My pumps were difficult to open as well and I'll share my opening technique below. These are worthy of 5 stars if the cap issue gets fixed. They're heavy duty and clear enough it looks like glass. The size is great. I'm using them in bathrooms and the kitchen.Opening - I cleaned mine with soap & hot water beforehand and let the bottles with pump soak in hot soapy water for about 10 mins. Before emptying I gave them a good shake & that seemed to loosen the cap.

The bottle is great, the pump not so great. Just used this for my hand soap in the bathroom but after3 or 4 days, the pump is not working properly, like the spring gave up.
