DEWALT Masonry Drill Bit Set, Percussion, 4-Piece (DW5204)

Ordered May 2013. Made in Germany, very good quality. I needed to drill 12 total 3/8" holes in my paving stones to anchor a gazebo. Started with the smallest bit and worked up to the biggest. Went way smoother and faster than I expected. I ordered two sets just in case but did not even open the second set. The last hole went just as smooth as the first so I would expect a good life time for the difficult application. I used a super cheapo Harbour Freight rotohammer to the tune of $35 because it would cost the same to rent one and now I have one in the tool chest for applications like this. I do not do stuff like this enough to justify buying a heavy duty quality rotohammer. These bits worked great but I do not think I would get the same results if I was using my regular non hammer drill.

Purchased these bits for installation of some new lights outside my house. They performed as expected and I highly recommend them for use on a brick wall or a concrete surface when you need a drill bit to install something. The bit size worked great with the inserts for the screws. These bits did not break like others have in the past and I’m sold on their durability

It's like I had been living in a cave before using this. They went through my concrete wall like (relatively) nothing. I could feel the bit murdering the concrete into a dusty gravel, even when it came across the hardest sections where it would otherwise have seemed stuck. I had no idea my humble drill was capable of taking down concrete. And I had no idea how much specified drill bits can make the difference. I'm 20 years old and I'm very new to this world. But after trying this, I'm massively excited to start collecting all sorts of bits and discover what else there is out there. Regarding Quality: These things feel like no other regular bits. The metal used is much stronger, and you can tell right out of the box just by the interesting finish. Holding this tool in your hand really merits some respect. It feels strong and characteristic like a bullet. The spirals have a special recognizable pattern and the metal gives off its own characteristic smell. And they're a little yellow-ish. Telling these apart in a large toolkit will be a snap.

Installing a new patio in my backyard and had 3 concrete slabs to remove. They were far too heavy and thick to pick up in one piece Enter this concrete chisel. Technique used: 1) Drill pilot holes into concrete as deep as I could with the drill bits and a cordless dewalt hammer drill 2) Used Chisel (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000NIBFT4/ref=cm_cr_mts_prod_img) and a sledge hammer to then break off pieces of concrete 3) used angle grinder to cut through the rebar The only hammer drill I had was a cordless Dewalt. i was concerned when purchasing these that the cordless drill would not be able to provide enough omph, but I was totally wrong. The concrete was a mix of stone and concrete. Two of the concrete pieces had rebar inside. These drill bits chomped through the concrete easily and showed no sign of giving up. Several times I had to stop work and let the drill bits cool down as there was smoke coming from the holes, but after a couple of minutes they were ready to go again. Another great dewalt product. All in all, great product for a great price. See pictures attached

I've only used the 5/16" bit so far, but it's gone through a bunch of holes in cement block like a champ. I'm expecting similarly excellent results from all the bits whether the holes need to be put through block, brick or concrete. The fit and finish is very good, with high-quality brazing holding the carbide inserts in place, and the pointed tip of the inserts work well when starting the hole. The bits are straight enough that I don't see anything problematic by eye during rotation in my cordless hammer drill, though the hammer drill does have a pretty good chuck in terms of runout. Oh, and the best part? The 5/16" bit was able to easily ream out multiple holes in 1/4" mild steel plate (the holes were probably around 0.310" or so) before shooting through the masonry behind the plate. No issues, and gave me a perfect fit for my brackets. Also, they're made in Germany, which helps.

I used the brill bit with my normal electric brill and they worked amazing. Drilled 10 holes to hang a TV in concrete real fast. Excellent quality and product

Purchased this item to drill through bathroom tile with a standard power drill (standard chuck, no hammer/percussion), and I'm very satisfied. Left clean, circular holes, and pilot stays in place while drilling. No bit slippage, even in a standard chuck. The "no slip" technology consists in a bit that has flat faces at the base, rather than being completely round. I've started the hole by using the drill bit as I would a punch tool (this might be frowned upon), tapping very gently with the upper section of a hammer, just to get through the initial tile glaze. I then powered through the layers once I reached the back "gritty part". My power drill only has a standard chuck and is just a regular rotary drill (no hammer/percussion). The non-slip design works well in a regular chuck. The bit shows very little sign of fatigue, after a half-dozen holes. Amateur videos on youtube claim that these trademarked "ROCK Carbide" bits have more carbide than regular carbon steel "dipped" bits, because of a new welding/melting process -- and consequently can last longer than typical carbide bits. But I'm not a blacksmith nor do I have the lab to confirm. Hopefully it's true. I've also tested some pilot holes in construction grade wood (2x4), and they work fine there too (clean holes), although slower than your usual wood bit.
