Ugly Love: A Novel

I couldn't put this book down! From the very first chapter, I was completely invested in the characters and found myself wanting to know what would happen next. The story is emotional, beautifully written, and had me feeling everything from happiness to heartbreak.The characters felt real and flawed, and their journey kept me turning the pages late into the night. It's one of those books that stays with you long after you finish it.If you enjoy emotional romance with plenty of depth and unforgettable characters, this is definitely a must-read. Just be prepared to have your emotions put through the wringer—in the best way!

There was no way to protect my heart from the destruction that I knew was coming, there was no possible way to read this without letting him seep into you completely. He wasn’t supposed to give you hope for more, but he gave it to you every time he opened his mouth.This was a different type of CoHo read for me, but I have to say I loved every second of it. The dual POV were so starkly different. With Tate you got the present, in a normal narration kind of way and with Miles you got his past. Six years ago, the story that led him to where he was today... And it was poetic, beautiful and absolutely haunting.With a title like Ugly Love, you expect that you won’t escape this read without shedding tears and although you assume bits and pieces of Mile’s past – nothing is going to prepare you for the reality of it. That moment. It was soul crushing. It’s been a little over 24 hours since I finished and just thinking about it has me in tears all over again.About the Miles POV chapters. I loved these. I loved that they were written this way. It was beautiful, it was innocent and it kept me from falling in love with a different love story, one that had its own place, but wasn’t the one that we were supposed to fall in love with.And Cap. An eighty year old man nearly stole the show.Colleen Hoover did not disappoint with this story. I have loved every single book she has written but Ugly Love holds a special place in my heart. I can’t say that it is my favorite, because honestly, all of them are my favorite, but this one is just stood out in its own way and this story is one that will stay with me for years to come.

The story and characters are good, she knows how to write a book, the ending is just expected. I mean most books are like that but we didn’t get much twists and turns on this one.It’s still a good read, and the story is incredible sad. The pain is definitely felt through words.

UglyLoveWasTragicUglyBeautiful.Before starting my journey with Ugly Love, I must admit, I was absolutely terrified. Terrified because, based on the reviews and teasers I had already read, I knew this book would probably rip my heart out and give it back to me in pieces. My fear was justified after reading Ugly Love because my heart was indeed ripped apart, overflowed with emotion, and handed back to me as an emotionally tired and aching mess.When writing a book review, the book you are writing the review on should be on your mind, that’s not a bad thing, but Ugly Love has infiltrated my mind so completely that it’s almost distracting. I don’t even know what to write about or where to start because I just keep on thinking about the story, the characters, the conflict, the writing, the ugliness and beauty that is Ugly Love.What I love about Colleen Hoover’s writing is that she leaves no emotion untouched and you feel every single word, paragraph, and page. Ugly Love was no exception. I felt everything from hate to love, and lust to absolute agony.Ugly Love placed a huge weight on my heart and soul, which I felt, and still feel, in every fiber of my being. It’s only been an hour since I finished reading it and I’m already contemplating a re-read. THAT is how amazing this novel was.Ugly Love is rough and gentle, tempestuous and calm. Ugly Love is like that time you went to the beach when you were younger and dived into a wave, but the wave is rougher than you thought it would be, so you get caught in it. By the time you get out of the wave your hearts pumping like you just ran a marathon, and you don’t know whether you just had the greatest thrill of a lifetime or the greatest heart attack.Miles Archer. Miles Archer broke my heart and put it back together. His story was devastating and tragic and reading it was like a shot to the heart. Miles is a mystery that you are just dying to unravel and he is definitely book boyfriend material. I found Miles Archer’s character to be almost a combination of Will Cooper (Slammed series) and Dean Holder (Hopeless series). His chapters showed us a sweet and poetic side, much like Will, and he also had a mysterious, sensual side that just screamed Holder.“Don’t ask about my past,” he says firmly. “And never expect a future.”Tate Collins didn’t hold anything back. She had no filter and I loved every second of it. My heart felt every emotion alongside Tate and oh did she have to go through some heart-wrenching moments. Falling for a guy like Miles Archer is no easy thing to go through, but I honestly think she handled every moment and situation as best as she could.“I’m not Tate when I’m near Miles. I’m liquid, and liquid doesn’t know how to be firm or stand up for itself. Liquid flows. That’s all I want to do with Miles. Flow.”These characters were flawed. They were not perfect, and to me, imperfect characters create for a perfect story.I could go on and on about how much I adored this novel and describe in detail why and what scenes I loved, but this is one of those stories where going in blind, and head-first is the best approach. Ugly Love will leave you breathless, gasping for air, frustrated beyond belief, and wanting more. Every sentence in this novel had me addicted and captivated.Ugly Love left no emotion untouched. It was intense, emotional, heart-wrenching, and also steamy as hell! This is Colleen Hoovers sexiest novel yet, and dare I say…possibly her best? I wouldn’t want to make Will or Holder jealous so I’ll keep that opinion to myself. ;)Ugly Love was one of my most anticipated novels for year and it is another 6 STAR, MUST READ by Colleen Hoover!! It’s one of those books I wish I could undo from reading just so I can read it and experience it again for the first time. Ugly Love will have you shedding tears and flying in love.

It's a beautifully ugly story. Hopeful. Heartbreaking. The tug and pull. I love all characters and the story is very well written. I'll keep this one in my library for some time. I can see myself reading it again.

I have sat on this book and my thoughts now for more than a month. I was fortunate enough to win this book in a "Scavenger Hunt," at Book Bash 2014. I also, waited close to a month to read it. I wanted to make sure I could give all of my attention to Ugly Love, and the characters that evolve in this book. So without further ado, here are my thoughts....Colleen Hoover is the Mastermind of Fictional Literature. She has a way to manipulate your heart, a way to manipulate your mind, and most importantly your mind. Her words shake you to your core, but in the best way possible. She makes you FEEL absolutely everything. It isn't just a reading experience, it is a "Colleen Hoover Experience."Tate and Miles, are a pair of characters that, left me breathless. They are each in their own minds. They are both trying to choose their path in life, without disrupting anything. Basically, they are two people who are Workaholics. Two people are finding their way in life. But they aren't just that, they are passionate about their lines of work. They pour themselves into their work, and their interactions really show this. However, I feel Miles did more than Tate did. He has his reasons, in which we learn throughout this whole novel. It is slowly poured into the pages of who Miles is, and why he is the way he is. Miles is a man of few words, he's hot and cold. He has his head on straight. But he keeps himself guarded; even more guarded than Fort Knox. And Tate is more of any open book, looking to excel in life.Both Tate and Miles are similar, yet different. They want the same end game in life, but they also want more in terms of "comfort." Their comfort is like a rapid blazing inferno, sweeping away everything in its path. It is hot, it is sexy, and it makes me tingly just thinking about it. They have a hot desperate passion, they connect, but they also don't see eye to eye. I liked that they weren't able to see eye to eye though. It helped to develop more of their 'relationship.' It helps define them as characters. By defining, I mean, it helps us as readers to see them better. They each have their own walls, their own issues. But they both battle that inner demon.Colleen didn't write her usual, fluffy, hardly any sexual interactions, in Ugly Love. This book is raw, filled with intense feelings and passion, it is terribly heart-breaking, and extremely sexy. She poured that heat into her words. That heat, is one of those feelings I mentioned above. It is hot. It had me all sorts of discombobulated. Colleen has written her characters, that us readers can connect with. Most of her readers are adults, most readers have or are in these situations that come to light in this book, and most of her readers, including me, love passion. Colleen really outdid herself with this book. I have yet to read one of her books and become unhappy. I honestly feel that with each book, we get more of her. She sheds herself into these characters. It isn't just her heart and soul, it is something bigger than that. Miles and Tate will definitely show you this. They will give you so much. And this so much, will tear you up inside and out.With each book that Ms. Hoover releases, I fall more in love with her. Her writing style, especially in UL, is brilliant. She changes it up a bit with each story she gives us, but it is always that quality that leaves me wanting more. Each of her book possess a semblance of life. Ugly Love is an example of that. A HUGE example of that. Go into this book with your eyes wide open, absorb her words, let it resonate with you, and then slowly dissect the pages in front of you. If I had more then five stars to rate this book I would. It is more than freaking fantastic, it is mind-numbing, blowing, and superior to her other books that are out. This is a book that I will carry in my heart, forever.

She had read it and needed someone to talk about it with. I mean when your friend calls and is so in love with a book she's begging you to read it, you do it. I wasn't disappointed, at all. I've loved all of Colleen Hoover's books, I was expecting the same with this one and it surpassed my expectations.Tate is moving in with her brother Corbin, just until she gets her own place. It perfect really, he's a pilot and is gone a great deal of the time so there isn't a rush on her finding somewhere to live right away. After driving for six hours all she wants to do is get something to eat and go to bed. Just one little problem, well a big problem, a man is passed out leaning against Corbin's door. She calls Corbin and asks him what to do and after some craziness she finds out that the man is Miles, the next door neighbor. She gets him in the apartment and on the couch to sleep it off. She's attracted to him but with her in school and working she doesn't need the distraction. He cries in his sleep and calls out for Rachel.. Yep, doesn't need that whole mess.Miles doesn't let people in. He meets Tate after his night on the couch and he's not sure what's going on. She's beautiful and is making him want things he just won't let himself have. His life is not a normal 24 year olds life. He remember's her rubbing his head while he cried and her telling him everything will be alright. His past haunts him and it has such a powerful hold on him; and he lets it rule him. Starting this thing with Tate was probably the worst idea on the planet but he can't help it, he has to be with her and she agreed to his terms, no asking about his past and no expecting a future. They aren't friends so it won't mess up anything.Slowly Tate sees changes in Miles. She agreed to his rules but she's having a hard time sticking to them because she's starting to feel for him.. Feel more than being his sex buddy. She desperately wants to know about his past but if she even hints at him opening up he shuts her down and shuts her out. Finally at her breaking point she explodes, and then leaves. She doesn't see him and she moves out. Then Miles talks to Cap.. CAP! I loved this guy. He's the doorman of the building and he's become Tate's friend. Cap tells Miles something that finally sinks in.“I know the thought of confronting your past terrifies you. It terrifies every man. But sometimes we don’t do it for ourselves. We do it for the people we love more than ourselves."I know its not much and he said soooooo much more but really to share anymore than that with you would be giving away all the things. You really have to read this book. I couldn't put it down. I inhaled it with in a matter of hours and I texted my friend at all the spots that gave me chills, that made me laugh or want to cry. This book, THIS BOOK! It gives you all the feels. It makes you mad and happy, sad and joyous. You can't take my word for it, read it. Go on. I'll just be sitting here basking in this glorious story. What are you still doing here?!!?? GO READ IT. Then tell me, hell tell everyone what you think. Leave a review for the author. I'll definitely be buying this book for my bookshelf. Couldn’t get that into it. I didn’t really like how Miles pov was 6 years previously majority of the time. But it’s was apart of the story line 🤷🏻‍♀️

Es ist mir ein Bedürfnis an der Stelle zu sagen, dass nicht nur dieses Buch von Colleen Hoover überirdisch gut ist, sondern auch jedes andere, dass sie bisher geschrieben hat !Ich verschlinge ihre Bücher, dass es schon fast unnormal ist und liebe jedes einzelne davon. Jedes Mal wenn ich ein Buch von ihr beendet habe, denke ich "oh, das ist mein neues Lieblingsbuch", dann lese ich das nächste und denke "oh nein, das" :DDie Autorin ist einfach genial und ihre Bücher der Hammer. Ich finden ihre Geschichten haben etwas einzigartiges, weil sie immer unerwartete Wendungen reinbringt, mit denen man einfach nicht rechnet. Und das ist genial, denn es gibt nichts langweiligereres als ein berechenbares Buch, wo man sich das Ende bereits am Anfang ausmalen kann.SpoileralarmAls ich das erste mal zu einem ihrer Bücher griff, dachte ich "ok ein schöner normaler Liebesroman für den Urlaub" (Maybe someday). Doch dann ist plötzlich einer der Hauptprotagonisten taub und die Geschichte verläuft so ganz anders, als das womit ich gerechnet hatte. Man wird auf die Behinderung (und alles was dazugehört) aufmerksam gemacht, ohne dass man beim Lesen das Gefühl hat es wäre eine. Es ist immer noch eine Liebesgeschichte mit ganz großen Gefühlen und das ist H A M M E R !Bei dem nächsten, das ich von ihr gelesen habe ("Hope forever"), dachte ich auch "okay, diesmal ist keiner taub, also eine einfache Liebesgeschichte im einem gutem Schreibstil".Falsch!!! Man weiß zwar von Anfang an da kommt noch etwas und man spekuliert und denkt man wüsste es - aber nein. Man weiß es überhaupt NICHT ! Es fängt zwar wie eine Liebesgeschichte an (und es ist auch eine), aber dann merkt man, dass der Junge ein dunkles Geheimnis hat bis man im Verlauf der Geschichte merkt, dass die Hauptprotagonistin - die auch noch aus der Ich Perspektive erzählt! - diejenige mit dem dunkelten Geheimnis ist. Es wandelt sich von einer Liebesgeschichte, zur Adoption, bis hin zur Enrführung und eines missbrauchten Kindes ist alles dabei. Die ganze Geschichte ist vollkommen logisch und in sich stimmig. Man hat das Gefühl, jedes geschriebene Wort hat einen Grund und macht am Ende doppelt Sinn. Man merkt einfach, dass die Autorin sich wirklich dabei etwas gedacht hat.Ich könnte noch ewig so erzählen, dann komme ich aus dem Schwärmen gar nicht mehr raus :)Der Punkt ist "Ugly Love" ist ein fantastisches Buch einer fantastischen Autorin :) unabhängig zu welchem ihrer Titel ihr als erstes greift, ihr werdet nicht enttäuscht sein 😊

This is my third Colleen Hoover book and my favorite so far! Didn’t think i was gonna love it as much because of the cover and story but MAN was I hooked! It’s got the spice, the tenderness, the romance, the tea, the hurt, the fun. Wow. One I will ALWAYS remember

I loved reading this book, couldn't put it down. As always a very well written book with great understanding of her subject.

Goed en vlot leesbaar boek. Mooi en aangrijpend verhaal!

This book is a sad story that follows a girl named Tate. I cannot say more. Buy it.
