Silk Road 1 Audio CD – CD, July 30, 2002

Beautiful, haunting music. A sound to get lost in and enjoy.

This is probably Kitaro's most well know piece and it is one of his best (all his music is so consistently great) Silk Road was my first introduction to Kitaro so it holds a special place. "Flying Celestial Nymphs" is probably my favorite all time Kitaro song. An astonishing song that touches the spirit and soul. To correct what the reviewer from PA said there is NOT a skip or defect on this CD What they are referring to is the end of track 5 "The Great Wall of China" the songs ends very abruptly at seemingly the peak of the song and then it goes immediately into the next track "Flying Celestial Nymphs" This is part of the original concept of Kitaro, it is supposed to end that way and it is how Silk Road was originally first released on album. For some reason the Gramavision CD release which is widely available in the US choose to fade out the ending of the song before the intended ending. This was against Kitaro's wishes. The version of "Great Wall of China" on this release is actually 5-6 seconds longer than the one on the Gramavision release because it now has the full song. So this is definitely the version of Silk Road you want to get. I hope not too many people were dissuaded from getting this because of that review. This is one of the best. Music of life and peace.

You know how you watch a movie and really enjoy the sound track - well this music was used in the PBS special "Silk Road." Kitaro's Silk Road I and Silk Road II are their best. If you like Kitaro you must try these cds. If you've never experienced their unique sound, then you must at least try one of their classic New Age albums. Of all their music, these recordings are still their best by far.

This CD is by far my favorite. I listen to it at bedtime and it puts me to sleep.

I was looking for this. It is in very good condition and there is only tiny crack on the case probably during the shipping but inside CD is fine and plays no problem.

does not sound at all like the original that I had, and played to death. this was a bad choice for me, but I will keep looking. I need to read more carefully to make sure I don't order a remake.

Kitaro is a master at creating vast images with music. Silk Road was the first album by Kitaro I was exposed to. It changed my life and opened me to a new way to see the World. Whenever I hear the title song or its refrain, I'm sent to very beautiful place.

I have to say I love this CD, but there is a pickle in the scoop of vanilla ice cream: What the blazes happened to band five? You've got two minutes and about five seconds of a very beautiful piece, and then WHAM! You're immediately cut off and thrown into band six. As they would have said in Brooklyn, "Whahoppen??" I noticed that on the schedule of music that this was allowed for, but why? Kitaro's work is absolutely delightful, so why was this piece butchered?Other than that annoyance, the CD is beautiful. I love to just lay back and let the tonality sweep over me like a soft, gentle wave. It is a truly relaxing work and well worth getting... except for that butchered track, which is why I only gave it four stars.

Ich verbinde mit Kitaros Silk Road wunderschöne private Erinnerungen! Umso mehr freut es mic, diese Musik jetzt auch auf Vinyl besitzen zu können - bis jetzt habe ich Silk Road noch auf MC Bandkassette gehört, oder eben gestreamt. Die Aufnahmequalität und Pressung ist sehr gut, ein echter Hörgenuß - für Leute, die es esoterisch-meditativ und tiefenenspannt mögen. Musik zum traumen. Klasse!

With many reviews of this album there is little left to add. The music is iconic and formed the theme and background score to the hugely acclaimed TV series The Silk Road, jointly produced by NHK Japan and CCTV China. Even now, several decades after the program was aired on TV, I cannot think of China without remembering this music. Haunting and magical it is a brilliant collection.
