I did not feel this strap to be uncomfortable. I thought it provided good support for my knee; I felt better using it. I think the key is to be sure to get the right size.

The McDavid 414 Jumpers Knee Strap has a tubular insert that applies compression to the patellar tendon, located at the bottom of the knee cap and top of the shin bone. It is not hard.
