BUY THIS ONE!!!! I love this compressor, I have been a airbrush artist for 20+ years, and i recommend this to friends all the time! The Smart-jet series compressor from Iwata is the Best! Its Quiet, my toothbrush is louder. It is small, reliable, and quality made. I recommend this for anyone from Hobbyist to Professional! Pros... Quality Compact Quiet Reliable Auto-shutoff Comes with hoses and regulator long lasting Cons... None!(Price could be cheaper but this is a 1 time buy and it is worth every penny) I used many compressors over the years, non stand up to the quality of this one! BTW... I was not payed to review this nor did i get any benefit from it! when I find a Product worth reviewing i review it.

Got this for my son, who had purchased an Iwata-Medea Studio Series Ninja Jet Single Piston Air Compressor at craft store and wanted something with more power, pressure and consistency for modeling. He was somewhat disappointed that it did not come with the pictured airbrush, as he was looking forward to having a spare. So - to be clear until they change the photo - THIS COMPRESSOR DOES NOT COME WITH THE PICTURED AIRBRUSH. I wondered how they could possibly package this with an airbrush for the price which was about $5 more than the same model offered which didn't have Amazon's Prime benefits, or an airbrush pictured. So, it seems we paid a little extra for Prime, which I do not begrudge. That reflects the seller's photo availability, not the product and how it works. The instructions are not crystal clear for a novice. Someone else on here has a great review and mentions some setup clarifications which are beneficial. Still, this small disadvantage is not a reflection of how this compressor works. Bottom Line: It works and does exactly what it says it will do. My 23 y/o son loves it and put it to use right away and has spent quite a few happy hours already with it. It is relatively quiet and is an all-around great machine. My husband is pretty jealous. :) The vendor I purchased it from is a very, very prompt shipper.

I saw this air compressor at the Iwata booth during the 2010 Trainfest in Milwaukee and was immediately smitten with its quiet operation. This is my first airbrush compressor purchase, having avoided them in the past due to noise and vibration. I am using it with Badger Patriot 105 and a Binks Wren airbrushes. At home I can operate this compressor inside without disturbing the rest of the household occupants. However, quiet comes at a price of limited air volume; the specs show ~0.64 cu ft per minute. This is sufficient for most usage, but if you need high volume for very fine paint atomization, you may be wanting. For this reason I also purchased a Badger Cyclone which provides almost three times the air volume, but is slightly louder and exhibits much more vibration. [...] had the Cyclone for $95; a price I couldn't resist. Some things to know: 1. The Iwata Smart Jet comes with two hoses, but the coiled hose is to connect from the compressor outlet to the gauge/dryer inlet. The coiled hose provides some air accumulation and filters out the pulses from the compressor. The second, straight hose connects the dryer outlet to your airbrush. The dryer outlet is a standard 1/4" pipe thread but doesn't seem to be tapered. See item 4 below. 2. Iwata hose-end products all use the standard 1/8" air connections. Included with the Smart Jet are three adapters to connect to Badger, Paasche and Aztek airbrushes. BTW, the Paasche adapter fits my Binks Wren. 3. The compressor starts and stops instantly and does not "walk" during operation, startup or shutdown. 4. Iwata hoses and fittings all use O-rings. This means all fittings seal finger tight. But if you connect to non-Iwata products that expect tapered pipe thread connection you'll employ quite a few wraps of teflon tape to get a good seal. I discovered this when connecting a Home-Depot standard quick disconnect to the 1/4" compressor output. I use the Smart Jet for the bulk of airbrush work, using the Cyclone only when I need the extra volume. To facilitate easy compressor and airbrush changeout, I utilize 1/4" quick disconnects at the compressor end of all my hoses, and Iwata 1/8" quick disconnects at the airbrush end. Bottom line is if you want a quiet, compact compressor for airbrushing, get this unit.

This compressor is perfect for someone who is new to airbrushing and doesn't need to work with a lot of pressure. Mine usually starts at about 35 psi, but my working pressure with the airbrush trigger down is 20 - 24 psi. This compressor is pretty quiet when it kicks on, and has an auto shut-off when it hits above 30psi (IIRC). It is very light weight, and easy to take with you. One thing people may notice though, that isn't too big of a deal is that there is no regulator with this compressor. I say its not a huge deal because you could open the bleeder valve if you wanted to continually work with a lower psi, below the working pressure, but if you needed to work a little higher. It wouldn't be hard to buy a regulator and fittings to connect one to this setup, or a tank for that matter. Overall great compressor, and its my go-to for when I want to do some airbrushing outside my home. I would recommend!

Great compressor. Bought as "Used" but had NEVER been used. So glad I bought it. Has made a huge difference in my airbrushing with the power and the consistency. Fast shipping. Better than advertised. Offered at a ridiculously low price about 1/3 of the retail price. This compressor is highly recommended. Same for the seller. Thank you. GS

Pros: The motor runs smoothly and is relatively quietly this is largely negated by the fact that you will be constantly hearing a hiss from the bleeder valve if you are using this at anything less than 50 PSI. Cons: The only difference between the "Smart" and the "Sprint" is that the Smart Jet has auto shutoff. This is pointless when you consider that they don't supply you with a regulator, but a bleeder valve. Using a bleeder valve will mean that if you lower the PSI from 50, the pump will constantly run anyway. My first thought was to just add a diaphragm regulator. Well the Iwata brand is 90 dollars and if you go with any other brand, you will be playing with plumbing. Second thought was, well maybe I can add a tank. Again this is going to cost 100 to 200 dollars when you already paid 270 at the time of posting this. After exhausting these options, I decided to return it and go with a Badger Aspire. This came with a tank AND a regulator for about 100 dollars less. It also runs just as quietly. I'm not really sure what the point of this smart jet series is, especially for the cost.

We purchased this small compressor, which is originally intended for graphic designer, as an air assist for our laser cutting machine. Most smaller laser machine require air to extinguish potential flame out during laser beam cutting the material. We decided instead of tapping onto a large shop air compressor to use this small unit that we located right there next to the machine. As the laser machine cuts, the compressor is on and can stay on for extended periods of time (over an hour solid). The unit has been performing perfectly during the long cutting sessions and we expect it to last a very long time. The Iwata has our stamp of approval. Belmeade Signs
