StarSide New 12 Piece Woodworking Professional Gouges Wood Carving Hand Chisel Tool Set

I use these for modifications to gunstocks and some deep relief carving. For inexpensive chisels these are very nice and I'm having great success with them. They seem to sharpen up well (take the time to sharpen them after you get them, the stock edge sucks) and so far have held their edge well. If you use a mallet, make sure it's a wooden one or light synthetic. A metal hammer will ruin the handles. Also worked well for hand work without a mallet. Good bang for the buck.

I'm no pro, just a hacker in the back yard, but these seem perfectly fine to me, good price. Delivery and packaging all good. Have no problem recommending them. Not a $300 set, but you don't pay $300 either.

If I could put a negative rating, I would. The description is completly false. They wouldn't cut hot butter, far from "razor sharp." They are cheaply assembled with the chisel off center in the handle. The ferrels are loose and some of the chisel edges are actually so bad, you would have to spend more money and time to get the edges right.

Very dull and out of shape cutting edge from out of package. There was a lot of large grind marks on the finish.

its an acceptable set. It has for reasons I don't quite understand, lost some of its fineness regarding sharpness. but it is acceptable.

Good. But with all chisels, sharpen them when you get them. Find a true flat block, flatten with a diamond stone, lock the bevel, and take it down to 8000 grit or higher. You will like what you get.

As I expected, great price! However they are for pretty large carvings... not for detail work or small carvings..
