Antibiotics Simplified: 9781284025392: Medicine & Health Science Books @ desertcart.com Review: Easy to understand - Great book which entirely lives up to the title. This book makes learning antibiotics a breeze. Antibiotics are some of the hardest drugs to learn, at least they were for me and I read through this book and felt much more confident going into my pharmacology exam. This book was only recommended for my course and I am glad I bought it and studied it. Easy to read and understand and it wasn't too terribly lengthy. The book is organized based upon classes of antibiotics and then goes into details on the specifics and what each is used to treat. It breaks the treatment into Great for, okay for and not good for so that you can sort of organize them in your head. Overall, great read and I feel that this book is a must have for any pharmacy class that requires and in depth knowledge of antibiotics. Review: Fantastic compilation, great review, and succinct integration of information. - This book was recommended to me by different pharmacists in all walks of life from my community pharmacist, clinical preceptor, pharmacy residents, and other students from other schools. I wish this had been recommended to me when I took Infectious Disease in school. All the information is given just like the title says - Simplified. Even though it's simplified, it's not missing information! Highly recommended. I would've done so much better in on my exams had I had this to review with. I'm definitely going to use this to prepare for my clinical rotations!

Excellent reference!
This is a very useful book that is sorted by class of antibiotic. One thing I really like is its readability. It's simple to read (just as the title implies) and the concepts are easy to grasp. With so many mechanisms of action and so many different antibiotics, it's a nice reference to have besides Sanford. I like having it at my work station to reference susceptibilities and also to refresh myself on the MOA of antibiotics.

Best textbook I've ever had!
Antibiotics Simplified is an amazing reference for my pharmacotherapy class. It lays out the facts and details without rambling. The only problem my classmates and I have with this book is that it is paperback bound and hard to hold open to the right page. Someone in my class got the idea to go to office max to get spiral bound. I HIGHLY recommend you do the same. Only cost me $3.50.

Great review and student/resident resource
The book is exactly as the name implies. While detailed reviews of PK/PD, interactions, and spectra are left out, Antibiotics Simplified focuses on the common clinical key points of each antibiotic class. This includes: mechanism of action, spectra of common pathogens, common/class unique adverse events and clinical pearls. While it won't replace your sanford guide in practice, I highly recommend this book as a review/pocket guide for Pharmacy/Nursing/Medical students and residents.

Great Intro to Infectious Disease
This book covers a great deal of territory very quickly. Dense, but very readable, text with well explained rationales for antibiotic therapies. The rest of the book gives great overviews of individual agents followed by concise, high-yield summary of agents.

Awesome review of antibiotics.
As you know, there can be down time on the wards. Book fits easily into white coat pocket. Answers the questions you want to know: differences between drugs within classes; common and important adverse reactions; when to use one antibiotic over another. Very happy with this book. Thank you Gallagher.

information great usefulness ok kindle POR
I'm understanding antibiotics much better thanks to this book. I have a paperback copy and the kindle version. Problems with the kindle app/ version. 1) The index is useless. Chapter 2 and one letter?? And you can't go to the chapter from the index. Very bad for a wiring reference 2) there is a weird quirk where a number 5 is substituted for an =. Example mic 5 2 . I would love to be able to use this as a work reference, but the index problem prohibits this.

One of the most easy to read books, I enjoy it a lot. Without compromising the quality of scientific information, it is simple and pleasant to read. Highly recommended for all levels.

Fantastic book. Despite learning antibiotics multiple times during medical school, I could never get it to stick in my head. This book is written in a very organized, concise and readable fashion. Each chapter builds on the previous to describe how each class of antibiotic was developed to provide coverage for a certain set of bugs, which makes them more memorable. Would recommend to any medical student struggling with antibiotics.

Awesome! I want another one but none seem to be in stock. I really like this to simplify the lectures we learn in infectious disease.

I am not sure that you can write a book about antibiotics that is simplified, its a very complex subject. I think this book is aimed as a text that fits quite nicely into the pocket of a white coat and can be used to support your use of antibiotics. I did find the first five chapters very useful though as they went through basics of the pharmacology of antibiotics in a logical well written way. One of the problems with any book on this subject is that things change new research is published so you also need to consider consulting the BNF. An interesting read but with some limitations.
