Great for small hose or occasional use
Works good to cut thin wall hose. Probably not heavy enough for everyday use.

Great tool for industrial work
It cuts great, cheaper then on the tool trucks but unfortunately I have yet to fine more blades. It has lasted in a heavy duty diesel shop for over 2 years and is just starting to get marred

SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT THIS YEARS AGO!
I've been persisting with the traditional hose cutters for years and always hated the way that the play in the handle always causes a crooked cut as does the way they squash the hose during the cut. I finally got sick of it and found these ones. In real life, they're MUCH bigger that they look in the ad photos (about twice as big as I imagined). They're made of plastic but it's a tough, reinforced plastic and doesn't feel at all flimsy or fragile. Actually, it feels chunky and robust in the hand. I'm pretty sure if you dropped it on concrete it wouldn't break. There is absolutely ZERO play in the action because of the way it's designed, meaning the cut is always dead straight. As others have noted though, you have to make sure you hold the hose sitting flat across the bottom jaw, otherwise it may deflect the fang as it comes down. The fact the blade is a fang also means it doesn't squash the hose in the cutting process like the other ones do which causes ridges in the cut I've seen a couple of reviews here that say there's no bump-stop and the point of the blade bottoms out in the female blade receptacle at the end of the cutting stroke. I don't know what makes them think that because the heads of the two jaws come into contact with each other at the end of the stroke thus acting as a bump-stop, leaving a full 7mm clearance between the tip of the blade and the bottom of the cutting receptacle. I also read some people saying their blade wasn't sharp out of the pack. They come in a tamper-proof vac-formed film retail pack and the blade (reversible) on mine is razor sharp and cuts like a hot knife through butter. You will love this tool! My only criticism is that the wire clasp that holds the handles together for storage is WAY too tight and puts undue pressure on pivot point/ axle by 'over-closing' the handles, meaning there's constant high tension on that pivot joint (a metal bolt through a plastic hole). I took my wire clasp off and keep the handles together during storage with a womens elastic hair tie, but an elastic band would do.

Great hose cutter.
Carefull to not let heavy hose pull the tip of the blade off to the side as the tip may dig directly into the oposing jaw just next to the groove. It didn't wreck the blade at all just had to regrip and get the weight of the hose off the blade tip. Cuts well and cuts straight. The blade is reversible.....I used mine for years and never knew that...and the blade was still sharp that I didn't look to replace it. Sold them cuz I got out of heavy repair.....then regretted it and bought these ones. These are identical to my original MAC ones. (which were Lisle ones)

Excellent tool
Buy this. I bought it for $40 CAD, and it's the same thing that Blue-Point sells, from the S-O tool truck. (Their price is $90, before tax.)
