Hi could anyone tell me if people can sit up to the table with a cover on? Would it be comfortable for their legs?

No, this cover suitable for tables that are being used as display tables. You can not sit at this with your legs/feet under the table. You will need one with a cutout for that.

will a 6ft fit a 5 ft tables as some of the craft tables supplied by halls are 5ft

It would fit but it would be baggy. I think you can buy the 5ft ones?

How big are the foot pockets? Will a table with chunky legs/feet fit into the foot pockets? Can it be used on a table with chunky feet?

I would NOT recommend this cover for a table with chunky feet as it will not fit. These covers are for the 6 foot folding/fixed plastic tresses table as shown in the picture. The foot pockets are small.
