a comprehensive book and a must for anyone writing assembly code for a 65xx. I knocked a review point off because the reproduction of the text on the page is not the highest quality - as if it were scanned at some point. It's still a good bedtime read though. If you need this and like to work with a book open beside you - buy it.

Back to the future !
Développeur de profession et fan de la Super Nintendo depuis sa sortie dans les années 90, j'apprends à programmer sur cette console et ce livre est génial pour ça. Très didactique, très dense, beaucoup d'exemples... Cependant c'est la réédition d'un livre des années 80~90, alors oui c'est un peu daté, la typo n'est pas top (on dirait une photocopie, de bonne qualité mais une photocopie quand même) et le style graphique de la mise en page est celui de l'époque, les tableaux ne sont pas ce qu'il y a de plus lisibles, mais c'était comme ça qu'étaient écrits les livres techniques avant. Ils étaient beaucoup moins accessible qu'aujourd'hui mais le contenu reste très bien et c'est probablement le meilleur livre jamais écrit sur ce processeur. Et puis, quand on veut programmer sur un processeur ancien, tournant sur une console ancienne, en utilisant d'anciennes techniques de programmation, c'est finalement assez normal d'avoir un bouquin à l'ancienne aussi non ? Comme ça tout est raccord et tout est rétro :) Grâce à ce livre je me replonge avec plaisir dans l'assembleur tel que je l'ai appris à l'école d'Ingé et je redécouvre la Super Nintendo et son processeur dans les même conditions (presque) que les programmeur de l'époque. J'étais fan de retrogaming, me voila fan de rétro-programmation !

Technically detailed and well structured
Very nice book to understand the 6502 architecture and detail, and how to go about programming it in assembly.

flojo contenido y muy mala reprografía
no recomiendo compra. Parece un corta pega de los manuales técnicos. Ni más ejemplos ni más explicaciones que en éstos. La reprografía es tan mala que se pierde la info en muchas figuras y hay que recurrir al pdf pirata que anda por ahí.
