Training Guide Administering Windows Server 2012 R2 (MCSA) (Microsoft Press Training Guide)

Love these training guides written by Microsoft for getting ready to take MSCA exam. Easy to understand and work through the book. Would definitely buy the Exam Ref Book with it also. Helps narrow down the subjects that are on the exam and point out important topics that will be covered.

While this book does not prepare you for the full intricacies of the Microsoft 70-411 Exam (I don't think any one book does), it provides a good road map that students will be looking for. The instructions and screenshots for the labs are good and course objectives are well covered. In combination with TechNet, practice tests and maybe the Exam Ref version, I believe that this book is a good guide in preparing you for the exam. Aside from preparation for the exam itself, this book is a great, easy-to-follow reference book to own.

Considering Microsoft is the one that develops their exams and their exam questions come right out of their Exam Ref's, there's no real other choice. The Microsoft Training Guide's and Exam Ref's should be your go-to guide to everything Microsoft.

Took a while to receive but pleased

This book doesn't teach you much. It gives a very high level overview of topics but doesn't cover everything needed to pass the exam. It frequently tells you to visit Microsoft websites to learn more about topics, so do yourself a favor and go directly to those sources rather than buy this book. This book was just about useless for the exam.

Pxe boot not working, didn't arrive at time

I used the official Windows 2012 book but found this one to be much better. If you are planning on becoming a Sys Admin, this is the book you want.

I only read a small part of the book and I like it, it helps provide some hands on experience which is great.

Also, ich weiß nicht, was sich der Verlag dabei gedacht hat aber es gab wohl niemand anderes, der zum Thema ein Buch schreiben konnte. Also musste ein Dauerschreiber her, der lieber zig Bücher auflegt, als sich mit der Technologie zu beschäftigen. Aber mal der Reihe nach, ich zitiere aus der Kurzbeschreibung und setze dazu immer meine Kommentare: "Fully updated for Windows Server 2012 R2!" -> Ja die Bildschirmmasken scheinen alle von der R2-Version zu sein. "Designed to help enterprise administrators develop real-world, job-role-specific skills - this Training Guide focuses on core infrastructure administration for Windows Server 2012 R2." -> Also, wer seine real-world job skills darin sieht blöd in der Gegend rumzuklicken, der wird mit diesem Buch glücklich, wer aber einen Server in Zeiten von DSC sinnvoll administrieren will, der wird Powershell benutzen wollen. Sporadisch tauchen zwar Powershellverweise auf, aber nur seltenst werden konkrete Schritte mittels Powershell durchgeführt. Build hands-on expertise through a series of lessons, exercises, and suggested practices - and help maximize your performance on the job. Performance im Job ohne Powershell? Wie soll das gehen? Und so weiter und so fort... Ich weiß nicht wie aktuell die Prüfung zur 70-411 Zertifizierung aussieht aber ich möchte behaupten: Ohne Powershell geht es nicht. Muss man sich jetzt ein separates Buch dafür kaufen? Ich hätte mir gewünscht, dass dieses Buch beides beschreibt. Die Masken mit klick klick und dazu die passenden Powershell Kommandos und zwar ausführlich und nicht nur hin und wieder kurz nur den Cmdlet-Namen. Schade, hätte ein super Buch werden können, so aber nicht. Vielleicht kommt ja auch meine Enttäuschung durch, weil eben zu einem ähnlichen Thema ein viel besseres Buch vom selben Verlag erschienen ist: http://www.amazon.de/Training-Guide-Installing-Configuring-Windows/dp/0735684332/. Dort ist die perfekte Mischung aus Beschreibung, Masken und vor allem Powershell.

Este libro cubre de manera práctica el temario del examen 70-411, pero no produndiza demasiado en las tareas de administración de Windows Server y la verdad es que se queda un poco corto. De todas maneras está bien para una toma de contacto siempre y cuando amplies información con la technet o haciendo laboratorios por tu cuenta. Despúes de leer unos cuantos libros de este estilo, he llegado a la conclusion que lo mejor es aprender montando laboratorios y estos libros en lo que ayudan es para recordar pequeños detalles que de otra forma pasarían inadvertidos de cara al examen.
