Is there no way to have it automatically save your songs as you record them?...I keep losing loops I've recorded simply because I turned the knob.

Yo will need to press the 2 setup and memory buttons under the display (write) then press the large knob to the right of the display when prompted to write and execute. Save the loop before changing memory locations or the loop will be gone when you go back to that memory.

Could a record bass and send that to one output (bass amp), then play guitar live and send to the guitar amp?

I tried it, and both signals will pass through to the outputs, but the primary signal (mono) output is to both A and B channels. If I understand what you are asking, yes it does loop both signals, but not sent (true send) as separate outputs. Boss (Roland Corp.) has all the manuals and specs on-line for further review.

Can this unit synch to midi clock from an outside source?

Yes. You can set the Boss pedal to send or receive. (control or be controlled)

At the end of the loop it keeps cutting out for a second. Is that normal?

No. Should just start at top. You have to start the loop (ie stomp on pedal) exactly in sync with start of playing.
