A WEIRD AND CRAZY MOVIE EXPERIENCE
The last time I watched this 1997 mad-cap movie was indeed a good 20 years ago. A futuristic comedy starring Bruce Willis as Korben Dallas a taxi driver in the 23rd Century who gets accidentally involved in a race to save Earth when Leeloo (Milla Jovovich) who has been created by scientists from the remains of 'The Fifth Element' drops in on his cab whilst trying to escape the science lab. An evil force headed by Zorg (Gary Oldman) (playing a baddie as is often the case) is trying to get his hands on the power of the four ancient stones used by ancient visitors down the centuries to protect Earth. Dallas has to help find the stones with the help of Leeloo and Father Vito Cornelius (Ian Holm) who has a basic knowledge of the stones and their power, Can Earth be saved? A weird and wonderful movie that has many a larger than life and colourful character in the plot coupled with an array of outrageous costumes, along with plenty of good visual-effects. The 4k upgrade and sound quality are indeed first-class.

One of the best 4K UHD disks to own
This is a reference and demo level disk. Picture quality is very rich, colour pops from screen and is very razor sharp. Atmos is also great - all channels working to create very involving experience. One of the absolutely stunning 4K releases, a must own especially if you enjoy this 1997 classic.

If you know this film, then you know just how good it is, now in 4K, it’s even better. Set in the future, Corbin Dallas (Bruce Willis) is a retired veteran who now drives a cab in Future New York. Unbeknownst to him, he is about to ally with a supreme being known as the Fifth Element (Milla Jojovich) that is responsible for the protection of Earth, alongside Vitto Cornelius (the late Sir Ian Holm) and David (Charlie Creed Miles) must race to find the four stones needed to save life, the four elements that go around the Fifth Element. However, easier said than done, trying to prevent the Earth from being protected, is Zorg (Gary Oldman) a shady corporate man who wants to help the Evil that wants to annihilate Earth. Other performances from Chris Tucker. Lee Evans, Tom Lister Jr, and Briton James with a Cameo from the late Luke Perry make for a terrific movie. More than that, With legendary Director Luc Besson (Leon) makes this film a worthwhile watch

Superior in every way to the previous 4K release!
Having owned the previous 4K release, I really wasn't impressed: the image looked as though it had been badly upscaled - turning the grain in the picture into distracting noise which arguably hid any additional detail that 4K should have brought rather than enhanced it. Then there was the dreadful, tinny 7.1 soundtrack which was so poorly mixed that it made centre channel audio (such as voices) inaudible in places... it made an otherwise great movie a thoroughly unenjoyable experience. This release, on the other hand, has been done properly! The picture is sharp, but still includes grain that isn't distracting, and brings out details that you didn't notice before. The colours pop brightly, creating a stunning new visual pallet that is still faithful to the cinematic presentation, only enhanced. The new Atmos soundtrack has cleared up the centre channel and ditched the tinny distortions that haunted the previous release, bringing with it deep, meaty basses that really make action sequences enjoyable. Bravo!

Wow!
I absolutely lobed this film as a child amd have not seen it since recently after buying this 4k copy. On a large 4k hdr screen with a good sound bar I felt like I was back in the cinema all those years ago. The picture quality if by far the best I have seen for an old film brought to 4k (some minor bits just didn't work but il let that pass) but all in all probably one of the best most under rated films ever made.

Really good 4k transfer
Studiocanal did a really good job on this 4k transfer! The S ony 20th anniversary is horrible, avoid it! But definitely look for the studiocanal version still has grain but a very acceptable amount.

*Eye Popping* version of The Fifth Element
GET THIS ONE! The Studio Canal version. Need a Region Free Player. I read several different reviews on DVD/BluRay/4k sites for THE FIFTH ELEMENT. THIS is the version to get with the best master from the source film/material and now with ATMOS sound. And the colors and saturation will knock your socks off. I viewed this movie using a LG OLED TV C1 model and a SONOS home theater setup. This movie has become a favorite! BE AWARE: You will need a REGION FREE PLAYER to play this particular disc in the USA.
