The foundations of Practical Amateur Astronomy, Condensed
Those who have any experience with amateur astronomy have doubtless heard of Sir Patrick Moore. This is his classic introductory book on the subject. Yes it is a little dated, but it nevertheless is a useful springboard into the hobby. There are other, more recent additions to what has become one of the largest amateur astronomy reference series in publication, some written by Moore himself, some by others. If you are interested in amateur astronomy at all, you will certainly want to browse this series. It begins with this book.
