SteelSeries The Sims 4 On-Ear Gaming Headset

These headphones are gorgeous. The light is brighter than I'd expected, and for some reason I thought the microphone would be a long stick with a pad at the end like the old ones. This one is just a tiny hole on the side that's out of the way. The quick mic mute button is a small button on the side of the headphones that looks good and is a huge plus. The audio quality is crisp and clear. I have very poor hearing from an accident early on in my life, so this is a massive plus. I had to go into my settings and change it to DVD quality instead of CD quality which it was on by default for some reason - which produced a sort of staticy clarity that I didn't like. I tested the mic with ECHO and a friend, and they say it sounds VERY clear and better than my previous headphones. I'm a little concerned about the fact it connects with USB rather than the usual headphone jack and I wonder if there's an adapter available to do that. I have a lot of speakers and such that I would need to plug these into that don't have a USB option - only headphone jack. That's why I've not tried these headphones with anything such as my iphone, htc one, etc. It connects by USB. It would have been awesome to be able to go out with these on. The colors are very bright as I'd mentioned before. I thought I should also mention that they do change in color according to the Sims 4 or even other games as advertised, but you need to download the software from the Steelseries site. You can also set your own color or for it to change through various ones, but light ones seem to have a dull sort of addition of whitegreen to them. I was unable to get a pure light yellow with the hue setter. It looks more ...whiteish blue or green. However, if you stick to the upper right corner of the hue setter - it does produce a pure, good yellow and other colors. It just seems to have difficulty with lighter and darker versions of some of them. As a side note, it can produce a pretty nice light blue. As for comfort, I frequently have issues with headphones cutting off the blood circulation to my ears which is an extra concern because of my poor hearing. I'm unable to tell you how they do when I fall asleep on them or anything like that (which you probably shouldn't/don't personally do), but theyre very comfortable on my head. The pillow / plush area on the underside of the top of the headphones feels good, too. They can fit my gigantic alien head, so they'll certainly fit yours pretty nicely. As far as durability, I couldn't tell you. They have that plastic-ish feel of USB cords and ...other headphones. I don't know how to describe that. They are very flexible, though and the sides extend/adjust with clicks that make you feel like they'll definitely withstand being adjusted frequently. If they break, I'll let you know, but I feel pretty confident in them withstanding a lot of torture and use. All in all, I'm extremely happy with these headphones. I'm glad I didn't wait!

Pro: They do really have good sound, and they don't even need that loud of volume to hear stuff, at 50% they scared me upon first use. I never got to use them for Sims 4 since my hard drive just failed days shortly after getting them, what luck. So I can't say if they work color wise yet, but they are of good quality for the price for sure! I was expecting some flimsy plastic that most head phones are made of but not these. The wire seem tough too which is always what fails with my head phones, I'm very clumsy so I pull and drop my head phones A LOT. Con: I do too have the issue of them not connecting to the right speakers though. I had to set up my default sound several times every time they're plugged in. And configure them too. It takes several tries to finally get them to work without speakers being on too. I'm not sure if it is diver related or what, again couldn't full try them out at full potential. Once I get my new hard drive I plan on trying these out on my Sims 4. The excitement is killing me!

These on-ear headphones are exactly what I was expecting. I love the clean design of the white with (optional) colored plumbobs. In order to customize the color, you do need to download Engine 3 from the Steel Series website, but once you have that you can make them all the pretty colors in the world. AND in-game, they match your Sim's mood color. These also have very good sound quality. I'm no sound expert, and I don't have a lot of experience with fancy-shmancy headphones, but in-game and listening to music/videos on my computer, I can hear everything very well. I don't really use the microphone for much, so I can't say how well that works, but it has a nice low-profile design and an easy mute button. My last comment on these headphones is how COMFY these are. I have an older pair of Steel Series USB headphones, and they are much heavier. After I take them off, my ears throb a bit, and I have a fairly small head. I'm not going to lie, after 4 or 5 hours straight of wearing these Sims 4 Headphones, my ears hurt a bit. But these are so light, and the ear padding is so comfortable that majority of the time, they are barely noticeable on my ears.

Updated 10/17/16: I've downgraded my review for the fact that I just found out recently that the microphone doesn't work and never has. I wanted to use the microphone for a YouTube video using OBS desktop recording software and it was a no go due to the faulty microphone. My desktop computer couldn't pick it up at all. It probably wouldn't have been good quality anyway. I'm a huge Sims fan so I bought this headset as a replacement for my Dell High Performance headsets that you can also use with the SteelSeries engine. I usually prefer headsets that cover my entire ear because they're much more comfortable but these were a pleasant surprise. They don't cover my entire ear but they are very comfortable. I love the fact that the Plumbob changes color to reflect your Sim's emotions in the game. These headsets aren't noise canceling for me but they do sound great. I plan on testing the microphone with a Let's Play for YouTube so I'll update this review once I have that completed.

These are the best headphones. I've owned an unbelievable amount of headphones, expensive and cheap, and for their price, they have the same quality as beats by dr dre, which typically go for around $200+. The padding is nice and soft, the headphones are adjustable, and the sound is very, very nice. The plug in is not for a headphone jack, it is a USB. So you aren't able to also use these to listen to music on an iPhone or iPod (smartphones in general), it still provides exceptional PC and console sound.

Doesn't turn on well & too small.

Amazing quality sound, never cuts out. Crisp loud speakers, comfortable and also the microphone isn't obnoxious and in the way, very crisp and loud clear quality microphone. You can download the free software from the website and change how and what colors you want the headset to go when not playing in game. Adjustable to your head size too. Easy easy to install.

I ordered two of these to make sure one wasn't defective. My first one had a very poor quality microphone and the left ear cup was loose. I also could not for the life of me get the color shift to work. Perpetually stuck in green, I guess. (I'm returning it.) The second one was better, less noise from the microphone, but the mute button doesn't work on this one. I still can't get the color-shift program to work which leads me to believe that it's probably a driver issue and not an issue with the headset. Although, I've read that other people also had trouble getting their headset to be a custom color. It does work and changes colors when I play The Sims 4 which is really cute, but it doesn't work outside of the sims 4 like it says it should. EDIT: After less than one day of use, this headset's right ear cup sound no longer works. I'll be returning it as well. This is awful. What are the odds? As for the headset itself, it's decent for the price, I guess. I'm a Sims fan and I love how cute and gimmicky it is. It's very light and comfortable, if you only want to use it as headphones and don't care about using it as an actual headset, it should work for you, no problem. I have an industrial piercing on my right ear and it doesn't put too much pressure / or hurt and I've been wearing this for a few hours now. I'll have to keep playing around with this thing until I get the drivers to function properly however. Go for it if you'e a sims fan :) If anyone knows how to properly configure the colors to change outside of sims, leave a comment. EDIT #2: Ordered a third pair, figured I was just unlucky. I really do like these headphones. But nope. Right side ear sound dead AGAIN. The color shift software was updated on the steelseries website as of 9/19/2014 and it works now. But it is UNACCEPTABLE that out of the THREE pairs I have ordered, all THREE are in some way damaged. The production quality of this batch is TERRIBLE. Just... save yourself the trouble. What a huge headache. Should have just stopped at 2.

Awesome headset worth₹350 ..Software is available to change light colors and intensity. Mic is not that great but yeah does the job. The other end of headset is of USB type, wire build quality is strong and durable. Voice is perfect for this range of price, cushion is great as well. Once changed it will remember the settings for the next boot. This is a great... (2nd review after few months used this product ) after few months later now I wrote this review.. this is a good one at just ₹350/- but after 30 minutes of use it feels painful in your ear and your ear 👂 become too hot .. after few hours later you feel headaches.. this is good deal but not not a good one for long time used ... 1. simple design and light weight 2. mic is located near left ear speaker but can able to record with good quality 3. there is a seperate software for this headset where you can change the lightnings according to your mood 4. sound quality is nice but can cause pain in ears if the volume is too high.
